  1. They want homeruns every at bat, so anything less is he can't hit.

  4. I'm not looking for prolific as a prime characteristic ... or at least, I don't know your definition of prolific. I see them on here enough and participating. And how they participate ... tone, humor, smarts, etc ... again ... quality over quantity. Yeah, if someone only had a couple hundred or less posts, I might think twice about it, but I had very few posts by comparison to all of you when I started. Sometimes you have to look beyond quantity and I think we may be disregarding someone who might otherwise be good. But, as I've said before, I think we all have a different list of qualities we are looking for that makes it so we have little consensus in the who. Except for spycake, I don't think we've had any agreement, other than begrudgingly.
  5. Uh, neither. His post did not comment on moderator action, so it wasn't point-worth, at all, imo. Not sure why'd you think so. And not sentenced to moderator duty from that post. But, as I said, when I PM'd him, I liked what he said in return.
  6. I saw that ... and wrote to him and asked him about it. And I really liked his reply, which is why I bumped this post and reiterated my nomination.
  7. I'm bumping this as it appears spycake has no interest. I want to reiterate my thought on Han Joelo. I think he'd be a good moderator. I'd also like to throw out another name ... SwainZag.
  8. Still love him ... miss him, too ...
  9. Be careful, David ... and fight on!
  10. MODERATOR WARNING: I'm tired of hiding posts that refer to one side as nutjobs and the other as toxic idiots, and I'm sure I haven't caught them all because I don't read here that thoroughly anymore. But if you can't make your points of dislike for someone without resorting to name-calling and disrespectful characterizations ... whether you agree with them or not, find them humourous or not, is besides the point ... you will find yourself pointed into lengthy time outs. And if you can't take disagreement without getting defensive and disrespectful toward another, maybe this isn't the best forum for you.
  11. Yep, force the other team to make a perfect play. There might be specific teams and/or fielders or situations you don’t test, but in general, go for it.
  12. Did he rip his pants on that? Or did that happen earlier in the game and I just didn’t notice? Or maybe it just looks like he did?
  13. You are so very, very lucky. They deflected ... but barely. Let’s not test things with further experimentation.
  14. Uh oh ... that better not end up a jinx
  15. Moderator note: Even though I was complicit, I'm going to remind everyone to stick to topic. Please, let's not revisit the Verlander trade in depth. We've been there, done that, this thread isn't about Verlander, so let's leave it. It's done and over, other than to mention we should be going after that now, and not the shoulda, woulda, coulda disagreements of the past. Also, this is not a thread to discuss what Terry Ryan wouldn't have done. Been there, done that, it's in the past and has no bearing on the current topic.
  16. You are about to be slapped. Now go in the corner and spit.
  17. And I would have made that trade. That is not a huge give for an ace, imo. But let's not revisit the Verlander trade any longer. It's done and over, and we would still be playing the if game. I was just pointing out to 9/12 that we wouldn't have traded the pieces on our team that are doing well today as they were already major league players and no longer prospects at that time, so we wouldn't be playing without them if we had made a trade for Verlander.
  18. There's no baloney anywhere here. Again, you don't like my answer because it doesn't meet up with yours. Now, stop it.
  19. Or Lewis, Graterol and/or Gordon. A rebuilding team like Detroit would have been looking for prospects, not MLB ready players. The Tigers received 3 prospects, Franklin Perez, Daz Cameron and Jake Rogers ... none who have even seen any major league service yet. And I'm not even sure where those prospects ranked in the Astros system, but it would not have taken either Polanco or Kepler who were NOT prospects at the time of the trade. And I'm not sure Verlander wanted to come here ... he had a better chance of winning with Houston and I think he wanted that. I don't think Minnesota was in on the equation for him. However, as Brock said above, we absolutely need to be having these conversations, and I get it, timing is everything, and we could play the 'if' game all day. Still ... we need to better our team and we will need to spend prospects to do it.
  20. But trading for him then means he's part of the rotation today. Wow! Would you look at that rotation with Verlander in it?
  21. MODERATOR WARNING: The title of this thread is ‘Police Misconduct.’ Of course it’s going to be weighted toward that because that is the subject. And most posters here HAVE STATED there are good cops and bad cops. Most here acknowledge there are many, many good cops out there doing a very difficult job in even more difficult situations. But we are discussing the system that has allowed bad cops to not be held accountable. That is the topic here. You have railed against the thread subject being discussed at all by becoming extremely defensive that some would dare discuss an issue you don’t like. If you don’t like a thread topic, don’t post in it. It’s okay to try and bring some balance, but your tone and respect need some work.
  22. And worse would be if said individuals were actually one and the same. That would actually be a ‘hell ho’ situation and I’d be looking for an empty seat somewhere else to sit. Along with a complaint to guest services, even if they can’t really do anything about it.
  23. Personally, I’d rather sit next to neither individuals. But you asked a question, I gave you an answer. And I gave you an answer based on personal experience having sat next to two such individuals at games. Sorry you don’t like one person’s opinion on a disgusting habit, but if you don’t want to hear the answer, don’t ask the question.
