  1. This post is just to play devil's advocate. Let's say for the sake of argument that the month and a half time line proposed by nytwinsfan is May 31st. At that time, Plouffe was batting .279/.352/.488 with 8 HR 29 RBI. Meanwhile Susac was batting .217/.333/.326 with 1 HR 3 RBI. The Giants wouldn't have picked up the phone and listened to that offer at the time? Since then Susac has earned more playing time and seen success at the plate as well. Do you believe his price tag is still the same after his new found playing time and success?
  2. It's a huge red flag in my opinion that Boyer is on pace for 76 appearances this season... Especially as Nick pointed out he's had 37 appearances in the last 4 seasons combined! I suspect the number of appearances to drop significantly in the 2nd half, otherwise a guy like him will certainly burn out by the end of the season. It took a little bit longer than we wanted, but Gibson is the real deal. I have the most confidence in him out of all our starting pitchers this year. I'm also fine with the aggressiveness on the base paths, even if it's resulting in more CS. I know there have been gripes on the game threads that base running has cost us additional runs scored, but what percentage does that actually happen?
  3. I think one AL Central team could be sellers, but yet have to accept that fate yet.... The Motor City Kitties.
  4. Haha no kidding. I've never received 3 responses so quickly on TD than that weather post.
  5. I guess we're feeling the same thing down here in Texas. More of a dry heat today but it's currently 94 in Austin today. Gonna be flirting with 100 the next 10 days
  6. Detroit broadcast is showing the players in the dugout putting wet towels over their heads. Is it that sticky up in Minneapolis today?
  7. Oh my god it's Trevor May! Long time no see my friend....
  8. I would recommend getting a new boy on the Twins. There's approximately 24 better options to choose from.
  9. And his last 7 appearances were all in garbage time either down or up by 6+ runs correct?
  10. On 2nd thought, we may need another 3 runs to feel confident in bringing out Duensing.
  11. Call down to the bullpen and let Duensing know he may be used at some point this afternoon.
  12. You can't throw Plouffe a beach ball down the middle...
  13. They had their fun over the last 5 years. Now to quote Herb Brooks "It's OVER."
  14. I've been on the Anti-Arcia bandwagon since he got hurt, but I'm starting to come around. He could certainly replace Robinson on the active roster and find his way into a couple of games. Long term I still envision a Buxton-Rosario-Hicks-Hunter (if he comes back) - Kepler OF. Since Arcia's out of options in 2016, they need to be certain he can stick for an entire season, or else see what his trade value is in July.
  15. So much for this being a pitchers duel.... the flood gates came flying open that inning!
  16. Greene found his groove. Might be a pitchers duel this afternoon
  17. Dare I say Danny Santana's turning things around?
  18. Ah good point. So basically he pitched a full minor league season to get to that 150 #. Eventually they need to take off the training wheels and stretch him out to reach 200+ IP for the future. Not sure at what increments the staff goes by to get to the end goal. Do most teams increase it 25 IP a season? Case by case? Ideally I'd like May to be a 180-200 inning starter as early as next season.
  19. May's seemingly had an innings cap of 150 IP since 2011. i wonder if he's still at that limit of 150 or if they could have stretched it out more to 175? Either way that's my theory for stashing him in the bullpen for now... to save his innings for a playoff push. However, it's ridiculous to not have a plan for him while he's in the pen. Why not give him a shot as a 7th-8th inning reliever??
  20. Not as much as you think. My buddy's a diehard Cubs fan they go with a 3 man revolving door at closer with Rondon, Motte, and Strop. No one of the 3 have won the job full time.
  21. Not sure that's going to be the best offer than Amaro sees when he fetches calls on Papelbon. The Cubbies desperately need a closer to stay in contention, and I bet his old buddy Theo Epstein would pony up to acquire him.
  22. Haha blame it on my phone's auto-correct! I haven't typed ACHTER enough in messages... meanwhile Duensing fills in perfectly, and my phone already assumes the next phrase... "is awful"
