  1. I know Reusse has said they've spent tens of millions per year on development (to the detriment of the payroll was his angle), but I'd be curious to know something close to what the actual figure is. Not that we'll ever know.
  2. Since June 1st he's hitting .290/.328/.533, not sure why stats from 3+ months ago are all that relevant.
  3. I think so. Certainly better than he's looked anywhere in the OF this year.
  4. Or Dobnak, I'd rather see what Blewett has got. Just not in a situation where he has a chance to blow it...
  5. I never would have guessed that this was coming so soon, I assumed he would probably be a September bullpen call up if anything. Can't argue with his production in the minors this year though, he's been incredible - particularly given how quickly they have promoted him. Even in St. Paul there's a lot to like under the hood of the 5.68 ERA. A 28.4% strikeout rate and a miniscule 1.2% walk rate while having to deal with the automatic zone, getting more groundballs than flyballs and having an uncharacteristically high HR rate. Festa has been bit by that bug in the majors too, and he's throwing a lot more in the zone so I could maybe see this carrying over for Zebby too. That will probably be the key on whether or not he has a rough start to his career. Very exciting! The pipeline is certainly here this year, and they need it to perform the rest of the way.
  6. If Louie can ever stop throwing the ball right down the middle with 2 strikes, he could be a pretty decent starter. He's got the stuff
  7. I posted the ranking for each stat, both of which say the Twins bullpen has been significantly better. And you definitely want the pitcher with a better FIP in the playoffs.
  8. Which team? Twins bullpen is 12th in ERA but 4th in FIP. Royals are 22nd & 23rd.
  9. They're a good defensive team which is helping to prop up fairly average pitching and an average offense. Bullpen is very bad. It's a nice year for them, but it's taken Bobby Witt challenging Aaron Judge for the MVP and an incredible performance from Seth Lugo to get them here. They're just too top heavy of a team at the moment. They're much better than I thought they'd be, though.
  10. Depending on the source, the Twins win probability dropped by 0.4-1% after that GIDP, plummeting down to 96%. Basically, the Cubs were in a terrible situation regardless and it didn't really impact their chances of winning.
  11. Festa was dealing tonight. All 3 pitches were working very well together. 8 called strikes for the fastball which was very good again - most of those were painted. And the changeup worked really well off of the low fastball, a 53% whiff rate isn't too bad for a "30 grade pitch". Bats did enough, Wallner continues to crush baseballs, I have no idea how that Margot homer got out with the wind blowing in. Bullpen was fantastic. Duran's velo is still concerning, which made it less surprising to see Jax come in for the save against the heart of the Cubs' lineup. He's earned it with how well he's pitched this year.
