    Truly a magic number.
  2. Good thing we have our highest OBP guy hitting right in front of him. Rocco... fer the luvva.....
  3. What did that earlier poster say? "Schoop'd again." Drat.
  4. Heh... I remember listening to Mike North one day, back in the 87 playoff chase. They were trying to come up with a "Spahn and Sain" saying for the dropoff to Les Straker et. al. One guy called in and said," Frank and Bert, then hit the dirt." I dunno what we can say this time around. Maybe.... "Jose and Jake, then shake and quake?"
  5. Welp. Gonna need more than 5, it seems.
  6. They were checking on Gonzalez for a physical injury. They might have been checking on Detweiler for an emotional one.
  7. Come on, now, LaTroy... We just had a guy suspended. "Get the testosterone going..." We all know what you meant, but... Heh. Feels like watching the Sopranos crew hanging around the Bing. "He's the hair apparent." "That's the flying ointment." "He's creating dysentery in the ranks." OH! Almost forgot my all-time favorite: "You know, Quasimodo predicted this..."
  8. Why is Rocco so stubborn, when we've got what amounts to a prototypical leadoff man already on our roster? I swear, every time I see Garver or Kep in the 1 spot, with their 30 homers, and the guy with the OBP 50-60 points higher, a guy who sees pitches, and makes the pitcher work, hitting in the 7 hole.... Why not get a guy on in front of your top HR guys? Yeh, yeh, 'they only lead off once a game," but it's way more than that- they're in front of guys who produce big flies. And unlike Buxton, he's not even hitting 9th, so he could be in front of them a time or two during the game. Just ridiculous. *Edit time- today, for example- your highest on-base guy is not hitting in front of Polanco and Cruz, he's hitting in front of Schoop and LaMarre... SMH
  9. Heh.... I remember this guy from some ad years ago. Don't remember what the product was, but always remember the dude's rockin' moves... Get down, son!
  10. Just tuned in. It'll be interesting to see who's on the mound the next couple of innings: Berrios, or Bury-us.
  11. Cheers, Nick. Great stuff as always. I'm glad the team stepped it up like they did on Saturday. But I REALLY disagree with Rocco about resting everybody on Sunday. We should have gone all out to bury those guys as deep as possible. This race is not yet over, and it feels like we just handed them a game playing a 4A lineup. Go all out, I say, start Berrios, and rest on Monday against the Sox. And Tuesday too, for that matter.
  12. That was a TEAM win. And what a win. I woke up this morning to see the Twinks had the 1st game in hand, and even the Gophers had eked out a win. Left for a hike after the 1st inning, and got back just after the Sano Salami! The grizzled vets stepped up and bailed out the kid, and it was a beautiful thing to see. It's quite a nice surprise that the much-maligned Twins BP has really stepped it up this month, and especially in those 2 games today, when it counted most. We got a series win, which is what we needed, and the rest of our schedule is against the Central's bottom-feeders, but this ain't over yet. Let's go out there tomorrow, boys, and bury these guys in front of their own fans. There's a sweet, small indie movie called Jawbone- the tried-and-true aging-boxer-in-search-of-redemption tale. The anti-hero goes into the intimidating atmosphere of the undefeated stud's gym, in front of his family, friends, and rabid supporters. His calm-demeanored corner man tells him, "Look over there. He's a bully. And he's surrounded by bullies. When that bell rings, I want you to walk across that ring, and break his heart." That's what I want. I wanna break their hearts tomorrow. Does that make me a bad person? ;-) *Edit time: I see we're also tied for the season series, soooo......
  13. Yoiks! How many pitches would that take?
  14. Sucks to have to fold up the tent in the 6th. Heck, I just finished my morning classes, and was looking forward to following the game during paperwork time. Ah, well. Can't wait for that Cleveland series. Let's see, if we get swept, which I'm totally anticipating, will we still be 1/2 game in front?
  15. Man, that opener was a page-turning thriller! And it was nice to remember that day in that stands as a young lad, when Little Corcoran mowed down them Providence Grays! I was a mere child of 5, so my memory of it is not so good, but I do recall my Pa relating later on that I was already taller than the pitcher that day.
  16. Man, I'm just ticking off the body parts I would have given up to see Corbin in a Twins uni this season.
  17. Hm. Rendon must have tripped over his own scraggly-a$$ chin whiskers. Good.
  18. At the prompting of an earlier post, I went over to Don Mossi's Fbook page just for the heck of it. He passed away quite recently. Here's a memorial post: I think it would be a gas if Joe's Animal Hospital received a handful of donations from some random Twins fans on some random day, just because of some random chat. Good for the heart.
  19. Yeh, you don't want to waste your hottest HR hitter on a 2-men-on, nobody-out situation. Better to save him for one of those 2-out, nobody-on in the 9th situations. SMDH
  20. I was on the Tortuga bandwagon, big-time. But there's a difference between just making contact per se, and making good contact. Swinging at pitches that graze your shoelaces ain't gonna get 'er done.
  21. I'm kind of worried for TC Bear right now. Just wondering if Rodney's going to have a 'hit the mascot' moment.

  23. Heh.... whomever post about Dozier hitting a tater-tot.... You got your wish!
  24. Well. Just back from early classes- I see we had another starter take a step back when we need a step up. Color me surprised.
  25. That was a sweet win. The only thing that would have made it better would have been striking out Dozier instead of Eaton at the end of the game.
