  1. I did see a post on Twitter claiming Darren Wolfson mentioned there would be clarity on one of the buyers by the end of this week. That poster didn't mention a name; however I didn't actually see the tweet by Darren Wolfson and couldn't find it in a brief search through his feed. It could have been him responding in the comments of one of his other posts, but I feel like he's much more credible than Walters. So, however, we will have more clarity by the end of the week. There could be a lot to talk about by the end of the week with the draft lottery and GM meetings going on this week.
  2. The mushy middle, yay!! Unless the Poohlads are willing to spend money on a real 1b and three + bullpen pitchers this team is going to be .500 at best. Why would any good MLB player sign with the Twins this offseason with all the instability going on with ownership? Unless the front office is able to overpay, which we all know the Poohlads won't allow that, they won't be able to get any difference makers. They are relying solely on vast improvements from Lewis, Lee, Roden, Martin, Wallner, Abel, Ober, SWR, and the entire bullpen. You can't go into the season needing 12 players to have career years and expect to be a competitive baseball team.
  3. I agree. Reading that shocked me because what would be the incentive to helping the Pohlad's pay down / off their debts if they weren't going to have some control over the operations. Do they know something positive coming from the new CBA that will financially benefit the owners?
  4. Not sure if I can post this here or not but from a recent article by Dan Hayes at the Athletic, in the comment section someone asked about the "pending" sale and here was Dan's response: DH: My update (because there aren't enough details to merit a full story): It's happening. It just takes time. It's been handled atypically, but it's still on. Atypical because it was announced immediately after an agreement was made and without everything being ironed out and there's a lot of details that have to be finalized when you're talking as much money as is involved. But the team and league are very confident. Other poster response: Is it the details between MN Twins & Minority owners? Is it details/acceptance by MLB owners? DH: They announced it very, very early. It's details between the limited partnerships themselves and getting all their financing lined up, etc. Ownership announced it when they did because it's a superb deal for the majority owners to get the money they will get while only giving up a tiny bit of power. It hasn't been brought to the league/other owners for approval yet. For some reason I can't post the screen shot.
  5. All three players should be traded this offseason as long as they get back good value. The Twins already have great depth in the farm system so they should be targeting one legit player each from both Joe Ryan and Buxton. If they can get an extra lower-level prospect thrown in then do that. But go big game hunting and add players who should be legit stars in the MLB. Also, I'm assuming you mean Walker Jenkins and not Walter Jenkins....
  6. The Mets are the team a trade aligns with most. They desperately need outfield help and they have several high-end prospects the Twins should be interested in. McLean, Benge, and Tong are who the Twins should be targeting from their farm system.
  7. Honestly, this might be for the best. The way this team is currently structured, they aren't going to be anywhere near the playoffs. I've enjoyed watching Buxton play but he's coming off one of his best overall seasons and his value will likely never be higher. He's consistently injured and expecting him to replicate this previous season is like expecting to win the lottery. If they can trade him, Lopez, and Ryan for AA, AAA, and MLB ready players - quality over quantity - that could be great. The Mets would be the first team I'd call and ask about McLean, Benge, and Tong.
  8. The Twins basically went scorched earth at the trade deadline. With Joe Ryan and Pablo Lopez only being under team control for 2 years, Jeffers for 1, they might as well finish the job. And if those three players get moved then they need to trade Buxton as well. He’s probably at peak value right now based on how he performed this past season. Add in the fact that the 2027 season might be washed out by a strike the front office should go young and aim for quality over quantity.
  9. I would like for the Twins to make all of these moves but especially a move to trade with the Mets top prospects. They have either already made it to the MLB or are in AA or AAA. Getting Max Clark would also be very interesting! I don't think I'd put him directly into the MLB lineup but he'd likely be in AAA and could be ready by midseason.
  10. I don’t understand signing two veteran position players but then trading away your two best pitchers and signing no bullpen help. Are you hoping to win games 10 - 9?
  11. I think you can get by with Lee for one more year. I think the hope is that Culpepper is pushing for playing time on the MLB roster by the 2nd half of next season.
  12. It all depends on the full picture of the offseason. If this is the main move the front office makes then they might as well do nothing and just tank. But if this signing is part of multiple similar moves then that would be fine. They need two bullpen pitchers, a 1st basemen, and a backup catcher.
  13. What if Lee shifts over and becomes the 1B when Culpepper comes up? If he does continue to improve as a hitter, he's only had 700 PA's in the MLB, he could be a solid 1B. He's got good hands and overall good instincts.
  14. I think it's far more likely a player like Fedko makes the team and platoons with Clemens than promoting Mendez straight from AA. Also, I can't see the Twins not adding him to the 40 man this offseason. They're going to risk losing a player they just traded for, for basically nothing.
  15. What's BS about it? The team fell well short of expectations the past two seasons and only made the playoffs once in the past five years?
  16. This was the correct move. Hopefully the next manager doesn't currently work for the Twins or their minor league affiliates.
  17. What I don't understand is, why is it taking so long to announce the two minority buyers? I believe it was early August, when the Poohlands announced they weren't going to sell and the minority owners would be announced in a few weeks. Well it's now been a month and a half and no information. Have they not been approved by the MLB? Have the backed out?
  18. If the Twins are going to trade a pitcher like Joe Ryan, they need to get a high-quality pitching prospect back for him that has had at least some experience and success at AA but preferably AAA. Someone like a Jaxon Wiggins from the Cubs. I don't have a lot of faith in Matthews, Festa, Abel, and or Bradley. The next set of pitchers in Rojas, Prielipp, Hill, and Soto are years away from having success at the major league level. I'd also want to target another high-quality athletic position player that has had success at either AA or AAA. Then I'd also want a lower-level flyer. Likely another pitcher that's in A ball.
  19. The Twins prospect pool is considered good because it's a deep pool and not because they have top end talent. So, yea they HAVE prospects, but other than Jenkins they don't have a ton of top end talent. The Twins should really be targeting quality over quantity as return in a Joe Ryan trade.
  20. I can't stand the Pohlad's and them not selling the team was a complete slap in the face but I feel like the article is severely lacking in context... How does this compare across the MLB?
  21. Signing Sonny Gray to a long-term contract wouldn't have helped the Twins last year or this year. Their main issue is not being able to hit the ball consistently and just taking poor at bats to begin with. As stated above, not signing Gray wasn't the issue. It was not signing him and then not using the freed-up money to spend elsewhere on the team. Before the trade deadline, this team desperately needed it's lineup overhauled.
  22. I can see Martin starting the season on the MLB roster, hopefully not as a starter, but as a 12 or 13th man on the roster. However, by mid-season I expect some of the other prospects to pass him by. I think Jenkins will start the season with the Twins and assuming health, Buxton will be in center field. Roden has hit at every level he's played at except MLB and I think he'll eventually figure it out. Add in Fedko, Gonzalez, and Rodriguez, all of whom I think will be better than Martin, and I think Martin will find limited playing time by the all-star break. Other than 1st base I think the infield is pretty well set going into next season. At least with players the front office will want to play to determine keeping them or not. Keaschall, Lee, and Lewis will be given every opportunity to hold down their positions. Culpepper could be added into the mix by midseason as well. The Twins desperately need a legit 1st baseman.
  23. He just consistently makes poor decisions.
