  1. I am also starting to get a sinking feeling in the pit of my stomach that Sano may become the biggest flop in Twins history. Man, do I hope I am wrong. The strikeouts are disgusting and not how the game should be played. My old school tendencies say that anyone who strikes out that much should be benched. I have felt he is lazy after 2016 and was excited as he appeared to have come to spring training this year in shape. Sano's career progression is a fascinating subplot to this Twins season. I really hope he pulls through and progresses and fulfills at least a large portion of his potential. If he flames out it will be disappointment #1 in Twins player development.
  2. Any little bit of improvement is what this franchise needs. The new guys sound like an upgrade overall from Bruno and Davis.
  3. I can sniff the end of the Mauer era. Hopefully they will at least explore the platoon option seriously and honestly.
  4. Murphy deserves another chance based on his offensive production with the Yankees.
  5. Us Bank Stadium is a rich man's stadium. It's disappointing they charge Vikings prices at Gophers baseball games.
  6. I am looking forward to watching a college baseball game in the new stadium. It should be an interesting dynamic with the huge palace hosting college baseball.
  7. I know bunting isn't cool in today's baseball world. For a guy like Buxton though, it seems like a smart play and a good way to jump start his offensive numbers at the start of his career. If his batting progresses over the next few years then use the bunt less.
  8. Watershed moment in life: realizing that a top 10 Twins Daily prospect is younger than your oldest child.

  10. The strikeouts on this team sicken me - Sano and Rosario need to get them under control if they are going to be key cogs in a winning Twins machine. Strikeouts are toxic regardless of what some advanced metrics state.
  11. Well done and nice job. Congrats on five years.
  12. The Twin Cities is a frontrunner and fair weather fan kind of town. This is a wealthy market saturated with both sports and non - sports entertainment options. Nice summer weekends are in short supply so if the Twins aren't 'good' you are going to lose a large fraction of the casual fans. You are asking people to scratch below the surface and research, which your typical Twin Cities sports fan is not going to do for a 103 loss team. We have all talked to the coworker this offseason who won't discuss the Twins in detail because they 'suck' - this is the same guy banging the drum and buying World Series tickets as everyone loves a winner. Most diehards aren't as tied to the result, they love the game or going to the ballpark or whatever. For me, 2016 was an enjoyable viewing season watching the young guys mature a bit. The 103 losses weren't fun, it was still the Twins and that's all that matters.
  13. The Twins are always interesting just as Jesus Christ and reading the scriptures is always interesting. There are no boring moments, only boring people.
  14. Signing a FA bat soon would be a nice way to end a slow offseason.
  15. With global warming changing winter here in the frozen tundra, why not move spring training to an exotic southern location such as Lakeville so the locals can enjoy it?
  16. The search for a full-time closer as I don't feel Kintzler is the long term answer and Perk's career is essentially done.
  17. Maybe Mean Joe Green will throw you his jersey after you hand him an ice cold Coke?
  18. Let's give him 550+ PAs so we can know for certain.
  19. The Sano at DH take is a visceral reaction to Miguel not being able to catch infield popups. He does have some talent there and an arm. It's just hard to lose the visual of those botched catches.
  20. My theory is DanSan must have compromising pictures of someone in authority. Setting that theory aside the Twins really should move on and find someone with a higher ceiling. Santana and his familiarity might work better on a contending club. The Twins need long term solutions not stop gaps.
  21. In a recent interview Brian Dozier stated he preferred the leadoff spot and felt more comfortable there.
  22. Making quick decisions and not being attached to guys for money or sentimental reasons is fine. I question whether leaving a guy with Park power potential exposed is sound decision making. Park was effective in 2016 at the MLB level when healthy.
  23. Sign me up for 80 wins, which would surely keep them in contention for a WC spot well into September. My guess is that the Twins win total is closer to 70 than 80.
  24. This issue is an example of an organization such as the Twins that needs to gain an advantage on the detail issues such as injuries, yet typically is old school and behind the times. My guess is that this is on the radar screen of the new front office.
  25. Being a Vikings fan and remembering how the ghetto Falcons destroyed our 1998 dream season, my heart says Patriots. However, my brain says the Falcons offense is too much. Falcons 41, Pats 31.
