  1. The Twins have a potential solution right in front of their eyes for a 7th/8th inning guy and refuse to give him a shot. It's a shame, really...
  2. Something to think about: Moving. I'm in the process of doing that this weekend by moving all of my smaller items today, and hired movers to move the big stuff tomorrow. Realized that I've moved a specific can of Bush's baked beans for least 3 different times as the expiration date was December 2009. Today's weather was 95. Tomorrow's forecast for the bigger items: 97 with a heat index of 105.
  3. I'm shocked the ABW Fan Club has not responded to your cheap shot yet.... They were here just a couple of weeks ago. Where'd they go?
  4. #6 on the HR list with 630, and the batting stance I copied playing backyard baseball as a kid... " The Kid" Ken Griffey Jr.
  5. At my 8-5, I learned I've been doing all of my clients a disservice by not asking "Do you believe in bigfoot?" to candidates in interviews...
  6. You have 9 position players with an ETA of 2016... How many are already on the 40 man and how many need to be added? Seems pretty aggressive to assume the Twins have that many spots available for position players beginning next season.
  7. A guy who punched the cement wall in the dugout, breaking his pitching hand in the process. SP Kevin Brown
  8. The Man with an ox... Jim Thome http://mit.zenfs.com/121/2011/04/thome_ox_behind.jpg
  9. 3B Joe Crede
  10. SP David Wells - who famously claimed to be "half-drunk" pitching a perfect game against our favorite club... http://assets.nydailynews.com/polopoly_fs/1.420566.1314527772!/img/httpImage/image.jpg_gen/derivatives/article_970/amd-wells-reacts-jpg.jpg
  11. 3B Troy Glaus
  12. Vance Worley - the real Vanimal.....
  13. Quinton McCracken
  14. SP Bob Tewksbury - remember him from the terrible Twins days in 1998?
  15. RP Brad Hand - Chaska, MN The only MLB pitcher I have 1 PA from my HS career that many compared to Bill Bergen.....0-1 1 K 1 foul ball.
  16. Berrios is clearly the gem of this group already at AAA and dominant at each level. The others have more work to do being in A or lower. 2 years from now I'd love to see Berrios have significant (more than a cup of coffee) MLB experience, and the rest of them either in AA or AAA. I would be very happy if we had an entire rotation of 22-24 year olds in the minors, and weed out the veterans.
  17. Perhaps that PTBNL could be performance-based. Give them a list of 5 players in the 15-30 range in our system. If Benoit plays well and has x number of appearances, they get the highest player on the list. If he's a bust, they get the lowest ranked player on the list.
  18. That would be ideal! From what I was reading on that Grantland article he's in deep water by taking on all of those high $ contracts. Makes me think we could get Benoit for a PTBNL & pick up the check the rest of the season.
  19. I would hope TR doesn't take on another player with an untradeable contract.. We already have enough of those with Nolasco $12M ($1M buyout in 2018) and E. Santana $13.5M ($1M buyout in 2019) There was an interesting read on grantland that reviews the Padres flurry of trades last offseason; the team foolish enough to make that Melvin Upton trade... I wouldn't put a 1st time GM on the same level as TR. http://grantland.com/features/aj-preller-mlb-san-diego-padres-national-league-west/
  20. Are you willing to give up Berrios? That's most likely the starting point of that trade negotiation.
  21. It's been a long time since I thought about Troy Williamson.... In case your organization needs a motivational speaker, he's available for hire.... And a proud owner? of a Which Wich. http://abouttroywilliamson.com/
  22. Judging from the latest photo of him on TD, it doesn't look like he passes up the opportunity to go to Fogo De Chao..... http://www.milb.com/assets/images/6/7/2/76575672/cuts/recap_523_640x360_klzbp3f9_qll31gp7.jpg
  23. This ties into our discussion on the catcher's forum yesterday. Meyer's perceived value may be at or near rock bottom, but his price tag none the less is still the same as it was if an offer was made in ST correct? A guy ranked as the #30 prospect in baseball with 5+ years of team control should still have the same value in the long game whether he had a 180 ERA in AAA or a 0.15 ERA in the majors over the last couple of months...
  24. Exactly. So it's my belief that Papelbon will be a Chicago Cub by July 31st.
  25. I get where you're coming from. And you agree Susac's value is higher now on the Giants. In theory that should drive up his price tag for other teams to acquire his talents compared to a month and a half ago. Which is nytwinsfan's point if I'm understanding his side of the discussion. Back in May maybe Susac's value was a guy like Plouffe to get the deal done. Now that there's a little bit of success behind a young talented catcher, the price now could be Plouffe + a 10-15 ranked prospect. Either way I agree with nytwinsfan that it would have been easier to negotiate for that player a month and a half ago than it is today.
