  1. I find these meniscus tears and surgeries interesting, as a high school coach. I have seen a few kids go through these procedures. The one thing that I have witnessed first hand is the fact that every single athlete who has had his meniscus repaired, (which in my career has been 6 of them), every single one of them, 6 for 6, has within weeks of being able to return to competition has re-tore that same meniscus, it has been like clockwork, no athlete that I have had with the repair has made it through the next season without it re tearing. Now on the flip side I have dealt with 8 athletes who have had meniscus removal procedure done, 5 of them were in the first 6 who had the repair the first time, so there is some crossover. Of those athletes all of them were almost back to normal within a couple of weeks? So far in my experience, it doesn't seem like the repair method has done so well for those still competing. Now it is possible that because Castro has probably one of the best doctors because he is an MLB player and all that his might work out better. But it would seem in my limited experience that 6 for 6 meniscus failure is not a good ratio. Especially for a catcher squatting down all of the time. This procedure might be 90 to 100 percent effective for a guy or gal that works in an office and just has to walk around all day. But it seems that to me once the athlete starts to put the same stressors on the injured meniscus it tends to fail again. I just wanted a more professional opinion, mine is just a layman's opinion from what I have seen happen to my athletes. I am a wrestling coach, so there is a lot of twisting and pounding going on, but it would seem that a catcher would be dealing with a lot of that himself? I thank you in advance for any extra info on this type of situation.
  2. I was at the game. Escobar made as good of a play as he could. The Twins left 9 guys on base, so they had their chances to plate a couple of guys. Mauer came through nice in a pinch hitting situation. The Twins have been playing pretty well lately, it would be nice to see the whole squad together soon. Sano, Polanco, Santana added to the mix.
  3. I wonder if Kennys Vargas would be hitting .170 right now with 4 homers like Morrison??
  4. I honestly didn't know Lynn threw that hard.
  5. Twins starting pitching has seemed to be doing their job, with the exception of Lynn so far and obviously Hughes who appears to be out, but even when they aren't their best they have been seemingly able to hold the team in the games. The bullpen, different story. However, if the Twins bats wake up, and they can get Sano and Buxton back in the everyday lineup I think the twins can definitely come back and compete for something this year. As far as bunting goes, I feel it's a useful tool, but you have to have players that are good at it in order to use it. I mean a ban saw is also a very useful tool, but I wouldn't want someone trying to make **** with it if they never practice with it? You just end up losing some fingers. If I had Rod Carew on my team I would have him bunt into the MLB shifts every single at bat. But he obviously practiced bunting, a lot, and because of it, no team in their right mind would ever dare put a shift on him, which would open up the whole field for him again. The problem is that for the most part not many MLB players practice bunting enough to be able to effectively use that tool. Suicide squeeze plays are a rarity but if you put that play on you need to be 100 percent sure your guy can get that bunt down.
  6. Yeah, Im not completely in gripe mode, but it seems like the human element favors teams such as the Yankees and such. If the human element was just that all the way around and everyone got affected the same then I would be ok with it. But you know Clayton Kershaw gets borderline calls that someone like Berrios won't get. If it was all equal I'd say leave the human element in there, but it doesn't seem to be equal.
  7. About halfway through last year Pressly started pitching better. I mentioned last year that he has the stuff to close and that maybe he should be given a shot right after the traded away Kintzler. Right now I think Reed has the right stuff and has done it before too. Right now I'd try out Reed and move Pressly up to a set up position.
  8. Lamarre, the Twins version of Ohtani
  9. Maybe you're right, but even if you weren't, the Twins couldn't use those two in Loogy spots right now anyway. That was my point, hard to have a lefty specialist only when you need the bull pen to pitch 6 innings.
  10. I think it's hard to use a pitcher as a Loogy only when the starters are only going 3 and 4 innings. If the Twins starters start to average 6.1 to 6.2 innimgs kinda like that first week of the season then the Loogy comes into play because there won't be enough bullpen innings to go around at that point in time. So the starters need to last longer and then I think Molitor might use Duke and or Rogers as Loogys
  11. At least he didn't walk anyone?
  12. Dang I miss the days we could bring in Gimenez.
  13. Man Im wishing they could bring pressly back in.
  14. Kepler has done ok against leftys so far this year.
  15. The first inning of Phil Hughes was hard to watch.
  16. The sky is falling! The sky is falling! The sky is falling! Oh crap, it's Sanowing
  17. So if Berrios throws 4 balls in the dirt he should swing? I mean they had no chance of winning right? Wouldn't taking a walk have about the same feeling? If I am Cisco and I have that opportunity 20 games in a row I bunt every time to get my self on base, after awhile, you'll find that teams will quit employing a shift on you. What do you think Rod Carew would do in that situation??
  18. Offer him the qualifying offer and then after he rejects it offer him a 3 year big money deal and then let him troll for better offers. If he gets better offers they can either counter them or bid him farewell and move on to Gordon? If he doesn't get better offers then keep the deal on the table and bring him back. Simple,
  19. Well they are on Pace for 378 solo shots?
