  1. I looked at the WAR on baseball reference. It's just such a weird statistic. Like back when Aaron Judge had a higher WAR than Ohtani and Ohtani was pitching and hitting. Like that season Ohtani was hitting well and pitching fantastic, I mean how do you even find a replacement for that. His WAR that season almost should have been infinity cause there isn't any replacement for that. Anyway, the fangraphs WAR may be better, but again, why the difference? OPS on fangraphs is the same as OPS on baseball reference. Just seems a little weird to me? Thanks though as a 1.6 would make more sense.
  2. Rod Carew was also a 1st baseman? But he was in lineups with other guys that had pop.
  3. WAR is interesting to me. Arraez produced a 3.2 WAR in 21 with a .294 average, 17 doubles 6 triples and 2 home runs with 42 RBI 58 runs and like 125 hits or something like that. This season he has produced a 0.8 WAR and is hitting .284 with 149 hits, 29 doubles, 4 triples and 6 homeruns. 49 RBI and 55 runs scored. 121 games vs 130 games. I don't understand how these two numbers can be so much different?? Even 9 stolen bases this year vs 2 stolen bases in 21? Almost everything is better this season except for the average?? Also besides this point, I don't think Luis Arraez would resign with the Twins. I mean maybe if he was 38 and just wanted to play another season before retirement. But he has been involved in pennant races the last two seasons and in no way will the Twins be competitive any time soon. Maybe 2 - 3 seasons from now? Carlos Santana would probably come back though?? Arraez doesn't really fit the Twins lineup, sure if he hit .320 he would lengthen the lineup, but for who? I mean if he was in a lineup with Judge or ohtani or something like that and hit .320 in that lineup and caused Judge to get some extra at bats then he'd probably be a good fit. But causing Larnach or Jeffers to get a couple extra at bats doesn't really do anything for the Twins.
  4. This past weekend wouldn't suggest so. But I guess the big thing is if the White Sox have a run next season and put themselves into playoff position, would their ownership pay the money to get them into the playoffs? Because we know the Twins ownership wont

Keep battling! I will be sending prayers your way. 🙏 🙏 🙏
  6. With the same ownership and front office the Twins realistically could switch places with the White Sox next season.
  7. Brent Rooker? .272 batting average 226 runs 95 hrs 255 rbis .865 ops All since 2023
  8. David Justice on the plane in Moneyball, "Why is soda a dollar in the clubhouse"? "Billy likes to keep the money on the field". "Soda money? Where is my soda money at on the field"? "It's hard to see, but it's there". "Really? Soda money". David Justice puts his headphones back on.
  9. My daughter attended the Minnesota Twins baseball camp in Stillwater the week that the trades all happened. We went to the Tuesday night game against the Red Sox. After the game was over she waited around to see if she could get a baseball or something. We were late to the game so she couldn't do any of that beforehand. Anyway, Louie Varland came out of the clubhouse and signed autographs for the 10 - 11 kids standing around after the game. I was shocked since he had actually pitched in the game. I just figured most of those guys would shower up and get the heck out, especially after a loss like that. My daughter's travel ball team has played in Cooperstown the week before and pin trading is a big thing for the kids there. She had some of her pins still on her. When he signed her hat she gave him one of her Cooperstown pins. He said excitedly, "this is for me??". She said yeah. Then he said "Cool!". Then went in to the next kid. Just shows the human side of these guys in a cutthroat business. Pierson Ohl also signed her hat, it was his first ever start that night and his whole family was out there so it didn't surprise me to see him out there after the game. But yeah Varland genuinely was a nice dude to the kids.
  10. I remember when Grateral and Duran were coming up through the minors that there was always a lot of talk about their "special" velocity. Hovering around 102 - 103 all of the time. I know all guys now throw hard but is there anyone coming up, even in high A or AA that has that little bit of extra Velo??
  11. I read an article probably 3 days ago or so that said once Correa told Jax about what he was told about the direction that the team is going on is when he asked to be traded. So I'd guess that's when they started making the big calls, I'm sure Falvey was testing the waters with all of the players, but I'm guessing once Jax requested the trade is when it got serious.
  12. That's too bad, I was hoping he'd get some velo back, 93 - 94. Oh well, he's just going to have to figure out how to get hitters off balance and get some ground balls.
  13. I'm just spitballing here. It's only a guess. But my guess is that SS has a lot of ground to cover, play after play after play for 162 games. 3B not as much ground to cover, granted there have been some fantastic fielding 3rd basemen in the past, a la Brooks Robinson, etc...... But there have been some mediocre ones also just to get their bat in the lineup. I'd say Correa would have been better than mediocre but no Arrenado. With less field coverage his feet and such probably would feel much better after the games each day? I'm thinking Correa still thought he was one of the best SS, but knew he couldn't keep it up all season and the nagging injuries to his feet made him a lesser fielder, but more importantly made him more uncomfortable to play every day. Again this all just my opinion.
  14. Could you imagine Correa all of the sudden going off at the plate when Houston puts him at 3B? I think they left Correa at SS because they didn't trust Brooks Lee? Knowing this with hindsight. Lewis should have gone to 2B, Correa to 3rd and Lee to SS. But that would have also caused problems at the beginning of the year when Julien and Miranda was in their plans. Looking at what they have now it looks like what the hell were they thinking. This is Falvey playing fantasy baseball with the lineup and not doing what's actually best. Crazy, Correa has been asking to go to 3rd???
  15. What did Ober's velo look like? Did it look like what had ailed him is better?
  16. It's possible that Rocco doesn't have the only say in making the lineup? Maybe the lineup comes from the Brass?
  17. https://nypost.com/2025/07/31/sports/twins-morale-at-an-ugly-low-after-trade-deadline/ It's not just the fans that are upset.
  18. Fitzgerald Ramirez Urena Aren't those guys close to retirement? I wish they would have brought up more younger guys to try out?
  19. Ok, Correa in a vacuum might do that. But how does trading Varland, a guy who is cheap and has 5 more years of control fix the house? I mean all of this took place together not in separate situations. I'm thinking whoever was offering to buy the Twins are gone. Now the Pohlads know they won't be selling so they are going to go all Florida Marlins on us. I'm thinking the potential buyers are gone and the Pohlads said we want payroll down to 80 mil or some stupid number. I mean this could be the case?
  20. But they probably care somewhat about how the business performs. If the business is struggling to get people to come to their business they will probably offer less than if a business is constantly full of people and interest. I mean these things can affect what someone will offer for the team. I remember having an argument last year when it came out that the Pohlads were trying to sell the team. I said this could take awhile, especially if the Pohlads are looking for some specific number that they have to have in order to sell. It was at the time when the Twins said they were lowering payroll. I said prospective buyers want a healthy product that they are buying if they are going to pay a premium. If you have a product that is unhealthy or needs work then you probably have to sell at a discount. I don't remember who it was, but they said the Twins would be sold within a couple of months if you look at the other teams that have gone up for sale. I said those other teams either sold at a discount or they were already a good team. He argued and argued with me, and eventually I just said yep your right and here the Twins are a year later still not sold. So we can continue to trade jobs with analogies, but my take is if the product isn't very good, then the price must go down. If they are trying to keep the price up, Kelly Blue book price, (cars) then the vehicle must be performing well. That's not the case here.
  21. The original statement was, if I was interested in buying the Twins for like a billion dollars or whatever they are being sold for. After yesterday, I'm not sure I'm still interested in buying the Twins anymore. Your analogy works in the fact that last week I might have been interested in buying the Twins but not now after you burned them to the ground. I mean as a prospective owner, I need faces for advertising, I need to be able to put people in the seats to make my investment profitable. Right now if I buy the team, I no longer have one of the faces of the franchise but I have to cut him a check for 33 million still. Your looking at Correa as the house, I'm looking at Correa as one of the parts of the house. Again, had the Twins received something for him as far as a half assed decent prospect I'd be much better with it. But they essentially got no one. Also the Twins really don't have a replacement for him at the major league level.
  22. Maybe Falvey can find someone to take Buxton off of their hands for half of his contract?? Then the Twins would only owe half of Buxton's salary?
  23. I mean, but they still owe 33 million dollars on that contract and they don't have anything for it. So now they are paying Correa 33 million dollars to play for Houston. Plus the Twins got nobody in return? So you're looking to buy a house for 1 million dollars. Yard is 100% artificial turf. But it comes with a 100,000 dollar bill for solar panels which you must pay 33 thousand dollars per year for the next 3 years. You balk at the solar panel thing. So the owner trades the solar panels to another home owner for his Gardner. The other home owner gets the 100,000 solar panels for 66,000 minus his Gardner. Now you are re offered the house for 1 million dollars. They tell you that you now only owe 33 thousand for the solar panels and now you have a Gardner. You're like, my yard is artificial turf? That's ok, you can cut the Gardner but now you are out from underneath that solar panel contract? I don't know if that sounds a lot better to me? Now had they actually got someone for Correa, like a AA or AAA SS or pitching prospect then I'd be more on board with this. But right now the Twins are paying 33 million dollars so that Houston can better. I mean this just looks stupid. Now I could also see making this move if they had Fransisco Lindor sitting behind him and he's being blocked by Correa, but the Twins don't have that problem either. So looks really weird to me. Falvey's next job might be in Houston?
