  1. I wouldn't have said inept but more of babying the staff. 13, even at times they had 14 pitchers on the staff and still teams used position players. I do not dislike that teams would on occasion use one to pitch in a blowout. But when guys like Chris Gimenez and La Tortuga get 7-8 appearances in one season that's ridiculous. RP need to be able to pitch more than one inning in a game. They also need to be able to go back to back days if it's only one inning. Maybe not related but I miss the days of the LOOGY. They could go 3, 4, 5 days in a row. Not innings eaters, but the three batter rule is also dumb Manfraud ball.
  2. https://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/35668388/rob-manfred-mlb-ready-diamond-sports-group-pay-teams Here is what Robby Manfraud said at the end about a potential disaster: "In the event that MLB stepped in, what we would is we would do produce the games. We would make use of our asset, the MLB Network, to do that. We would go directly to distributors -- meaning Comcast, Charter, the big distributors -- and make an agreement to have those games distributed on cable networks. My expectations is that as part of the negotiation, there would be a negotiation over price. And that probably gets back to the question about, you know, what the economics would look like, but we would also be seeking flexibility on the digital side."
  3. They also missed payments to 12 NHL teams. it's not just Bally. AT&T Nets made payments that were short to 3 MLB teams.
  4. Michael Lorenzen is another two way player, which was odd last year since technically the Angels had two of them. There are a handful of players trying to get that designation for the upcoming season. All are players who weren't great a position players so they're learning to pitch.
  5. I think it will be Ryan, just like last year.
  6. they were doing everything they could to avoid going over the luxury tax threshold.
  7. It was all about preventing Kenta from reaching the incentives on his contract.
  8. I think they'll start the season with a six man rotatiion.
  9. Garlick ain't making the team over Gordon.
  10. Bally did not take over the broadcasts. They are paying for the naming rights to the RSN's. Sinclair owns the RSN's and that is where the issue lies.
  11. Incompetent is Sinclair's middle name.
  12. It's Evan Sisk and Steven Cruz going to KC.
  13. Clearly the demand is driving a tough market, as KC asked for Winder in a Michael Taylor deal. IMO Winder would be a very high price to pay for a 4th OF.
  14. I'd hit Buxton leadoff. Get him as many AB's as possible. If Gallo gets in a groove he's solid in the middle of the lineup.
  15. Gallo will start in LF most of the time, especially against RHP. Gordon can play CF when needed.
  16. Technically no you don't have a seat. But when I've gone SRO in the past I've waited for an usher to go down the section between innings and went down a few rows and in the middle of the section. Also there are plenty of spaces around the concourse with no vendors. A lot of those spaces also have rails so you can set your drink/food down and eat there.
  17. Per STH email today, there is only a 2 hour window for STH to buy opener tickets before they go on sale to the public. I think that's really unfair to those of us who cannot just stop working at that time. It's been a full day in the past.
  18. Could also be Gordon in the lineup. My thought on Kiriloff is if he's healthy he's in.
  19. Arraez at DH, Kiriloff at 1B on opening day.
  20. The deadline for teams and players to exchange numbers was a few days ago so likely they were close enough to find something in the middle with most of them.
  21. They don't have to pay to use Target Field. they would anywhere else.
  22. Just thought of another one I missed on. I thought it was a mistake to trade Tim Teufel. And maybe he would have been long term for us at 2B. We rally didn't get much for him though. But Steve Lombardozzi did just fine at 2B. And both got WS rings within 2 years.
  23. He's another one I thought would have a good career.
  24. Here's my list. Matthew LeCroy would be a 40 HR a year hitter if left at DH full time. Gene Larkin would replace Kent Hrbek and be a stud for years. Matt Capps would be a long term solid closer for the team. Brian Buchanan- See LeCroy above. Trevor Plouffe would win several Gold Gloves after mastering 3B. I thought the Dozier trade would eventually be known as the Smeltzer trade. There have also been a lot I was wrong about that worked out for them: Didn't like the Nelson Cruz signing. First time I saw Polanco in an MLB game I thought he'd never hit a HR in MLB. Trading Cruz. At the time I didn't know enough about the 2 prospects in the deal. Same for the Berrios deal.
  25. I don't either but I can live with it.
