  1. I'm guessing there will be at least 3-5 teams that make strong, legit offers to the Mets. Someone is going to pony up-just hope it is us. If we do give up both, it would be nice to get a reliever or two back from them as well. But who knows. If Houston ends up with him, and they have Verlander/Cole/Thor, good luck!
  2. You trade both Lewis and Kiriloff because... ...you want to WIN in the playoffs. Not just get there.
  3. Broken record post of the day. Get Thor and Lugo/Diaz at any cost. He is as acey as you're going to get. Do it. Now.
  4. I'm not huge on rentals. If I'm going to give up prospects, and overpay while doing so, I feel a little better doing so for guys that are under control mutiple years...and guys who throw 98. Mets are a dumpster fire. Take advantage. I'd give up Lewis, Kiriloff, Graterol and change for Thor, Diaz and Lugo.
  5. Like I said, we still have a chance if we chase Happ early. Chased. Not ova yet!
  6. Are double plays a thing anymore?
  7. Remember, Yanks pen not exactly in good shape either. We still have a chance if we can chase Happ early
  8. Trust me-there is a better chance that Cousins gets trades for Erin Rodgers. But why can't it be a possibility? We have the fire power. Here is my DREAM trade deadline: From Giants, we get Bumgarner and Smith From Mets, we get Syndergaard and Lugo (who I think is REALLY underrated) We give up any combination of: Lewis, Larnach, Balazovic, Javier, Rooker, Thorpe, Gordon and Jeffers 2 of Pineda/Perez/Odorizzi go to the pen. Our top 15 prospects still look like this: 1.Kiriloff 2. Graterol 3-5 Duran/Enlow/Gonsalves 6-15 Baddoo/Blankenhorn/Rortvert/new draftees Do the Twins want to "win" or "WIN?"
  9. Thor Madbum Berrios There's our playoff rotation
  10. Madbum and Thor pitched gems. They are currently being instructed to pack bags. Hope we get one. Or both. Why not.
  11. Coming from a pitching coach's perspective...sometimes you know if a curve is thrown in the dirt, strike 3 will happen. Unfortunately, sometimes pitchers throw said curveball NOT in dirt.
  12. I am in the "get Noah (and Diaz) camp". People like to talk about NL vs AL. The NL East has some teams that can hit. Never fun getting rid of your top prospects, but I would give up Lewis, Kiriloff, Graterol and change for Syndergaard and Diaz. Mets are sliding fast. Chairs are being thrown. Might be the right time.
  13. very interesting-thanks for sharing this! Am I missing something here or is the entire league overweight? When looking to see what a "normal BMI" is for adult males, it says anything over 25 is "overweight" and anything over 30 is "obese." Professional athletes are generally in great shape, so if someone can let me know where I am off, it would be much appreciated!
  14. Thoracic Outlet Syndrome: When Noah Syndergaard gets traded to us and relieves pressure in our bullpen.
  15. I would be shocked if the Mets traded Thor. But it would be amazing if we could land him, and have him and Berrios as our 1-2 punches in a playoff push...as well as for the next 2 years. A trade might look something like this: (Mets choose 1 player from each pool) 1-Lewis or Kiriloff 2-Graterol or Balazovic 3-Arraez or Gordon We have the depth to do this, along with trading for 2 relief pieces. If you don't go all in now, when?
  16. Not sure how much Daniel Hudson has been mentioned here but watching him now vs Yanks and he looks pretty nasty. 96-98 (while pitching inside) and slider 86-88. Might be a nice, cheap alternative to a few other names.
  17. My thoughts were he would start about 1/2 games this year and come off the bench the other 1/2. Then trade him in the offseason for peanuts. But probably would not work.
  18. They absolutely can...but this might be a way to give up 5-10 prospects instead of 1-5 ones. But yes, agreed.
  19. Outside the box trade question regarding the Giants: Would you take on Longoria (play part time/bat off of the bench, veteran leadership, yada yada yada) to lower the price of Bumgarner and or Smith/Dyson?
  20. Anyone else see similarities between Rooker and Cron from an offensive standpoint?
  21. It will be interesting seeing how we hit, considering it is the 2nd lefty in a row. Rodriguez with a little better stuff than Price, just not as good at...pitching.
  22. This is a tough one, and an interesting discussion. I chewed for about 10 years, when I was playing college ball and coaching. I never once was influenced by MLB players who chewed. I did it because my arm was sore and it helped me loosen up. If MLB bans smokeless tobacco, it probably wouldn't stop that many people from doing it on their own time. If it does help to make a % of people stop using it, they will probably find a different vice. I'm not saying I would be against a ban. I am saying MLB could have more influence by heavily advertising against smokeless tobacco and its harmful effects within the stadiums.
  23. I have a feeling Pineda's knee will be sore for a bit longer...
