  1. I agree, we are a year too early on the Plouffe trade conversation. However, I am not on board with discussing long-term extension with him either. 2016 will be an interesting season to see where Sano winds up fitting into the lineup.
  2. Being a fly ball pitcher on a team (A's) with the biggest outfield & foul ball territory in baseball.
  3. There's no need to create a log jam for the future. Offer him arbitration this offseason, and I'll be excited to see Plouffe vs. Sano at 3rd base in Ft. Meyers next March.
  4. I agree on Pinto, buy the ticket. Milone, on the other hand, should stay put. Maybe Meyer can learn a little something on controlling his pitches from him.
  5. The bullpen is still a little too shaky in my eyes to be a .500 team. Thompson and Boyer have been pleasant surprises, but Duensing, Stauffer (before getting sent down), and Fien have been pretty brutal. I'll still go with 75 wins unless there's a new addition via trade or AAA to fix the bullpen.
  6. Gotcha, thanks for that. So it doesn't matter if it's the 1st or 8th inning with him, he's either on or off depending on the day. Which would not work out at all in a closer role.
  7. I'm about to check out Dell Diamond, home of the Round Rock Express (AAA affiliate for Rangers) tonight! I'll give a report on that stadium later on. My synopsis might be fueled by beer as a forewarning.
  8. Ricky Nolasco for Jackie Bradley Jr and it's a deal.
  9. For those that have seen Alex Meyer pitch, because I'll be honest I have not seen him in person or on TV, do his control issues come into play further along in the ballgame? I get that he is more valuable to the organization as a starter, but maybe being a closer is a better fit for him.
  10. I'm very excited to see when the Twins will bring up Berrios. I don't think I'm any different than other Twins fans when I thought Meyer was the consensus #1 SP in the farm system. Berrios has continued to develop quickly, and from the sounds of it, might be the first true ace of the rotation we've had since Johan.
  11. Is Arlington Stadium a former Rangers stadium? Or is that their current stadium just renamed to Globe Life Park? I'd like to go to either Globe Life Park or Minute Maid when the Twins make their way down here, but it sounds like both are bad stadium experiences.....
  12. Who knows what his ERA could be if he ever pitches beyond the 6th inning!
  13. The bat potential is obviously there with Arcia, and he should be able to hit 30+ HRs in a full season. However, I really do not want to see him in the field anymore. He's become a head case out there missing routine pop ups, and making Josh Willingham look like a gold glove caliber OF compared to him. If they want his bat in the lineup, he should be a DH only.
  14. Terry Ryan better be on the phone calling anyone that will listen. We have a hot pitcher available! Get him while you still can.
  15. By the way plug it out makes sense to me. If we say plug it in why can't it go plug it out?
  16. Sounds like you're a New Ulm resident! Or should I say New Vulm?
  17. The thing is to I grew up in Mankato, so it's not like I have the thick Bemidji or "Dah-loot" accent. I could only imagine the comments I would get if I had more of a Canadian twang to my accent.
  18. Basically a city of transplants now, mostly people from California that couldn't afford to live there anymore. I think I've met maybe 2 true Austinites in the year I've lived down here.
  19. It will be a miracle if he makes it through 5 innings tonight.
  20. The accents bit is spot on Hrbowski. I moved down to Austin, TX last year from Minnesota, expecting to talk to everyone with southern drawl accents. Little did I know there is no such accent in this city. However, the further east you go in Texas, the thicker the accent. They talk like they have molasses pouring out of their mouth. Even after a year away from god's country of 10,000 lakes, I still get comments all the time that I talk like a northerner.
  21. We have 3 starters in the rotation that I am confident with - Gibson, May, and never thought I would say this.... Mike Pelfrey. The synopsis on Hughes is convincing that he can turn it around, but overall I think it's going to be a down year for him compared to last year. With Nolasco... The Twins should throw him a party if he makes it through 6 innings.
  22. Much like others have mentioned, I am not sold on Arcia as an OF option in the future. Ideally I'd like to see Rosario-Buxton-Hicks for the future. Arcia seems to be too much of a head case this early in his career. The bat potential is there, but the guy shows no desire to be a serviceable OF. He could be a DH option, but we also have Vargas, Hunter, and Escobar who can fill that role. I don't know if Arcia just grew a big ego from hitting 20+ bombs in his rookie year, but he is certainly not consistent enough at the plate to forgive his bone headed mistakes in the field.
  23. It has to be some bullpen arms that gets the call from TR right? Stauffer's not lighting the world on fire right now... Also, has Alex Meyer completely fallen off the map for a potential promotion this year? Nolasco's spot in the rotation should not be set in stone.
  24. Unlike Byron Buxton who I am all for an aggressive approach to get him to the majors ASAP, I am completely fine with this conservative approach with Hicks. Maybe I would feel differently if the Twins have not already given him extended time and opportunities with the team over the last 2 seasons. He may only be a AAAA type of player who never really gets it figured out at the MLB level. I'd let him be the star of AAA for the time being, and if he continues to play this for a few more months, I'd like to see him in August/September
  25. Like most commenters have mentioned I am really enjoying this current string of good baseball by the Twins. Are we contenders yet? Too early to tell. But some promising trends so far: we have a 12-11 record so far in the AL Central. I'm too lazy (and a few drinks too far) on looking up stats, but it seemed like we were getting crushed by teams in our own division the last couple of years. We've also been winning against bad teams so far, which I hope continues the rest of the way. I think 3rd place in the Central is certainly possible this year as the White Sox took over as the division's dumpster fire, and the Indians SP has regressed; specifically Kluber. If we are within 10 games from a WC or division crown in mid-July, who will be our Shannon Stewart circa 2003 that brings us over the hump and back into the playoffs?
