  1. Doesn't make any sense to target "preferably an OF". I hope this is just Heyman throwing out rumors with no real substance behind it.
  2. Ugh, I thought we only had 2 years left of this contract...
  3. ABW sounds like our Pedro Cerrano.... "Straight ball I hit very much. Curve ball, bats are afraid..."
  4. No chance that the Twins put the pressure on Joe and force him out. On the other hand, maybe Joe makes the decision himself to walk away.. It would be hard on anyone's ego if you were an elite hitter, and all of a sudden it's gone. Do I think he would walk away from $46 million remaining on his contract? Probably not.... I'm afraid we're going to have a $23 mill / year part time 1B and DH very soon. EDIT: My prediction for final stat line is .270 5 HR .700 OPS
  5. What's in the water in Rochester? All of our demotions light up the stats sheet..... Except Arcia.
  6. While I do agree with you that 1B & C are problems, the way the roster is currently constructed there are no solutions in place. That could change with a deadline trade, but for the time being it's the best options we have. The Twins still have to make upgrades where they can, and Buxton is a definite upgrade to make in the OF. When will we see Buxton wearing a Twins jersey? I've given up guessing for now. I'm a member of the Bring Buxton up ASAP club since early April. As long as we don't have to see Jordan Schafer in a Twins jersey ever again, I'll be happy.
  7. To elaborate more on Plouffe, this is pretty much on par of what we've seen out of him his whole career. I've accepted this out of Plouffe, and is one of the main reasons I only want to offer arbitration this off-season over a multi-year extension. I'll include some splits since 2012: 2012: June .327/.391/.735 11 HR 21 RBI July .302/.343/.476 3 HR 9 RBI August .161/.232/.226 1 HR 7 RBI - bad September too 2013: May .292/.365/.477 2 HR 13 RBI June .321/.351/.528 3 HR 13 RBI July .189/.223/.300 3 HR 8 RBI August .196/.264/.330 2 HR 4 RBI - rebounded for a nice September 2014: April .304/.409/.478 1 HR 19 RBI May .204/.256/.381 4 HR 14 RBI July .219/.265/.375 2 HR 7 RBI Do you want to give a streaky hitter like this a multi-year extension? I certainly don't.
  8. Plouffe has shown year over year that he's a streaky hitter. We're witnessing the annual slump now, and hopefully the high points make up for the slumps. Mauer was a questionable #3 hitter even in the 90+ loss days, and this season it's painful to see how slow his bat has become. However like others have mentioned, it's not like we have a lot of options to fix it this year. Hopefully Vargas can wake up and seize the opportunity.
  9. I have an uneasy feeling in my guy that Duensing & Boyer aren't going anywhere off the MLB club. Polanco for Stauffer should be an automatic. I'll play along with this hypothetical though and say Meyer for Boyer, and any LH with a pulse for Duensing.
  10. If this becomes official, I'm going to be excited to see how he looks. Anyone is welcome to help spark the offense again.
  11. I would definitely consider it in the off-season. Don't know enough about Pawlecky to know for sure, but if he's an upgrade from Suzuki I would be fine with the downgrade at 3B for the 2016 season and accept the deal.
  12. Agreed. The coaches should be hitting the fungo so he can start tracking fly balls. But let's not make it sound like a transition to 1B or RF is rocket science. Plouffe as an example played exactly 1 game in LF in the minors, and we were throwing him in RF in the past when he was initially struggling at 3B & SS.
  13. Let Sano find his way into the lineup. Best thing the Twins can do is not hand over a starting job on a platter. If he starts raking on the MLB team, he will force his way into the lineup as a 3B, RF, DH, or 1B option.
  14. I would definitely buy a Trey Cabbage jersey one day if he ever made it to the show.
  15. Hughsie re-incarnated as Moon shot Scott Baker this year.
  16. With the 6th pick in the 2015 MLB Draft, the Twins select... Tyler Jay, reliever, University of Illinois. The next Glen Perkins?
  17. Oh don't worry, it's already happening to me with technology and I'm 25! A friend of mine showed me an app called Periscope and I was completely lost.
  18. #youguysunderstandtwitter #savingspaces
  19. If he can get the bat figured out I'd like to keep him & Vargas as a DH platoon. Pinto seems to be the one with no oportunity for advancement in the organization.
  20. In order to increase the value on Arcia, and Pinto do they need to find a way to make it back up to the MLB club? Or is it simply they need to start raking in at AAA and others will notice? I agree the Twins eventually need to make some trades as they all profile as the same type of player.
  21. I agree with blairpaul, the best bet for him to make an impact on the MLB club this year would be from the bullpen. Perhaps they're getting him used to coming out in the 7th-8th innings and throw gas. Long-term I'd like to see him back in the rotation as that provides more value. But if he found his niche in the bullpen, that's not all bad either. Better than having a struggling AAA starter that will never see the MLB lights.
  22. God bless you Hrbowski for being the lone Escobar defender. I don't agree with you, but still respect your opinion. Even Christian Ponder had apologists until the bitter end of his Vikings career. Escobar needs one person on his side on TD.
  23. After today's start, Milone's the odd man out of the rotation.
