  1. Yeah, one could even say HUGE! for emphasis in terms of its impact for me. I can't remember when I first read it ... maybe 8th grade? 9th? I think it's time for a reread.
  2. We must be starting on the authors now. Umberto Eco, too.
  3. Did Seth write this? The front page lists this being written by Nicksaviking.
  4. Oooou ... I might have to bake a cherry pie! Will definitely have to partake of the margarita day ... which is nice that it coincides with Margarita Mondays at the local eatery down the street.
  5. So glad that my jubilant and celebratory thread has finally turned so serious.
  6. Which is just the opposite of Chief ... his age may be prehistoric, but his philosophy isn't.
  7. Okay, let's not go there in a political thread. If you start a thread about the sexually repressed of the super religious, I might have a story or two to tell as well. But let's keep this thread separate from that. Thanks.
  8. I'll wave to you from Kauai.
  9. Caregivers aren't just the professionals who give their services and paid little for it. Caregivers are also the partners, spouses, parents or children who care for a family member with special needs.
  10. They were on Triple-D. (Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives, for those not in the know.)
  11. I've received similar letters to oppose this obstruction, to sign petitions and to help with fundraising.
  12. If you want to get a song out of your head, start humming the 'Hawaii 5-0' Theme song. It's great ... gets out the ear worm without becoming ear worm.
  13. Yup ... it's risky for them not to approve. As I've been saying ... rock/hard place.
  14. I'd really like it to go one step further ... separation of Church and State. Why are religious leaders endorsing anyone at all? I pretty much pay no attention to that, and in most cases, it involves those candidates pretty far to the right.
  15. I'm down in Fort Myers a lot, due to parents living there ... I make sure a key lime/chocolate twist cone from Sun Harvest is one visit I make each trip.
  16. Frankly, and personally, if anyone talks about their religion and their church (or whatever) in the context of a political discussion in terms of issues or candidacy, it's cause for me to be leery, regardless of lumped category.
  17. Oh man, talk about greedy. And I'm right there with you.
  18. Oh, that's an easy one for me ... massage therapist, absolutely. I live in the city, so I don't need a chef as I have so many great restaurants at my disposal; and I like to bake, so wouldn't want anyone to take over that part of it. And, again, big city ... I never have to drive anywhere if I don't want to, but I prefer driving myself. And I changed it to massage therapist, otherwise that really becomes a question for men, not women, unless you change the wording to masseuse/masseur.
  19. heh ... I was hoping for a funnier response ... but yeah, stranger things have happened and the world is sometimes not so big.
  20. Well, I couldn't say 'all,' but I will say 'most.' I posed a question to some Sox fans sitting behind me at a game ... 'Would you rather beat the Twins or the Cubs?' They answered correctly ... Twins, but also confirmed their 'dislike' for the Cubs. You ask that same question to a Cubs fan and you get 'Need more beer!' just before they pass out, or 'We'll get them next year!' (To be fair, I do know some very good baseball/Cubs fans, it's just that the Cubs fan base is bloated with the above-mentioned.)
  21. Um, no ... you aren't going to set me up here, are you?
  22. If you hadn't added the caveat 'in the ugliest manner' I might have gone with that, too. That was my hang up. I wouldn't want people saying 'Yeah, but those weren't really 'hits.' Bloopers shouldn't count.'
  23. Well, if I lived there or you lived here, and you and your wife invited me to a party at your house, you'd likely be a recipient of regifted wine. And if it were a board game party, I'd bring two!!!!!!!!!!
  24. I'm not really a wine drinker. I'll have a glass every so often, usually of the sparkling variety, or as sangria. And I get gifted wine all the time which means I never have to buy wine and can regift.
  25. Only if it's very, very tiny, but then use a lot of them!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
