  1. Did anyone ever watch the recent BBC America series 'The Musketeers'? Fantastic series with amazing acting in it.
  2. Reminder: Dirk Gently premieres Saturday.
  3. I LOVE Lethal Weapon. It is, IMO, a very good show. Good chemistry between the two leads, it's just fun to watch. I also love the Blacklist. For the most part, though, the four main Networks shows are slowly dying. They have to step up their game if they have any chance to survive with scripted programming. There isn't one comedy worth watching on any of those any more, and very few dramas. P.S. There's nothing wrong with Keifer Sutherland's acting.
  4. Yeah, he specifically talked about Terry's strategy and Terry wasn't GM when Sano, Kepler and Polanco were signed.
  5. https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-T0yLgdwKF_E/V17jL6dJ5SI/AAAAAAABLsg/izH3Qx4WzPo8iozmdsRAYjMvz0nXjrXcgCLcB/s1600/broken-record-765056.jpg
  6. Indians AL Champs, 28th in attendance.
  7. I guess Bautista was wrong about Merritt shaking in his boots...
  8. Yeah, I'd imagine more than that. I wonder what would have been said if he had praised Gonsalves. Kiley McDaniel used to get the same treatment here.
  9. And hopefully he gets it. Guy is a turd (but should still be in the HOF).
  10. In the last 19 years, St Louis has a couple titles, KC has a title and been there twice in a row. Marlins have a couple titles, Arizona has one. So yeah, markets our size and smaller can win W Series. For me though, the results of a postseason tournament doesn't prove much except who got hot at the right time. Small sample sizes for days. Cubs are the best team in baseball. If they don't win the W Series, still the best team in baseball.
  11. James Shields? :-)
  12. Some ways Polanco's 2016 season differed from Santana's 2014 season. Polanco's BABIP was like 80 points lower than Santana's and within 4 points of what his professional BABIP is. His K rate was quite a bit lower than Santana's and his walk rate was higher. And it's not like Polanco's offense was through the roof, either. He had a wRC+ of 101. In other words, nothing seems fluky about his offensive production. Nothing screams outs as unsustainable. Not to say he won't crash and burn, but I see little comparison to Santana's 2014.
  13. I think Ash was saying that if our rotation is so bad that we actually miss Pat Dean, our offseason can be deemed a failure.
  14. Looking at Toronto out in the field on defense around the 3rd or 4th inning, they looked like they had already lost the ALCS.
  15. It's been said time and time again that due to our poor draft position over the years, our prospects have been less than good (let's disregard we did things like pass on Pedroia six times in one draft, and Boston took him in the 2nd round with their first pick of that draft). What should one expect from a #5 draft pick (like Gordon)? Would it be okay if/ whenever he gets here, that one is disappointed in a guy if he only ends up a solid player as opposed to a star player? I ask because some keep saying we have to lower expectations for Buxton and be okay if he ends up being quite a bit lesser of a player than he was. And if these guys, and some others we've gotten higher up in the draft the last few years, underwhelm when/if they get to the majors (based on what people were projecting them to be and their draft position ), can we still blame it on draft position?
  16. I don't see how anyone could have thought that to begin with. Can't have practically every supposed top notch prospect come up and just stink up the joint and then think it's all the fault of the ML coaching.
  17. I think we should just kick back and wait for the farm system, with the help of world class minor league development personnel, to make us competitive again. Shouldn't take long. Then when we are good, we can say, 'well, we don't need quality FAs or to trade for quality players cause we're already good'.
  18. I'm watching John Oliver, cause he's awesome, and he just got done saying that for the time period of Oct 7-13, 2016, Mrs. Clinton's unfavorable rating is at 55%, but Trump's is at 65%.
  19. So far, Westworld has been a disappointment for me. Going to give it one more shot with tonight's episode.
  20. Used to have a pastor who, during football season, set the masses he would do based on when the 49ers were playing. We had mass at 5:30 on Saturday, and then 8:30, 10:00 and 11:30 on Sunday and whenever the 49ers were playing, the associate pastor would do those masses.
  21. I'm rooting for the Cubs for similar reasons (though for me it's Twins and Rockies).
  22. Do I respect him enough to call him one of my heroes? No. Certainly someone can respect a person without saying they respect him enough to call him a hero and/or name family after him, right? I respect the office, and I respect the difficulties of the job itself, but I'm not sure he's done much to put him in the upper echelon of Presidents where I would call him a hero. I'm not sure he's done much to even improve the country. I'm not sure we're in a better place as a country now than before he took office.
  23. President Obama is one of your heroes? You have that much respect for him?
