  1. Unfortunately using TR quotes doesn't help with staying out of the doghouse.... "Honey I have every intention of improving this trash situation." "I don't want you to think a white knight is coming around the corner."
  2. I may be a young pup with relationships but I've already learned that it's better to just do what she asks to avoid being in the dog house
  3. Not too often that the Yankees or Red Sox aren't the class of the AL East. The Blue Jays see their window of actually competing for a playoff spot, even the division, and going for it. How can you not applaud that as a fan?
  4. The Jepsen acquisition does nothing for me... I'm not outraged, not excited, it's just too little too late. The Blue Jays continue to load up for the playoff race. It's like if your significant other asks you for months to take out the trash. If you ignore it for months, and at the very last minute you say hey honey, look the trash it out! The damage is done already.
  5. It's a meticulous process digging through the dumpster these days.....
  6. Guys, our trade deadline woes are over! Vanimal was DFA'd by the Pirates today......
  7. Thanks for the chart. Yeah no kidding on the inherited runners comment. If there was an ERA based off of that, Boyer would be at Meyers level 16.88
  8. I just found this old TD gem that went over the Garza / Delmon trade http://twinsdaily.com/articles.html/_/minnesota-twins-news/minnesota-twins/20-twins-trades-garza-and-bartlett-for-delmon-young-r1939 The Twins shouldn't get any credit for turning TB into a powerhouse. give all credit to their FO for selling high on Garza and obtaining all of those prospects.
  9. Another high profile player on the move. http://espn.go.com/mlb/story/_/id/13343205/philadelphia-phillies-deal-cole-hamels-texas-rangers
  10. I couldn't give you a list of names, because I'd prefer the eventual successor to come from outside of the Twins circle. There's a list of teams I'd explore poaching someone from: - Cardinals: consistent player development - Pirates: understanding of mid-market payroll, player development, and seemingly no issues resurrecting re-tread Twins. - Royals: Division knowledge, aggressive approach - Rays - A's
  11. The Brewers also receive Wilmer Flores 23 year old SS in the deal. http://hardballtalk.nbcsports.com/2015/07/29/mets-acquire-center-fielder-carlos-gomez-from-brewers/
  12. I just spent an embarrassing amount of time researching just so I can tell you this. YEP! I knew I typed that exact post before today. http://twinsdaily.com/topic/18208-article-player-development-is-key-to-establishing-fans-trust/?do=findComment&comment=341670
  13. The Twins have punted any opportunity to improve so far. Might as well stay consistent with that approach.
  14. He's gotten way too cozy in the country club atmosphere at One Twins Way. Let's not forget he was quoted at the beginning of this season that he fully expected this team to be in the playoffs. He set the expectations, and if he doesn't get us there, he should certainly be on the hot seat to lose his job.
  15. I had this exact song playing while I was starting this thread.
  16. Pitchers don't need to work out like madmen to be successful. It has no effect on their pitching. See: CC Sabathia, Bartolo Colon, David Wells, Bob Wickman, and my personal favorite Ben Ancheff. Link on Ben Ancheff: http://www.sbnation.com/lookit/2015/5/29/8690519/st-thomas-bobcats-pitcher-ben-ancheff-is-our-new-favorite-athlete
  17. I suppose you could make the argument that our internal options aren't better than what we current have on staff, since TR has made minimal effort to rotate players in and out. All I ask is to do something different. It's insane to continue to employ 3 RP who have struggled for months. Once again, if this is the plan, to continue the status quo, wave the white flag - it's over. And it's a damn shame to waste a competitive season on guys who have no future on this team after 2015.
  18. Maybe it's a little too early to say this on July 29, 2015... But I feel that last night's game can be a turning point on this season. It's painfully clear that this roster currently set up has peaked, and now is on the decline. If nothing is done to improve the weaknesses of this team, wave the white flag now. All I can do when thinking about this bullpen is a combination of F bombs and LOL. Casey Fien needs to go to Tim Stauffer purgatory and build confidence back up in very low leverage situations. Blaine Boyer, it's been interesting friend, but your time is done - DFA. Brian Duensing, oh what are we going to do without the Duensing punching bag on TD? I personally will never trust him in high leverage situations - DFA. I'm hoping last night's embarrassment is the breaking point for TR, and changes will finally be made. But if this is the only plan; to have this group of guys on the MLB roster, and still remain in playoff contention? I don't see it happening.
  19. I could go for a Tremendous Twelve right now. You?
  20. And the absolutely strange saga of Trevor May continues.....
  21. Another example of a buyers market this season, and no sign of a trade being made at One Twins Way.. I guess TR is thinking why pay Black Friday prices when you can wait for the "Everything Must Go!" sale in August... Ugh.
  22. You know I read the same thing. But I also read: Player A has a .773 OPS since signing that extension, and has been dropping steadily since that deal was signed. Player B has an OPS of .818 since signing that extension, a down year by player B's standards. Still a number that Player A has only reached 3 times in his career, and not since 2011. It's adorable to count WAR for player A at 3.5 years and player B at 0.5 years to make the numbers significantly different. How about we go from the same point of reference, just to make it fair. Player A has put up a 9.2 WAR over the last 3.5 years. Player B has put up a 19 WAR over the last 3.5 years. **73.5% of all statisticians know that 62% of all stats can be manipulated to prove an agenda**
  23. I can't guess he will be a SS 3 years from now just like you can't guess he won't. All I know is if his SS playing days are numbered, he still has an elite bat that can stick in a non-premium position on the field, or DH.
  24. All fine and dandy, can't argue with your reasoning that C and RP are pressing needs. Unfortunately C was not available, and an elite SS was at a discounted price. The Twins need a lot of things to go right (Polanco's D MIGHT improve, Gordon MIGHT be ready by 18/19) They are all still question marks....
