  1. I just took a quick glance at the 1998 draft results, as Ryan Mills was brought up in the article. Obviously hindsight is 20/20 but there were a couple of interesting names taken after #6... Carlos Pena went #10 to the Rangers, our old friend Adam Everett went #12 to the Red Sox, Jeff Weaver #14 to the Tigers, and C.C. Sabathia #20 to the Indians just to name a couple.
  2. im depressed just thinking about those message boards.. Popular forum titles including: will the Wolves ever win? How long until the season's over? Rookies play great! Team still loses 120-88.
  3. Man I wish I was in MN this summer to be a part of the excitement. On a separate thought, all being equal, are we a baseball town, football, or hockey?
  4. Haha send all complaints to Vanimal49bestSP@gmail.com or call 1-800-VANIMAL to hear an automated recording on how Vance Worley created the Vanimal nickname on his own.
  5. Well gentleman in less than an hour we might be tied for the division lead with the Royals. Baseball is a funny game that way... I would have lost a lot of money betting the under wins total at the beginning of this season.
  6. Haha sorry, I get excited by any opportunity to get Nolasco off of this team. We're all acting like that one guy in our fantasy football/baseball leagues that offers the #28 scoring 3B for the #4 scoring 1B and thinks you're crazy for not accepting the deal of a lifetime.
  7. Out of all the trade possibilities out there, Nolasco for Ethier or Nolasco + mid-level prospect for Van Slyke feels like the most realistic option thrown out. I would be thrilled to see something like this happen. Like BMCACCAL mentioned, it would be relatively easier to dangle Either/ Van Slyke in future trade negotiations than Nolasco. If this were a real trade offer, I would pull the trigger on it.
  8. Happy 21st Berrios! Hopefully by this time next year he will be 3-4 starts into his career with the Twins!
  9. If that's the case where Gibson is the default Bumgarner, we are toast.
  10. I would have never guessed in a million years that Mike F'in Pelfrey would have put together this kind of streak pitching for the Twins. Since he's been doing so well, does that mean he will remain on the team for the remainder of the season? Or do you think he will still be shopped around in July?
  11. That's a good thought, we've only discussed proven MLB players as trade targets for our prospects. What if the Twins go in the opposite direction and trade for more prospects? What would the reaction be trading Plouffe away for a guy like Julio Urias?
  12. I am 100% bought in on the Berrios bandwagon. He is currently on the 40 man roster, correct? He has far surpassed Meyer as the first prospect in line for a promotion when a new starter is needed in the majors.
  13. A lot of the "problems" we talk about on these threads, which are just fun to speculate, could be solved by letting go of our golden boy Joe. It would never happen with his contract situation, but that would be the best way to keep Plouffe at 3rd and sneak in Sano at 1st for 2016.
  14. Plouffe will remain our starting 3rd baseman for the rest of this season. If and when Sano is called up, he will find his way into the lineup as a DH or spot starting at 3rd, 1st, or OF. Bring back Plouffe on arbitration, no long-term deal, and let's see what happens in 2016.
  15. Short term was a bad choice of words on my part. At the end of the day I don't see any realistic chance of getting any elite P on the market without Buxton, Sano, or Berrios involved in trade talks. And any of those 3 involved is a quick no thanks in my book.
  16. I love that for the first time in 5 years we are able to talk about being buyers at the trade deadline. However, we have a 0% chance of being involved in the Tulo or Hamels discussions. It took us 5 years to build up the cupboards in the minors, and now we want to clean out the cupboards for a short term fix again? I'll pass.
  17. My gut feel on Hicks, similar to others, is he will be a 4th OF. Doesn't seem like a guy who will ever be an above average hitter. In a career year maybe .260 with 20 HRs. His defense is good enough to keep his spot on the big club, but hopefully our other young OF develops to start over him in 2016 and beyond.
  18. I hope to see Achter come up soon. We need a shakeup of this current bullpen and I value a closer who's had some experience in high pressure situations. Pick your choice of Duensing or Stauffer to demote to AAA.
  19. If our lineup was struggling I would consider something like this. But with our current lineup producing and 3 DH options already, why bring another DH only option into the mix?
  20. I get why we made the trade at the time to acquire a guy with top of the rotation potential. However at the end of the day if we got just a middle reliever for Span, that's another loss for our trade history with TR. I'm not calling for his head....just making a mental note for evaluating him at the end of this season.
  21. Nice little cheap shot from TR that we didn't have a true ace during most of the playoff years. How quickly he forgot about Johan Santana.. I'm not overly pleased with TR's performance since his official return to GM. However I will keep quiet as long as we're competitive and contending like we are now. He's made clear expectations that he wants this team to be in the post season. And if that doesn't happen, he should be on the hot seat to lose his job.
  22. Seems like relief pitchers in general are so variable year in and year out. I'm glad we found Boyer on a good year. Not sure if he's a consistent sub 3 ERA guy year in and year out, but for the 2015 season he's a good asset to have in our bullpen.
  23. I stand corrected. 4 years. http://www.rotoworld.com/player/mlb/1172/cole-hamels
  24. Definitely if they want to have any of our prospects. If the big dogs come into play like the Dodgers, Yankees, Red Sox, etc. they won't even flinch at the $22.5 million price tag for Hamels.
  25. As much as I want to see Nolasco off of this team, that is way too steep of a price for Hamels. Having a guy like him and Mauer making a combined $46 million for the next 5 years won't work out well for the Twins when Buxton and the other young prospects are due for a pay day.
