  1. IMO, Doziers 2016 is an outlier year. I doubt he can maintain a wRC+ in the 130s since it had never even been in the 120s before this past season. I think a lot of teams looking for a 1B or DH will look at his production with skeptic eyes.
  2. Wanna see something hilarious? During the pregame interview for game seven, a reporter jokingly asked Francona if he thought it was a must win game. Hilarious question and Francona"s reaction was priceless! If you get a chance, google it. Funny stuff
  3. yeah, i dont know who 'we' would be in that sentence, but whomver it is who thought that certainly now knows no one is perfect. Of course, one wonders if not for his managing all season and/or in the NLDS and NLCS, if they ever get to the World Series to begin with. A small sample size in a couple playoff games doesnt negate work done in 162 game season, for players or managers. I will go ahead and give him credit for them being able to win the World Series.
  4. i have partied in central american countries during carnival (mardi gras). 4 day parties that never slow down. I doubt i would see anything at a party in the states i hadnt seen before. Of course, i was in my 20s...
  5. Didn't remind me of Gardy at all, first and foremost because I was watching a World Series not the ALDS :-) Francona is a better in-game tactician than Maddon. The two best overall managers in the game squared off and Francona out-managed him; however, the better team won. Even if Cleveland was fully loaded, I'm glad the best team in baseball won. They both deserved to win, but it's good to see the best team in baseball get rewarded for that awesome season.. Ironically, now that the Cubs won the W Series after 108 years, the team with the longest W Series title drought is now Cleveland Indians.
  6. I would love to be in Chicago tonight. The parties are going to be awesome!
  7. My Dad and Grandma must be smiling from up above.
  8. 'Please don't overthrow it, please don't overthrow it' :-)
  9. Defense is the story of this game. Normally great defensive team, Cubs messing up, Cleveland playing solid defense (including game saving play by Lindor).
  10. The best managers in the world make stupid mistakes here and there. It's how often that separates the best from the rest.
  11. More than pause. At no time was I ever sold on him. We need to aim higher at shortstop (and a lot of positions, like going for a 3rd OF instead of a 4th OF since Rosario is a 4th OF talent).
  12. slide was fine, man on 1st
  13. hey look, it's raining. They expected rain at 11:15 P.M.
  14. counting chickens.
  15. absolutely my two favorites.
  16. yeah, well, Chicago fans travel well and Cleveland home attendance this year was 28th I don't feel bad that the Cubs fans have come and overrun the place :-)
  17. The Warriors don't have another team competing for revenue/market. They have it all to themselves. Sacramento is something like 2 hours away if traffic cooperates.
  18. yeah, I was born in Cali and grew up in the Bay Area, and I agree (as I'm sure you already figured out). plus there's tons of info out there confirming Oakland is a small market team (including two I've linked).
  19. Fluke stuff happened here. Weak hit, Ross error on that hit, wild pitch. Probably not good odds to bring him in with a runner on, but that's not why two scored. No hard hits at all. Veteran catcher should know better than to attempt that throw. For such a great defensive team, their defense stinks today.
  20. Old school announcers complaining about the real quick hook. Better Maddon waits till Hendricks gives up three runs before pulling him, I guess. Hendricks got over 4 innings done, good time to pull him especially when all arms are available (except for Arrieta, likely).
  21. I probably would have waited to the last minute to submit roster and started Lester. Then after one time through the Indian's lineup, pull him and Ross for Hendricks and Contreras. They would have started a more righty type lineup and then have to stick with it the last 7 or so innings as the righty comes in.
  22. Holland's FIP is like a half run lower than Santiago's Santiago has been helped by pitching in a a better park for pitchers. Holland has pitched in Ranger's park, an offensive haven. Not that I suggest having Holland, but he's probably a better pitcher than Santiago regardless of ERA.
  23. yeah, if absolutely perfect, it means 3, and then it means Miller goes 4 innings. He's never suggested Miller goes 4. But whatever, not worth continuing to argue about.
  24. except it doesn't really look like that is what happened. cause in his chat he did say he wanted Miller in as soon as possible, but as soon as possible couldn't be the third inning if you only want to use only Kluber, Miller, and Allen (and you figure it's very possible Fowler bats again in the 3rd). That would be 2-5-2. He wouldn't suggest using Miller for 5 innings. Suggesting he'd have Miller in as soon as possible would take into account he only wants to use him 3 innings with Allen going the last two. That means Kluber for 4, like he said in the chat.
  25. yeah, the quote I had said he wants Miller in their ASAP as well, but he only wants three pitchers used. Can't have Miller come in at the 3rd and have him go 5 innings to get to Allen for the last 2.
