  1. I get that he's our best option currently. The fact that he's the best option our 'stellar' farm system could develop for one of our starting jobs worries me. I don't think we'll ever see him have the plate disciple necessary to get to a respectable/acceptable OBP. So far, his OBP in the majors around .292 and that's with a very good BABIP around .334. But he can play defense respectable enough to man all spots and isn't completely embarrassing at the plate. BTW, shocking he couldn't maintain those triples. Who knew? ;-)
  2. We have one. His name is Rosario. We need a starting corner OF, though.
  3. yes
  4. I think it's absolutely awesome when women who know their stuff do broadcasts/talk sports. We have to endure a bunch of men who can't seem to get the easiest stuff/info correct, if a woman can get the job done, it works for me. Basically, anyone competent, or hopefully better, works for me.
  5. 3 of the 5, with the White Sox and the Twins being left out.
  6. Who are those 5 or 6 that are FA? As far as I know, we have one FA. That's part of the problem. And we can't trade free agents.
  7. No, you had it right. One of the best series of all time.
  8. Baez also struck out significantly less in the minors. About 27% his last two seasons in AAA while getting on base 35% of the time? Oh, and he can play defense too. Top notch defense. Amazing defense. But wait, what was his TEAM'S record when he hit a HR? How many championships did his minor league TEAMS win? ;-)
  9. Announcers just got done saying that Scherzer said he had to come up with a pitch (the cutter that comes in on the hands of lefties) because he could never get Mauer out so he needed to develop a pitch to do it while in Detroit.
  10. I still watch it on Netflix. Hasn't lost it's touch.
  11. Yeah, that'd be horrible. Worse than Colon winning Cy Young in 2005.
  12. As much of a fan I am of Dozier (since before most seemed to be even paying attention to him) he's not even the top candidate for MVP from his own position. That distinction belongs to Altuve (with Cano POSSIBLY #2 at 2B). Even if we were close to making the playoffs, or had made the playoffs, I doubt he'd be mentioned alongside Trout, Betts, Donaldson, Altuve or Machado. Dozier was a top 10 AL player and we can be happy for him based on that.
  13. I'm completely sold on him in RF. The metrics back up what my eyes were seeing.
  14. TBS. FS1 will do the NL games, BTW.
  15. There is SOOOOOOO much money in the game and teams are making SOOOOOOOO much money, that it shouldn't be hard to figure a way to pay the minor league guys better wages. Doesn't matter what they make in the majors, that's a whole separate issue.
  16. Estrada is mad/disappointed he didn't/couldn't finish the game. With a nine run lead and only two outs to go, sort of don't blame him for being mad/disappointed. I hope Texas gets swept and the games are all blowouts.
  17. If excitement in offense is judged by HRs only, yeah. When a young top notch power prospect is a horrible defender at any corner spot on the field, and his bat is the only redeeming quality in his game, a wRC+ of 107 (or OPS+ of 110 if one prefers) is quite a disappointment, regardless of the HRs.
  18. They were exactly average for OBP in the NL and slightly above average in MLB.
  19. Depends on the school. I mean, TECHNICALLY yes, but how much they really study and go to school at some of those colleges makes one wonder how much education they got.
  20. I understand that and I'm sure the writers of the show are counting on that reality to make things even more difficult for the 'heroes' to do what they need to do.
  21. The African American guy even said he didn't think he should go because history wasn't very good to people like him. Then the people in charge told him that he knew why it was him who had to go.
  22. The special forces guy.
  23. The woman is supposedly the best historian there is and the African American guy is the tech guy who helped build the machine so he knows how to work it.
