  1. Kepler has like a 16.6 K rate which is pretty good, he puts the ball in play as he doesn't strike out much, he also has an 11.2 percent walk rate so he has good plate discipline, and he has a good fly ball rate too, it would seem to me that all of those things would point to fairly big things to come so it seems weird to me that his average is only like .225? Maybe unlucky?? Anyway, I'd love to see him break out a la Rosario next year.
  2. Hildy just isn't a closer type of pitcher. I think he's a great change of pace type of pitcher that can come in in the 7th and fool some guys, but that doesn't seem to be working in the 9th??
  3. Clicking on some of those other names like BJ Hermson was kind of interesting?
  4. Maybe they can move Sano to short and Kennys at 3rd?? Then polonco can go to his more natural position over at 2nd
  5. Are those minor league stats for Kenny's?
  6. Yes, it would allow for the Twins to pinch run for their catchers late in games.
  7. I personally do not like the concept and I agree it is used by bad teams as good teams seem to have enough starting pitching to be successful. However, I like this point about not needing as many bullpen arms etc... It made me think about guys like Tommy Milone, guys like him that seemed to be able to shut people down for short stretches of games, now this opener idea might seem more appealing, where a guy like Milone goes 3 innings and then a guy like Mejia comes in and throws 4 or 5 innings and now you're in the last inning or two of the game?? Many of those AAAA starters could be effective for 2 - 3 innings??
  8. If he was great for the Twins why'd they get rid of him? Also I think it had more to do with Dougie baseball than LeCroy? Nonetheless both Ortiz and Dougie Baseball won the World Series for the Bosox. I think both of them kinda stuck their noses up at the Twins and went neener, neener, neener when they got those rings too. I'm kinda getting on board that I'd love to see Mauer go to one of those teams in a part time 120 game roll and win a World Series for himself while all of us Twins fans sit around wondering which minor leaguers are going to take over for the Twins in 2020.
  9. David Ortiz wasn't good enough for the Twins?? Prob more along the lines of what each team needs. The Twins need a guy they can pencil into their lineup everyday which it appears as if Mauer isn't that guy anymore. Boston or another team could be deep enough to use a guy like Mauer for 120 games a year and get real value out of those 120 games?
  10. Could you imagine Mauer in Boston's or New York's or Houston's lineups?? He'd score 90 - 100 runs in those lineups easy.
  11. It's perspective, a lot of Reds fans are constantly infuriated because Joey Votto takes so many walks?
  12. So when the first 3 guys get out Grossman is then the leadoff hitter in the 2nd inning?
  13. I wonder if they have room on the squad for Buxton now?
  14. Pressly sure looked good. Stupid trade, still had a year left with him.
  15. It's an extra year of control, but, he has also hit .156 for the twins this year. What if he came up in Sept and raked and was able to get his average up to .200 - .220 or so, how would that affect his arbitration case? When he does go into arbitration the team can say he hit .156 in 2018, of he had improved on that then they wouldn't be able to say that anymore?
  16. The 2019 Minnesota Twins, we won it all 28 years ago.
  17. Well he had MVP votes last year, so that puts him in some sort of an elite company. I don't think he's going to do well here, same as with Hicks, for Buxton to realize his true potential, for whatever reason it may be, I think he will need to be on another team to do it. I think if Hicks had stayed in Minnesota he would have been out of the league by now. Why it's like this I have no clue. I'm starting to feel the same about Sano too. I mean it could be something as simple as those guys are not leaders and they need to be on a team that has some leaders so they are not the primary focus or something. But whatever it is, they look to continue down this road of failure until they land somewhere else.
  18. Berrios has had a dip in velocity. He used to be 94 - 96 and now he's 91 - 92. Poor strike ratio,a good number of walks and a ton of home runs. He's looking more like Gibson the past few years.
  19. I think the central could be tougher next year. I believe the White Sox just swept the Yankees??9
  20. I have the feeling that the Twins are going to go easy into the night. I don't think they have much grit on this team.
  21. And the example that was being used, Tommy Milone, look at his stats in the minors. He looked un-hittable down there.
  22. Also, if the Twins were on a pace to win 90, that those wins would have come at someone else's expense
  23. Dang, I was going to say the same thing!
  24. Escobar and Dozier were fan favorites, I almost expected that from Lynn, I mean he wasn't too terrible after the first month and half for the twins either. But I totally feel that the Pressly trade was the worst trade the Twins made this off-season. I fully believe if they still had him he'd be the closer right now. I feel that the place where the twins need to upgrade the most is in the bullpen so they can turn games into 5 or 6 inning games. The best teams out there are able to do that.
