  1. Hate to say it, but I think I'd go with AAAA filler or a bullpen game on Saturday. Much like Berrios earlier this year, Gibson has goals to accomplish in AAA before getting the call to Minnesota again. I doubt he's accomplished those goals in 2 starts.
  2. I agree with you definition of an ace. And through May 16th this season, Erv can be described as such. Another huge piece to truly being called an ace IMO is doing all of those things for several years in a row. That's where Erv falls short....
  3. If you have to ask the question whether someone is an ace, he's probably not an ace. Nothing wrong with it, as I believe there are only ~5 true ACES out there in baseball. Staff leader is a good term to describe Erv. He's been lights out and a good signing for this team.
  4. I came into this season under the assumption that this is a ~75 win team. Because of that, I was ready to sell off Dozier, Erv, any veteran that produced. If they're over .500 on June 1, I'll be glad to change the strategy to contender, and think about buying SP instead of selling. Sano and Erv are playing at All-Star, even MVP levels at the moment, and both are healthy. The fanbase is so very tired of losing. It's going to be a very interesting next couple of months....
  5. Welcome back Berrios! Looking forward to watching him pitch again under the bright lights.
  6. If it has something to do with the WBC decision this is the most passive aggressive Minnesota thing they could do.
  7. Pictured: Thad Levine returning to 1 Twins Way after finding and signing something called Adam Wilk http://farm3.staticflickr.com/2073/2132148736_685535202b.jpg
  8. This guy isn't even a 29 year old retread. He's a 29 year old never was. Might as well save the plane ticket money and pick up a player from the St. Paul Saints
  9. One of life's many mysteries, John... As Mike Sixel would say mind.boggling.
  10. On that list, this would be my priority: Sano Buxton Kepler Polanco Dozier I wouldn't even talk to Dozier until the first 4 are locked up.
  11. Can't say I agree with this approach. Gibson arguably has more upside than Tepesch and Haley for example. If you're struggling that much where you're giving up hard contact and can't get out of an inning, upside doesn't matter. There's no place to hide Pressly in this bullpen when it's all hands on deck. IMO they need to keep this group fluid and rotate out struggling pitchers for someone else who could do better.
  12. Yeah it'll be interesting to see what school they belong to for sure... I guess I'm enrolled in the school of promoting from AA is fine on a case by case basis. When it comes to RP, I don't see an issue with jumping up 2 levels. Same with elite prospects such as Sano. When it comes to relievers, they should have the same approach in AA as they should in the majors. Throw the ball really hard, and get them to chase junk out of the zone. I'm not sure if a person needs x amount of innings in A, AA, and AAA before they can hang in the majors.
  13. Couldn't agree more. It's better for the organization and the fans when 2 young, lovable, good players are locked in for a long time... Haven't seen that since the Mauer and Morneau days.
  14. Concur, I say Sano is the priority to sign this off-season. He's already becoming a star this season, and will only get more expensive the longer he proves he can play 3B or 1B.
  15. If you believe the team isn't a contender, wouldn't it make sense to give Burdi/Melotakis/pick your poison some time on the MLB team so they have experience when the team evolves into contenders?
  16. Would Burdi/Melotakis/Hilldenberger do any worse than Pressly right now? I'd be shocked if that were the case.... He needs to be sent back to AAA yesterday. Give him 10-15 appearances in Rochester to clear up whatever issues he's going through.
  17. Just waiting around for that Big Pelf blowup inning....
  18. REVENGE game for Hector the Kollector! The beard looks recently trimmed.... Let's play!!
  19. No doubt. MLB is leading the way for streaming options with their games. NHL being a close second. NFL and NBA are light years behind in the streaming game, and the two biggest investments that ESPN has.
  20. Now that we've come to the conclusion that Mauer and Sano are completely different players.......... If people are hesitant about giving a long term contract to a 24/25 year old, I'm not sure if there's any example of a player to sign long term.
  21. The entire league is trending towards 3 outcomes... Sano isn't an outlier when it comes to his approach at the plate.
  22. The more Sano proves he can play in the field, the more his future salary goes up. I'd really like to get him locked up long term sooner than later.
  23. Good luck to D Santana. This should hopefully work out for both parties. D San gets a fresh start, and the Twins take away Molitor's temptation of finding a way to play him.
  24. They've been splitting playing time 50/50 between him and JRM for most of the season. Recently it's probably just playing the hot bat. JRM is heating up, and Garver is cooling down a bit.
