  1. Still might happen at some point in time?
  2. I had a flashback to Homer Bailey for a second.
  3. In spring training many players had to change their heights so as that the ABS system would register the correct strike zone for them.
  4. I don't think player agents allow managers to call bunts anymore(sarcasm). It affects the amount of HRs they can hit. So I'd bet Clemons called that bunt himself, I'm sure Castro did as well. They players probably all talked about it, because they see the 3B playing back too far?
  5. I kind of like the challenge idea. Then you can pick and choose when to use it.
  6. Nice bunt. Looks like a line drive in the box score!
  7. After reading your response I started thinking also. I read the Yankees averaged 3 hours per game in 88. Then I thought to myself, hey both leagues added the DH like 5 - 6 years ago. I wonder what game time differences were between the American League and the National League before the National League got the DH? Very interesting the increase in time between 1945 and 1960. Biggest increase over a time period ever. So looks like from what you've observed is the Royals winning the world series in the way that they did was probably the undoing of quick paced games. Maybe teams should lose the DH when they pull their starter out? Might keep pitchers in another inning or two?
  8. I've wondered, what was going on in the 70's and 80's that kept game times down? I mean they didn't add a runner to 2nd in extra innings either. Don't get me wrong, once in awhile a game got really long, but by looking at the averages they were moving along? I mean could TV itself have slowed the game down with advertising and such, were the Umps just tougher on the players? IDK, I'm just throwing ideas out there since at one point in time the game moved along, why they weren't able to keep that pace is what I'm trying to figure out.
  9. Exactly, but you just made my point. If Gaspar or anyone for that matter can have an amazing week or two before the chariot turns back into a pumpkin then that is a lot better than watching Lewis go another 0 - 30. Who cares if he's 29? It's not like they would be pulling up their next All Star candidate, they would be pulling up a stop gap for the time being.
  10. I'm just curious, how did sending Sano down to Ft. Meyers work out in the long run? Obviously something is wrong with Lewis, and he needs to go down and get at bats and some confidence. I'd hope St. Paul would be the best.
  11. Kody Clemons comes to mind. I believe he's 29? I'm not a Gaspar fan, but, if he's hot he might have enough confidence to come up and hit .250 for a limited amount of time while Lewis finds himself. He won't be an all star, but will probably do better than hitting a buck 0 five
  12. Understand that when you trade from a position of strength. That strength becomes less strong. The Twins success can probably be mostly attributed to this position of strength. So if the Twins make their strong points weaker so now they are not strong but average. If they somehow pry away some decent bat from some other team. Which would make their weak point also average. Now you would have all facets of your game as average. Probably not a playoff team? JMO. But if they ride their strength? They might be able to get this squad into the playoffs. Let's be realistic, most of the problems with the Twins were created with no movement during the off season. So they have some strength, I say ride that until the trade deadline and see where they are at then?
  13. I think when you have a team and a clubhouse that is currently winning, you don't break pieces off hoping that you'll still have a quality clubhouse and hoping that you continue to win. I mean had the Twins continued down the path that they were on in their first couple of weeks then no one cares about the clubhouse or keeping the guys together. I know everyone else looks at these things like fantasy managers and with trade values and analytics. But not so much different than not changing your socks or whatever while you are on a hitting streak I don't think you mess with the pitching success of the rotation while the Twins are in playoff contention. As the weeks go forward these things can change. I mean a guy who hits .450 one month and then hits .150 the next might as well change his socks while in a slump. But you just don't mess with winning. If they are winning you keep doing what's winning. Not saying that you are wrong about Paddock's value and all. I just don't think you treat this like a fantasy team and make trades while things are going well. JMO
  14. He sure seems to need to work on some stuff? A lot of talk about being unlucky, sounds like Max Kepler. Maybe the
  15. So running hard is now risking significant injury? I mean he should probably stay on the IL a little while longer then. I mean I get he can possibly hit .275 with some power, but he's hitting a dollar seventy five. Sometimes I think if a player starts to hold back, they will also struggle with normal stuff too, because they are not letting their body just do things. They are thinking too much, about holding back. I just think he has to play the game they way he has always played it, if he is still too injured to do so, then stay on the IL a little longer until he is 100%.
  16. Thanks for the info. Maybe I'm getting old and senile, but it hasn't always been like this, right? They used to have pre game before all of the game regardless of home or away. Or am I imagining things? Again thanks, I will quit looking for the pre game on away games.
  17. Is there a reason why I can't watch the Twins pre-game? I have to watch the brewers pre game? Is that because of the new TV situation and all of that stuff?
  18. Now his on base percentage is .341, highest of his career. And his OPS is .796. his stats will go down and then they'll go back up again and so on. He will have an ok season in Philly.
  19. Divisions can't be won in April but they probably can be lost. I don't think getting rid of the manager is going to do much. I feel like when it's time for a change it's Falvey that'll need to go, or he will just replace Rocco with another Rocco. Someone who does everything he tells him to do. A lot of today's game is controlled be the GM's it seems like a lot of managers don't have complete control of their lineups and whatnot. So if the Twins stay stagnant, that probably means that Falvey assembled a flawed team. Which in turn would mean Falvey would need to go along with a new manager, etc..... hopefully a new ownership group too?
  20. I know people are bringing up money paid to said relievers and what not. But I think the biggest argument is the fact that a team is really carrying extra pitchers on their roster. So instead of having a 13 man pitching staff you really have a 14 or 15 man pitching staff because you can continuously DFA guys and bring other players up. Maybe they just need to say these are our 13 pitchers for the week. Then at the end of the week they can manipulate the roster with minor league guys and DFA a couple of guys or option them if they have options. Then at least they have to have 13 dudes they can trust for the week?
  21. I think that is every MLB players hope after they get DFA'd. The thing with Dobber is that he gets paid no matter what. He did his job, I think he probably can't throw again for about 4 days so I'm assuming the Twinkies are bringing in someone who can so as to not be short in the bullpen. JMO
  22. Probably leads the Twins in innings pitched right now? Did his job and now will wait around until needed again.
  23. I remember watching Popeye and the Rocky and Bullwinkle show on KMSP when I was a little kid!! 🤣
  24. We need to be saying our nightly prayers that Buck doesn't get seriously injured at all this year. 140 - 150 games out of Buck and the Twins are probably sitting at the top of the division at the end of the season!
