  1. I like how Mark DeRosa is quoting the important stats when comparing players: BA, HR, RBI and doubles ;-)
  2. I hold that truth to be self-evident ;-)
  3. Baseball players are human beings, and just like the rest of the humans, there are some that do bad things. Of course, some also get accused of doing things they didn't do (or things they do get exaggerated and/or blown way out of proportion) because of who they are, which we non-famous people don't have to deal with.
  4. Not sure if that sets him up for game 6 or game 7?
  5. Where is West? BTW, He's the President of the Umpires. He's horrible, but that could be a reason why he gets so much playoff time.
  6. Francona is a GREAT manager. Top 3. I'm not sure I disagree with the move myself, though it's starting to look bad.
  7. Yes!!!!
  8. Because he gave up a duck fart and Schwarber was up next.
  9. Does horrible managing fall under bad luck? :-)
  10. -Fowler is a FA, they have plenty of OF including very young Almora. -Montero is 32, Contreras is very young. -Zobrist is 35, Baez is young. -Lester should be in talks for CY this year and only 32. Arrieta only 30. Hendricks, Hammels. Rizzo, Bryant, Russell, Schwarber. All young. Their team is embarrassingly loaded and extremely deep. Farm system is also loaded (players like Torres and Happ) and some players will traded from there. Team will be contenders for many years. Well built team by someone who knows how to build them.
  11. This Cubs team is set for years and years to come.
  12. Lester is going to miss Ross next year and the years after. Those two work great together.
  13. As a mid-market team, we're doomed, and we should just accept our doom.
  14. I, also, will never go on a cruise, but for different reasons.
  15. I'm definitely interested in finding out what the answer is :-) BTW, the monkeys in Wizard of Oz scared me a lot as a kid (especially when they all flew) and, to be honest, are still creepy to me now.
  16. I wouldn't answer the phone. Nope, not this guy.
  17. Santana had five starts in the playoffs and was great in four of them.
  18. Movies that scared me. Some of the classics. Exorcist and the Shining but the Exorcist the most. Slasher movies never scared me. Get the supernatural involved, yeah no...no thanks. Not watching.
  19. Ok, so true story. I rented The Ring. My girlfriend (now wife) and I finished watching it around midnight. My lady asked me if I wanted to watch the DVD extra, the actual thing the people in the movie were watching that would bring 'The Ring'. I was hesitant, but then said sure. As soon as it was over, my actual home phone rang. Not kidding. Exactly after we were done watching it.
  20. Manager is gone, GM is gone, and LaRussa was demoted to a non-decision making advisory role.
  21. I'd be happy with either winning, but I want the Cubs to win more.
  22. I gave up on Westworld
  23. Tonkin allowed 34.1% of inherited runs to score. Better than Pressly, May, Abad, Chargois and Dean.
  24. Yeah, I think we need to get a major league capable starting LF and let Rosario be the fourth OF.
  25. So, we are on yet another year of saying, 'Let's wait and see what we got'. At what point do we stop saying that cause it's two years in a row that has been said. We have the worst record this decade and we just had the worst record in baseball by like 10 games (or whatever it was). At this point, we cant see the light at the end of the tunnel and it's going to be a LONG time before we are true contenders, especially with the seemingly acceptable approach of wait and see. If wait and see is what we want to do, we might as well have kept Ryan.
