  1. Because of the power difference? I just view a power hitting corner OF'er as less valuable then a potential SS or CF unless the difference is dramatic.
  2. Though I only participated occasionally I actually found them very civil relative to most of what you see online. I'm a bit surprised by this.
  3. Seems most here value Kiriloff over Lewis and I'm curious why? Lewis will play OF if he can't stick at SS/2B and isn't he going to be better offensively?
  4. Regarding trading Sano, I've been in favor of it, and I'm still not opposed because his defense is so brutal. However, if you're "going for it" I don't think you can trade one of your key offensive players without upsetting the clubhouse. I'd wait and trade him in the off-season. In 2001, the Twins "went for it" by trading Matt Lawton for Rick Reed, because Terry Ryan could never part with precious, precious prospects. I don't think that went over very well.
  5. I'd do Kirilof, Balazovic, Duran for just Syndergaard. Then go get Ian Kennedy for a lower price (Gordon) and find a Loogy for a spare change.
  6. Some of y'all are awfully pessimistic. 26-37 the rest of the way given their schedule? Even I can't be that dire.
  7. +1. I think Pelosi is being pretty gutless on the impeachment. The idea that it will "fire up" Trump's base is dumb. It might, but who cares? They're going to vote regardless. The Kavanaugh hearings "fired them up" too and they still lost 40 seats in the House. I think as long as they keep the inquiry away from personal issues like Stormy Daniels there will not be a backlash for at least having the inquiry. Keep it focused on the obstruction Mueller laid out and his financial dealings and secrecy. The Clinton impeachment backfired because it was purely personal.
  8. Yes. But the difference in schedules between the two teams the last 6 weeks has been blatant. You don't normally have a 6 week stretch where you play 29 of 32 vs. bottom feeders while the team you're chasing plays 19 of 32 games against play-off contenders.
  9. 4) We can convince fans that Thorpe/Stashak/Torres are good based on 1-2 outings and no trades were needed.
  10. So the person I have the most confidence in order for tonight is... Rogers Harper Duffy Smeltzer May Stashak (assume unavailable) Thorpe (assume unavailable) Torres Send help
  11. How does that effect adding guys in the off-season?
  12. Praise the Lord. That said, something is very wrong with your bullpen construction when you go from "here, we trust you with an 8th inning lead against the Yankees" to "You're off the team" in 17 hours.
  13. If I have to eat an extra $ million of his salary to get the deal done now, or upgrade the prospect slightly, I do it. He might save 1-2 wins in the extra week.
  14. Certainly the case. We didn't learn much new, but at least he killed a couple GOP talking points. He didn't indict on obstruction because he felt he was bound by the OLC memo that he couldn't no matter what Barr spins. He also pretty much said Trump wasn't truthful in his written answers, which I didn't expect.
  15. If the item is an umbrella and it's pouring rain, and you don't have one, it doesn't really matter what you say, does it?
  16. This. The idea that they can't add 2 substantive relievers without gutting the farm system is absurd.
  17. I agree. A 60 day IL stint for Parker seems in order.
  18. I wouldn't be opposed to that. But the refusal to make trades and part with prospects falls !00% on the front office.
  19. It's also not hard. If the Yankees are in the race and need something, they go it get it. Every time. Same with the Red Sox, Dodgers, etc. The Twins can't afford to do it every time. But they have to when the team is legitimately good enough. This isn't the 2017 or 2008 Twins which were plucky but had no real shot in the play-offs. This is much more like 2006/2010.
  20. They're already setting us up to be satisfied with getting a 2019 version of Zack Duke and nothing else. If they do, Falvey is officially Terry Ryan II and we will never win the big one until they are gone.
  21. Yep. I have never criticized Bill Smith for trading Wilson Ramos. Sure, I wish Capps had been better, but the 2010 was good enough to win and he went for it.
  22. Yes. This is the Twins best offense ever and they don't get legit windows very often. To let the bullpen single-handedly take them down would be baseball malpractice. This is 2006 all over again. Terry Ryan did nothing and it was his worst move. If they make the same mistake, clinging to their prospects for a tomorrow that never comes, then they're not up to the job.
  23. Why is Mike Morin in Philly and Blake Parker is still on this team?
  24. If they don't acquire at least 2 arms to help this offense, they should be fired on 8/1.
