  1. Still flummoxed as to why people think he's got some ungodly contract that would be a burden to take on. He's owed ~$750,000 for the rest of this year and $3 million next year, and has 3 fairly inexpensive club options that would be well worth it if he can be a #5 starter.
  2. From that second link, I guess you could argue semantics with what I wrote but if you're looking at any fWAR numbers since 2016 they don't factor in UZR any more. And from here https://blogs.fangraphs.com/2024-fangraphs-war-update/ Everything is from Statcast now, and retroactive to 2016. UZR will not be available after next season.
  3. Kirilloff got put on the IL for his shoulder at the end of July last season. He played a grand total of 12 innings in the outfield in all of July, and only 1 inning after July 14.
  4. Fangraphs has used OAA since 2016, and like I've said before no serious baseball analyst or sabermetrician has used UZR in years. That's just reality.
  5. DRS and OAA are simply superior to decrepit metrics like UZR and RF/9. And I'm pretty sure the suggestion here is to have Miranda as the RHP-side of the platoon, at least for this year.
  6. A manager's decision, by definition, requires relying on players to perform. So no, it's apples to apples.
  7. I'm not allowed to have a different opinion than your echo chamber? Rocco is well above .500, and you probably wouldn't want to apply that winning standard to other managers from Twins history I don't think.
  8. And it wouldn't result in a tangibly different outcome in games won!
  9. Funny how simply not blaming everything on Rocco is enough to rile up so many folks.
  10. And, like I've been saying this whole time, just because a manager's decision fails doesn't mean that he's responsible for the loss when there are much more obvious reasons they didn't score enough to win.
  11. Sure, that's a bad decision. But acting like every time he does it it's some sort of game losing decision, when they grounded out with a guy on 3rd to end the inning multiple times is obviously a bigger reason for not scoring a run. And the alternative is having a lefty who hits .100-something face a specialist designed to get them out is guaranteed to succeed.
  12. Giving away an out for free is bad unless you only need 1 run to win the game. Not bunting is not a "Rocco" thing, it's a "baseball in 2024" thing. The team with the most sacrifice bunts in the league has 18 in 102 games.
  13. The comments immediately after the game were that they won the game in spite of Rocco.
  14. Straw man argument at its finest. If you can't see that is exactly what happens around here, particularly with people seriously thinking he's cost the team upwards of 10 wins this year, I don't know what to tell you. They had a bunch of chances to score runs before the Margot pinch hit, but that apparently was the game defining moment? Give me a break! I'm viewed as some sort of Rocco defender, but the reality is that managers really don't have that much of an effect on the games - particularly regarding in-game moves. Creating a culture and the day-to-day refining and getting guys right is FAR more important. I wouldn't really care if he got fired, but you can do a LOT worse than Rocco. And it's an undeniable fact that he's only criticized when a decision goes wrong and does not get anywhere near that amount of praise when a decision works out.
  15. Whatever you need to tell yourself!
  16. Right, but only the negative consequences are ever considered on his record. Guys failing to hit with the bases loaded becomes Rocco's fault by the end of the game, which is just funny to me.
  17. "Rocco sucks but at least his players want to win" when they win, "Rocco sucks" when they lose. Way to keep the players accountable!
  18. "great points" I guess you mean all the posts trashing Rocco after he bunted the winning run to 3rd, doing exactly what those people wanted! The hypocrisy is exhausting, so I thumbs down. I think you'll live!
  19. "1-4 homestand this team sucks"
  20. Thanks for signaling that I don't have to take anything you write seriously! You've been trashing Pablo for weeks and now you want to turn around and try to act like that's a good comparison? Even you can't seriously believe the crap you're spewing. "Dominating" the Mexican league and a 60-game season CY from 4 years ago, hahaha give me a break. Some of the least serious evaluation I've seen on here. For how hard you are on every Twins player, you're giving Bauer an incredible amount of leeway in completely uninspiring stats.
  21. Seems like Duran should only throw offspeed
  22. Where did you hear they told him to slim down? He was dealing with a shoulder injury for all of last year and got surgery for it at the end of the year - that's why he struggled last year.
