1. At this point in the season, who cares? Rochester is fighting for a playoff spot. Mastroianni is getting a good look filling Span's spot.
2. I feel sorry for Nishi, but yeah it's time to cut bait. He's had enough time to figure things out, it appears he is just not built for the American game.
3. Blackburn??... Blackburn??!!! Hendricks should be able to take that #5 spot
4. I would hate to see him go. He plays hard, plays well and is a class act. If he does go, we had better get some high ceiling pitching prospects in return.
5. Say what you will, I believe he is hitting better because he cut his girly hair. Seriously, great article Parker!
6. I'm pretty sure they have mail delivery in Beloit.
7. Adam Walker's dad was RB for the Vikings. No, not Herschel. http://www.judolphins.com/baseball/roster/140/2401/
8. Yes. Best player available.
9. No. Initial reaction was fine. Then had to be cool in spite of background noise and high school classmates.
10. Gausman does not appear to project as an "Ace". [h=5]Scouting Report from mlb.com[/h]Fastball: Gausman has plenty of arm strength. He's been up to 95 mph in the past and was sitting 89-93 mph in this start. Fastball movement: Throws a pretty straight fastball. Slider: It's a below-average slider that's been flat and without bite. Curve: His curve is below-average. Changeup: He has trouble throwing his changeup for strikes. Control: Shows average overall command but struggles commanding his secondary stuff. Poise: Has decent mound presence. Physical Description: Gausman is tall and wiry. He's projectable, but he might have some difficulty putting on weight. Medical Update: Healthy. Strengths: It's all about arm strength and the ability to throw an above-average to plus fastball. He's got a projectable frame and is very athletic. Weaknesses: His secondary stuff is all below-average, both in command and effectiveness. Summary: Gausman is a known name in Draft circles after hitting the summer showcase circuits. In those settings, he was able to show off his plus arm strength and the ability to light up radar guns from a projectable frame. This spring, however, he hasn't shown the aptitude to do much else consistently. His secondary stuff has not been sharp, and he struggles to throw any of those offerings for strikes. As a "name" prospect who does have big-time arm strength, he's still likely to garner some interest, but it seems like his stock has taken a hit this spring.
11. At least his arm will not be a liability in the outfield... According to reports from Albert Chen of Sports Illustrated, Buxton has clocked the fastest time out of the box by any right-handed prospect since Bo Jackson, and his arm has been clocked at 99 miles an hour (he is going to be a centerfielder, but he has pitched throughout high school). According to that same article written on May 22, Buxton is hitting .545 this season and has stolen 35 bases in 36 attempts. Given the fact that he is 6'3" and currently 180 pounds, he might fill out even more and add on more power.
12. I like Buxton. He's "a highlight reel waiting to happen"! ".
13. My draft prediction: regardless of who the Twins pick, 75% of the comments regarding the pick will be negative.
14. Amen. I am amazed by all who claim to have the inside dope on Gardy's relationship with players.
15. I love AJ. The Twins could use a guy like him. He is a competitor. He is an a-hole. He plays hard!
16. Greinke is a headcase. We don't need anymore of that.
17. Definitely worth taking a look at Komatsu. He's playing a bit over his head having never played AAA but was the Brewers minor league player of the year in 2010. Has much more upside than Clete.
18. Maybe the Pohlads could find a 14 year old whiz kid to (against all odds) manage this ragtag bunch of underacheivers to the World Series!
19. It's always darkest before the dawn. Sorry, that's all I got right now.
20. As long as Butera remains as bench insurance with Doughnut and Mauer getting in the line up everyday, I am cool with this.
21. Definitely give him a shot in the bullpen. Whatever Liriano's problem is seems to be between the ears. Hopefully the change will do him good. Give him a shot at redeeming himself and possibly the chance of another team (not the Twins) signing him next year.
22. http-~~-//mlb.mlb.com/video/play.jsp?content_id=20089373&topic_id=&c_id=mlb&tc id=vpp_copy_20089373&v=3 A short review on Kepler from mlb.com. Here's a WSJ from a couple years ago that gives some good background info on the Baryshnikov in Baseball Cleats . It is Kepler's unique background that led me to adopt him as my prospect. He is currently in extended spring training, but should "hopefully" be playing with the Snappers at some point in the near future.
23. http-~~-//www.youtube.com/watch?v=hTTZu1BF4cI [h=2]Prospect Info and Scouting Report[/h]Max Kepler / OF, MIN Born 2/10/1993 (19 yrs old) Berlin, Germany Height 6-4 Weight 180 Bats/Throws L/L 549 ScoutingBook Combine Ranking (4/23/2012): #449 MiLB.com Season Preview: Unranked or n/a Scout.com/FOX Sports: Unranked or n/a ESPN: Unranked or n/a The Sporting News: Unranked or n/a Baseball America 2012: Unranked or n/a Baseball Prospectus: Unranked or n/a Max Kepler-Rozycki is a big, strong, German-born outfielder deep in the Minnesota Twins system. He gets high marks from scouts for his instincts, baseball build and raw tools. At the same time, he's very young and hasn't established much of a baseline in professional play yet: we haven't yet seen him in anything higher than Appy-League play (.262/.347/.366 in only 191 at-bats). In that time, Kepler showed decent contact ability and good speed, coupled with some pretty rough but promising defense. He's been tested in each outfield position, and seems most comfortable as a left-fielder, though that has to be written in the faintest of pencil at this point. Give Kepler a couple of years, then check back to see whether he's blossomed enough that we can start making puns about stars yet.
