  1. I think a season of analyzing the entire Twins system before making any rash personnel moves is very smart. No sense throwing the baby out with the bathwater in order to make 40 man roster moves that may be beneficial this season, but may also prove to be problematic in the next couple years. I'm going to give Falvey and Levine a couple years to work their system before I judge them too critically. So far I am okay with the moves they've made.
  2. Long time listener, first time caller, Mr Bonnes. Is there any team in history that has been in the position the Twins are now and "won it all"? And then to say that none of the prospects obtained in these deals will make a difference in their future? I will put my money on at least a couple of the new guys making a dent in the future. The Twins are not a couple of relievers away from a championship. They need at least three dependable starters and the same amount of relief pitching. Beefing up for the future is the right thing to do at this point.
  3. Agree 100% (except the use of the phrase "secret sauce" which I dislike). This trade deadline was a polar opposite to the Terry Ryan era. For the first time in a long time, the Twins were players. They dumped pending free agents and JRM for some seemingly really good upside pitching prospects. I think the player draft was also handled in a much more "big picture"manner. I am very hopeful for the future. I think the team is in a much better place than it was a year ago. Baby steps.
  4. Still hopin' for Joan.http://i.telegraph.co.uk/multimedia/archive/01479/joan4_1479722c.jpg

  6. A talented, athletic shortstop can play practically everywhere and, as mentioned before, can be flipped for pitching if there becomes a logjam. Besides, the last few years Twins scouting of Latin American players has produced better results than their homegrown picks. Great pick up!
  7. Also, Berrios getting a start in PR would be pretty dang fun to watch.
  8. Man, I'd hate to see Escobar go. I know that "good clubhouse guy" isn't backed up with any stats, but Edwardo is the poster boy for guys you'd want on your squad.
  9. http://twitter.com/BlayneBlaynee/status/874679854863659009 A good sign?
  10. I like him too. Sounds like the back injury, once healed, will not be a concern. A good candidate to throw some extra money at and pry away from Stanford.
  11. My love for Robbie Grossman grew 10X that day,
  12. Wouldn't it be cool if Gibby just figured it out; once and for all?
  13. Jack Morris is the bottom of my list. Monotone delivery. Doesn't really seem to add much insight or excitement to the broadcast. I like Bert in small doses but it has been great getting some variety in the booth. Both Torii and LaTroy have a better feel for the current generation of ballplayers that the others lack. I get very tired of the the "back in my day" take on everything.
  14. In spite of every argument to the contrary, I am all-in on Hunter Greene. I will be disappointed in any other selection. He has the potential to be amazing. You gotta take a chance on that kind of potential. Sure, the probability is he falls short of the hype. But if the Twins pass and does he becomes a once in a generation talent we'll be kicking ourselves in the a$$ for not taking a shot.
  15. Toaster Strudel for everyone!
  16. Hope springs eternal! I'll take my son to the home opener with high hopes for an entertaining and a (at least slightly) competitive season. I will watch or listen to pretty much every game unless/until the games become more irritating than interesting. I am expecting improved play from Buxton, Kepler, Rosario and Polanco. I am wishing that Gibson continues to look as good as he has in ST. I am expecting Park and Berrios to be called up quickly. I want the young guys to step up and the old guys to perform to expectations and lead or get replaced, quickly. I will be satisfied if this season at least demonstrates that the foundation is being laid for (not too distant) future success.
  17. This is a hopefully a positive sign that the Terry Ryan era is definitely over. Positions should go to those who have earned them.
