  1. The Sano at DH take is a visceral reaction to Miguel not being able to catch infield popups. He does have some talent there and an arm. It's just hard to lose the visual of those botched catches.
  2. My theory is DanSan must have compromising pictures of someone in authority. Setting that theory aside the Twins really should move on and find someone with a higher ceiling. Santana and his familiarity might work better on a contending club. The Twins need long term solutions not stop gaps.
  3. In a recent interview Brian Dozier stated he preferred the leadoff spot and felt more comfortable there.
  4. Making quick decisions and not being attached to guys for money or sentimental reasons is fine. I question whether leaving a guy with Park power potential exposed is sound decision making. Park was effective in 2016 at the MLB level when healthy.
  5. Sign me up for 80 wins, which would surely keep them in contention for a WC spot well into September. My guess is that the Twins win total is closer to 70 than 80.
  6. This issue is an example of an organization such as the Twins that needs to gain an advantage on the detail issues such as injuries, yet typically is old school and behind the times. My guess is that this is on the radar screen of the new front office.
  7. Being a Vikings fan and remembering how the ghetto Falcons destroyed our 1998 dream season, my heart says Patriots. However, my brain says the Falcons offense is too much. Falcons 41, Pats 31.
  8. The biggest concern is his streakiness. If he can avoid the prolonged slumps then we might have something really special. And of course, the hair.
  9. You lightly touched on it with Polanco comments... my bigger picture concern is who will play shortstop and provide any defense and offensive production if Polanco fails or even when Polanco is on the bench.
  10. If Polanco at shortstop would be disastrous, why keep him if we sign a free agent? Cut him loose at that point, who cares if we sign a veteran and he is out of options? Why not play him and know for sure what we really have.
  11. Optimism and being a bit of a homer since spring training hasn't started yet and hope springs eternal. Mix that with a dose of we gotta get some lucky breaks after 2016, the young bats progress, Phil Hughes and Berrios have good seasons, and the power bat hoped for still to come arrives and performs.
  12. If the Twins keep Dozier and then add one of the remaining big bats on the free agent market then with a few breaks they could potentially hang around the wild card race into September. They should not deal Dozier just to get "something". They should continue to hold out for maximum value.
  13. Let's give the "F&L boys" some time to really show us what they are all about. Rome wasn't built in a day and they were left quite a mess. I like the foundation of the lineup with the young guys Kepler, Buxton, Sano, et al. Not certain what to do with the starting rotation other than to go as young as realistically possible and let them take their lumps and progress. To your point # 4 - I feel if they add another legitimate bat to the lineup such as Bautista and get a few good seasons from unexpected sources then they could possibly contend for a wild card spot. It is not much to hang your hat on, though at least it would be something.
  14. The writing is on the wall that Murphy has some competition now that the Twins signed Chris Gimenez. The Twins need to give Vargas a sustained chance of 500+ PAs to really know what they have. He has flashed too much talent and potential to not get a shot.
  15. Do otherteams with 90+ losses in 5 of the last 6 seasons and 100+ losses last season have the same roster crunch problems the Twins have? It doesn't compute.
  16. Rondell White. Tommy Herr (maybe). At the time, ol ' Tommy seemed like the worst Twin ever - not sure what the #s actually say.
  17. Until something actually happens and a deal gets done this has become boring.
  18. Bonds was just an obvious cheat and disgrace to the integrity of the game that he should never be enshrined into the Hall of Fame.
  19. The Twins just need to play him every day and let his talent shine through. Put him in the best position to be successful and demand that he get in shape, get his mental makeup straight, and then the rest is up to Sano. If Sano flops out it would be the biggest disappointment I could envision. He is too good to fail, though a small part of me says it is a potential reality. At this point they need to support him the best they can and let him sink or swim on his own.
  20. Nice summary. The bullpen wasn't as bad as remembered for a 103 loss team. Then I realized that Mr. Jepsen wasn't included in this recap. Anyway, it's nice to remember we have some building blocks in the bullpen. What to do with the closer spot - I don't see Kintzler as the long term answer there.
  21. I see it as a can't lose for the Twins. Either we deal Dozier for some prospects to build for the future or two more years of his bat and hair. Agreed that he will probably lose value, although who's to say there won't be new teams interested at the trade deadline in July?
  22. Anyone who even makes the minor leagues is a serious stud, so thank you for recognizing all of them.
  23. We sucked. Enjoyable moments: Kepler, Dozier, Buxton.
  24. Brutal. It's hard to disagree with you. Everyone could have been given an F except for Santana.
