  1. Garver was a pleasant surprise. He put up video game numbers and deserved it. Cruz just cruised to the award all season long.
  2. The NFL is trying to monitor discretionary calls such as pass interference. You could have 10 NFL reps all watch the same disputed PI call and get a 50/50 split the majority of the time. The strike zone should (theoretically) be a target that is immovable with each batter and not open to interpretation. It's either a strike based on the agreed upon zone or it isn't. I would be happy with balls/strikes being robot enforced and do away with the other replay in MLB and just play the game.
  3. We will all miss the spectacle of overweight, grown men dressed in a uniform that is basically pajamas arguing with other grown men about a game that revolves around hitting a ball with a stick. The price of progress.
  4. That is going to be so much fun when the technology crashes or has a 'glitch' during a key moment in a playoff or World Series game. It would be the greatest of entertainment. In the meantime, baseball still needs to get robo umps installed as soon as the system is capable.
  5. I am an Eddie guy. I love the confidence, swagger, "heart", and not shrinking from the big moment. I even with the extend Eddie sentiment. The hustle comment I cannot agree with. Eddie dogs it in the field, at the plate, and on the basepaths.
  6. You almost make me want to cheer for the Astros tonight to get the handbook a day earlier. No, go Nationals!
  7. Arraez is a nice counterbalance to today's swing for the fences or strikeout culture. Arraez is a professional hitter who is a treat to watch. His ABs are reminiscent of a simpler time when working the count, drawing a BB, and playing strategically were valued. The way he moves/struts around the batter's box on a close take is entertaining as well.
  8. You guys have been teasing the guest writers angle so much that anything less than Paul the apostle, Mark Twain, and William Shakespeare will leave me disappointed.
  9. My spin is that if Twins fans are complaining about Eddie Rosario as the main issue among position players then the Twins are really in a position of strength. First world problems are nice after nearly ten years of almost constant struggle. Eddie does need to shore up the lazy defensive lapses and hustle all the time. He's just hitting his prime so it better be quite a haul if the Twins trade him.
  10. Thank goodness I'm not the only one. Everyone all the time is all about how awesome the Target Field organist is. Her playing bores me to tears. The addition of some variety would certainly help matters. I have only thought this criticism, and have been afraid to say it out loud.
  11. If they expand the playoffs any further to more teams then I am out. My nightmare is a 16 team playoff tournament where the regular season is basically meaningless - see the NBA and NHL. The wild card round reminds me of a slow pitch softball tournament - why are we condensing a 6 month season to a random one game elimination. Either these teams are playoff teams and deserve a 7 game series or have them stay home. Also, bump the LDS to 7 games. Why cheapen determining who is the best team with multiple travel days that rarely, if ever, happen in the regular season. I know it's all for television.
  12. I can't read the recap. The emotions and frustration are too raw right now.
  13. The time for analysis is over and we must lean on cliched rock anthems for inspiration. I heard this Journey song today and feel it appropriate for the three game journey awaiting our beloved Twins, "...Working hard to get my fill Everybody wants a thrill Payin' anything to roll the dice Just one more time Some will win, some will lose Some were born to sing the blues Oh, the movie never ends It goes on and on and on and on Strangers waiting Up and down the boulevard Their shadows searching in the night Streetlights, people Living just to find emotion Hiding somewhere in the night Don't stop believin..."
  14. From a logical standpoint, this 5 game series is where it should be after 2 games. The Yankees held serve at home for 2 games, as they should. Now, the Twins have to return the favor and answer with 2 victories at Target Field. Then, it's a winner take all anything goes crapshoot for game 5. That's my belief in this team right now, that they will force a game 5. The Bomba Squad has been special all season and I won't back down from the claim they have some magic left in them. I still have the delusion they can pull off the remarkable comeback against the Yankees and storm off with a head of steam against the Astros in the ALCS.
  15. The analysis is nice and interesting. It's time though for the Twins to just stand up and punch these guys in the mouth and win the darn series. As far as the history against the Yankees being irrelevant, that's great for Rocco and the Bomba Squad to believe that. However, it means something to the fans - even Dave St. Peter - to finally beat these Yankees. If the Twins can get swept, it will take some time as a fan to recover. A Yankees sweep and the Twins are entering Vikings-like territory for letdowns if this is another Gardy era Yankees beatdown of our Twins. May the best team win. There will be no moral victories here. None of the old, "The Twins really hung in there. What a great regular season. Let's get 'em next year" nonsense. The time is now.
  16. What a barbaric society we live in. You cannot watch game 1 of the LDS and you live in the same city where the team is located?!?! Is this 2019 or 1919? Listen to AM radio instead?!
  17. Truth. There could be a serious lack of sleep across the state during this LDS. My money is on none of the games being less than 4 hours.
  18. HRs: Yankees 298, Twins 297 Games played: Yankees 157, Twins 156 The Yankees are at the Rays.
  19. I'm out, I give my old jerseys to charity. Heck, my Mauer jersey is already blessing the less fortunate. Great idea, though.
  20. Gibby is a man of faith, so roll with him and hope those blessings from mission work come flowing back at the right time.
  21. This is Minnesota. There is nothing on ice until it is in the record books.
  22. "Every game until you clench is a playoff game." I don't like to be a grammar Nazi. This one hit the funny bone, though.
  23. Yes, I would be thrilled with one W this weekend and getting out of Cleveland with a 2 1/2 games lead.
  24. Sadly, I just don't know if Eddie has the maturity to pull off that type of transformation in September and October. His lack of hustle and lackluster play on defense being my first exhibit.
