  1. Try having a take they don't care for......
  2. I'd like to point out that in the year of our Lord 2024 a .242 batting average is no longer considered below average.
  3. Sometimes you admins are not terribly receptive to disagreement.
  4. Cautionary tale; I grew up in SE MN as a fan of the local professional hockey team. In those days there were about 35 games a year on Channel 9 and all games were on WCCO radio, both of which were easily accessible to most of out state Minnesota. In the late 80s that hockey team sold their radio rights to 1500-KSTP and television rights to Channel 29, neither of which were nearly accessible to much of the out state. But eventually it didn't matter cuz the problem was solved by having all games broadcast in the Dallas area.
  5. I am a Midco subscriber in the SE MN and just woke up with the same message on my Bally channel
  6. The fact that Willi Castro has started 13 straight games merely serves to invalidate any argument that validates the validity of Willi Castro starting 13 straight games. Translation: Don't use Willi Castro starting 13 straight games as any sort of positive argument.
  7. What part of that trade helps the Twins now could also have been applied to the Jose Berrios trade for two and a half years.
  8. One of my favorite memories is the KQRS Morning Show discussing the 1986 AL Rookie of the Year race between Wally Joyner and Jose Canseco and Tom Bernard in the background mumbling "Billy Beane, Billy Beane"
  9. I've been getting eviscerated on this site for two years for saying this very thing. But believe it to be a smart move for a number of reasons. Starters get paid. Duran would like to get paid. GUARANTEE that if he stays in the pen here he leaves as soon as be becomes eligible to become a free agent. Even if at that point he still leaves for reliever dollars he still leaves here because we screwed him out of the chance to get starter dollars. He only becomes a 5 inning starter if Baldelli lacks the stones to let him be a 7 inning starter. He has an arm like nobody else. That plays in the rotation as well as the pen. Make it happen. I'll wait for dozens of you to tell me I'm wrong. You'll all be wrong. I won't care. Don't waste your time.
  10. I think Margot was brought in to play CF on Buxton's down days. Part of the plan had to be a contingency in case those down days were EVERY day. Also, had Kepler not gone down there is a real chance that Martin would not yet be up and Margot would have gotten some run in CF. Funny how we as fans and pundits are all over moves that at the moment are not working out although even we admit they made sense at the time they were made. Some of them will still end up working out and some will not. Nobody knows for sure before the season or even now.
  11. I think he'll be fine. As long as that only straight pitches rule gets implemented.
  12. Old enough to remember when this guy was one of the reasons we let Eddie Rosario walk. Damn. I'm old.
  13. I know, right. I mean we're ALMOST 10 games into the season.
  14. After yesterday's outing, dreading or hoping for?
  15. National media overlooking Twins players who are NOT stars? Preposterous
  16. Cherry picking? Look up the number of all star appearances over the last 10 years by Twins 1st round picks. Stretch it out to 20 years. At least if you go back 25 you can pull Mauer into the discussion and make it interesting.
  17. We always all get hung up over what we think is going to happen and what the opening day roster is going to look like. But your point is spot on. Lots of things change because of injuries.
  18. I keep reading about what Kirilloff is good at and not good at. What he needs to become good at is staying on the field.
  19. And if he plays well and earns it it's totally reasonable that it does happen early in the 2024 season.
  20. Not arguing anything about Sano. Merely stating a fact. As far as Lee being ready or not, none of us gets to make that decision. As far as Farmer or Castro being on the roster because of their versatility, Lee can probably be considered able to play any position in the infield. And for that matter, at the start of last season, Castro had only 90 more games in the outfield than Lee has. If he's the best player, their versatility shouldn't work against him. He'd probably be as good defensively at 2B right now as Julien who could slide to first. Somebody's got to DH too.
  21. Sure. Drafting guys like Larnach, Covaco & Sabato and having them not pan out is a totally realistic expectation. Just because it's realistic doesn't make it acceptable. What I'm saying is that if Lee is better than guys like Castro & Farmer he should be on the roster. I'm not even saying that he is. I'm saying that IF he is one of the 26 best guys in camp he needs to come north. Not unrealistic at all. There is a reason why the Twins haven't had a guy finish higher than 6th in the Rookie of the Year voting since 2015. And it's not because we've been too busy winning the World Series. And just for fun, that guy who finished 3rd in 2015 has more home runs in the Cactus League than any Twin does in the Grapefruit League.
  22. He was also 21 when he was drafted and had 3 years of college ball under his belt. And sure, nobody is close to needing to be fired. UNLESS we're having this discussion 2 years from now and he's another Larnach. Did I mention Sabato? Should I even mention picking Covaco three picks before Corbin Carroll? At the end of the day if he's not coming north with the team and he's better than guys who are, that might need to be re-evaluated.
  23. If he's not, and soon, somebody should be getting fired.
  24. Actually it really is a question as to whether Lee is a better option than Castro and Farmer. That's why the discussion persists.
