  1. Berrios was a TR draft pick as was Gonsalves. Romero was signed as a IFA when TR was in charge for Bill Smith. We have good depth in Rochester, and our farm system will be in the top 10 come this off-season. The big picture looks very good, you can always manipulate the microscopic picture to fit any agenda. You do know we were in the hunt, 2 of the past 3 years.
  2. At bat, after at bat, he's our most professional hitter except for Mauer. The book on him has been out for quite some time, and the results will balance out shortly. Basically, all we are hearing from is the first to panic and I for one, never listen to those members.
  3. Robbie has been solid for two seasons, and will be for this one also. Can anyone explain why Arcia was a board favorite and Grossman a board scapegoat? For those keeping score a home, for the past 3 years, at least one board scapegoat has made the All-Star team.
  4. If I'm not mistaken, he was our best pitcher after 6-15. If he fits, I have no problem picking him up. Depth is a good thing.
  5. My sources tell me there is 80-90% probability there has always been insurance on that contract. Further, there has never been a preexisting injury exclusion. Who would be buy an auto policy that doesn't cover car accidents? In what world, would the premiums equal his salary? You do know the Pohlads are billionaires right?
  6. There is all kinds of a market for those guys. Don't stray far from the board at the trade deadline, we are going to be buyers and sellers. Let me make a prediction. There appears to be a gap for starting pitching prospects between Rochester and Cedar Rapids. Look for the new regime to partially fill that gap at the deadline. I don't believe they can do that, by only taking college starters in the 2018 draft.
  7. I've always counted you as extremely disappointed. Surely members on this board recognize those who have felt from the less than heady days of 2013 and 2104 that they were smarter than the FO. Feel free to believe whatever you choose.
  8. They are the closest I can think off, but they started 2 years earlier.
  9. There is no downside, to trying to convert a college reliever to a starting pitcher. None whatsoever. At some point in time, pitching becomes a numbers game. Unfortunately, it did take us longer than many expected to get the numbers on our side. Let's try this one more time. What mid-market team went thru a complete rebuild faster than our favorite team. Start at the teardown, and go thru to the play-offs. No one has been able to cite any.
  10. Since there is plenty of season left, Castro will no doubt have another fine season. Can anyone name the last Twins starting catcher, who did not make the All-Star team sometime in their carrier?
  11. Our visiting expert from the Braves, said this is the strongest draft for catchers in sometime. I would be very surprised if we didn't take one fairly quickly. The new regime is all about depth.
  12. I see them all picking it up shortly. It's a long season.
  13. I would guess there have been teams in the past that started 8-11 and still made it to the World Series. Plenty of time to panic.
  14. Not even close. You know the season is 162 games right?
  15. The new regime is relentless in trying to improve our staff. Last I looked at Haley, he would be one of our top 10 starting pitchers, if we had been able to retain him. Only Pressly appears to have better stuff in the pen than Kinley. If Falvey and Levine want take shots for $100,000, I'm all in.
  16. Isn't he the one every team in baseball passed on except the Dodgers and Astros? With our favorite team, healthy pitchers are center stage. If you don't have a track record of being healthy, your future as a Twin isn't very good.
  17. I'm not surprised. Lamarre is the flavor of the month and Garver, in continuing the TD tradition started with the likes of Pinto, Arcia, and Vargas, is a new board favorite.
  18. The reigning AL manager of the year, is very good with young players. As our young stars continue to mature, you will see Molly institute small ball more and more. Time to embrace the big picture.
  19. As far as I can tell, the only player we have with anywhere near the stuff of Kinley, is Pressly. Let it playout. He cost us $100,000, and I'm assuming Miami will be much more likely to make a deal, than the Red Sox would with Haley.
  20. I bet they are just trying to win.
  21. You don't DFA a player with trade value. We heard the same nonsense about Gibson and Pelfrey.
  22. Where they start is unimportant, where they end is. It could be as simple as better weather down south.
  23. For $100,000, it's foolish not to take a look. With Burdi, Bard, and Chargois the front office sent a strong message. If everything is more or less equal, they are going to keep those with a track record of being healthy.
  24. We were told sometime around May 1st, plenty of time to panic.
