  1. It was between that and the Pomp and Circumstance one (part 1) (in D minor, or something like that.)
  2. I think it was more theoretical. I suppose someone, somewhere., was dumb enough to try it enough times to get it to work.
  3. Just as long as it doesn't convince you it's good strategy rather than luck.
  4. He needs to work on the home run to go with it.
  5. Do they need the costumes? How about next time in Milwaukee Park and Plouffe just join the race.
  6. Gave that lead back much more efficiently
  7. Good to see Kepler do something. If he and Buxton can start hitting the season won't be completely wasted.
  8. I didn't know that about the pitcher and I was still wondering.
  9. He's definitely living on the edge, like he's done all year.
  10. Good thing, because we were starting to fondly remember Jimbo's dissertation on the use of the word "irony." In the likely event I used or spelled dissertation incorrectly, I'm not caring in advance. (For the record, I liked the comment that defended Jimbo's grammar nazi post, and I'm really only playing here, too.)
  11. Worked with my kids. The oldest took it a bit too far - he's a Yankees fan.
  12. Posting at 2:14 AM - the insanity is striking in advance
  13. I was at this game in 1986. Viola would have probably gone past 7 ER if he had been allowed to pitch long enough to get two outs. He turned out OK. (HR by Gagne off Clemens is probably still in orbit.) http://www.baseball-reference.com/boxes/BOS/BOS198605200.shtml
  14. To us, it meant the Twins needed better prospects. (Gibson was a decent prospect, not a great one). Fortunately, they got some. Unfortunately, they had to lose a lot of games to get into position to draft them.
  15. I'd think a couple of them might have some free time for a road trip.
  16. I still don't like the rationale behind the trade, but the result hasn't been as painful as it could have been.
  17. That was my recollection too. I'm pretty sure I wouldn't have advocated for forcing him to legally change his name to Jim f****** Hoey if it was Brendon Harris.
  18. Something doesn't look right. Did I sleep through the Twins winning 94 games last year?
  19. It's fun to come here because no matter how crazy a fan you are there is someone here who is crazier. (Unless you're Seth)
  20. Unless it's a minor league deal, free is too expensive.
  21. Burn it! Burn it! Just kidding. I'd keep it too. But then I also have the program from Dave Goltz' 1-hitter against the Red Sox (complete with my scorekeeping) from the 70's ('76? It was the year he won 20. Twins won 7-0. Jim Rice got the hit in the 6th or 7th).
  22. There are two girls in our Awana club at church that know I'm a Twins fan, and they are pretty proud of the fact that their uncle (or possibly cousin - I can't remember exactly) pitches for the Twins. I might be able to get you that autograph...
