  1. What did Ober's velo look like? Did it look like what had ailed him is better?
  2. It's possible that Rocco doesn't have the only say in making the lineup? Maybe the lineup comes from the Brass?
  3. https://nypost.com/2025/07/31/sports/twins-morale-at-an-ugly-low-after-trade-deadline/ It's not just the fans that are upset.
  4. Fitzgerald Ramirez Urena Aren't those guys close to retirement? I wish they would have brought up more younger guys to try out?
  5. Ok, Correa in a vacuum might do that. But how does trading Varland, a guy who is cheap and has 5 more years of control fix the house? I mean all of this took place together not in separate situations. I'm thinking whoever was offering to buy the Twins are gone. Now the Pohlads know they won't be selling so they are going to go all Florida Marlins on us. I'm thinking the potential buyers are gone and the Pohlads said we want payroll down to 80 mil or some stupid number. I mean this could be the case?
  6. But they probably care somewhat about how the business performs. If the business is struggling to get people to come to their business they will probably offer less than if a business is constantly full of people and interest. I mean these things can affect what someone will offer for the team. I remember having an argument last year when it came out that the Pohlads were trying to sell the team. I said this could take awhile, especially if the Pohlads are looking for some specific number that they have to have in order to sell. It was at the time when the Twins said they were lowering payroll. I said prospective buyers want a healthy product that they are buying if they are going to pay a premium. If you have a product that is unhealthy or needs work then you probably have to sell at a discount. I don't remember who it was, but they said the Twins would be sold within a couple of months if you look at the other teams that have gone up for sale. I said those other teams either sold at a discount or they were already a good team. He argued and argued with me, and eventually I just said yep your right and here the Twins are a year later still not sold. So we can continue to trade jobs with analogies, but my take is if the product isn't very good, then the price must go down. If they are trying to keep the price up, Kelly Blue book price, (cars) then the vehicle must be performing well. That's not the case here.
  7. The original statement was, if I was interested in buying the Twins for like a billion dollars or whatever they are being sold for. After yesterday, I'm not sure I'm still interested in buying the Twins anymore. Your analogy works in the fact that last week I might have been interested in buying the Twins but not now after you burned them to the ground. I mean as a prospective owner, I need faces for advertising, I need to be able to put people in the seats to make my investment profitable. Right now if I buy the team, I no longer have one of the faces of the franchise but I have to cut him a check for 33 million still. Your looking at Correa as the house, I'm looking at Correa as one of the parts of the house. Again, had the Twins received something for him as far as a half assed decent prospect I'd be much better with it. But they essentially got no one. Also the Twins really don't have a replacement for him at the major league level.
  8. Maybe Falvey can find someone to take Buxton off of their hands for half of his contract?? Then the Twins would only owe half of Buxton's salary?
  9. I mean, but they still owe 33 million dollars on that contract and they don't have anything for it. So now they are paying Correa 33 million dollars to play for Houston. Plus the Twins got nobody in return? So you're looking to buy a house for 1 million dollars. Yard is 100% artificial turf. But it comes with a 100,000 dollar bill for solar panels which you must pay 33 thousand dollars per year for the next 3 years. You balk at the solar panel thing. So the owner trades the solar panels to another home owner for his Gardner. The other home owner gets the 100,000 solar panels for 66,000 minus his Gardner. Now you are re offered the house for 1 million dollars. They tell you that you now only owe 33 thousand for the solar panels and now you have a Gardner. You're like, my yard is artificial turf? That's ok, you can cut the Gardner but now you are out from underneath that solar panel contract? I don't know if that sounds a lot better to me? Now had they actually got someone for Correa, like a AA or AAA SS or pitching prospect then I'd be more on board with this. But right now the Twins are paying 33 million dollars so that Houston can better. I mean this just looks stupid. Now I could also see making this move if they had Fransisco Lindor sitting behind him and he's being blocked by Correa, but the Twins don't have that problem either. So looks really weird to me. Falvey's next job might be in Houston?
  10. If I were in the market to buy an MLB team I'm not sure I'd want this one anymore??
  11. They might want to consider selling too, now that the Twins don't have a team anymore?
  12. Well the Saints are in Toledo
  13. I wonder what the Twins could get for Rocco? Could they get an actual lottery ticket for him. For that matter I wonder what kind of prospect capital Falvey would be worth. I think it would be great for Falvey to get a fresh start in a new different organization? Maybe back to Cleveland? The Royals could use his expertise?? Just a couple of thoughts. Ha ha
  14. Maybe Roger can work with Kody a little bit and he can move into the bullpen?? Ha ha
  15. If the Pohlads sold more quickly they wouldn't owe any of the salaries any more.
  16. Shoot, the Padres could have had Duran for a lot cheaper apparently?
  17. I'm hoping that the Twins can get the expiring contracts moved today since they aren't going to do anything this season anyway. I'd seriously question the Twins motives moving forward if they trade Ryan. At that point they might as well trade Pablo and Ober too because it will take 3 seasons to become relevant again if they break up their starting rotation. But hopefully they can get rid of the expiring contracts.
  18. It's not the team control that necessarily makes them more valuable now. It's that certain teams like the Dodgers (Scott) and Phillies (Romero and the guy who got suspended for PED's) leave the back end of their bullpens a little bit in flux right now. Imagine Duran going to the Dodgers what that would do for their WS run this year? He's worth more because of that right now I believe. Once the off-season comes around those teams won't have big holes in their bullpens as they will have addressed them with free agency, injuries healing, etc.... But I never thought about Flavey being a lame duck administrator, which he could be if the Twins get new owners. That really does change things a little bit when you are talking about trading guys who could be around for the next 2 to 3 seasons. The guys who have contracts that are expiring well might as well trade those guys for something? I was all in on trading Duran and Jax, but now I'm leaning towards keeping them because of the possible Lame Duck status of Falvey?
  19. I see all of the talk about Jeffers and Ryan. Seems to me that if they trade those two next season is also up in the air, because you are hoping that you can get a starting catcher to replace what Jeffers does and you are hoping that you can find or develop an ace for your staff, now we know the Twins will never buy an ace type of starting pitcher so you are hoping and praying that zebby or someone else in the system becomes that guy. Now on the other hand, they Twins have proven over and over again that they can develop and find bullpen guys to be legit lockdown dudes. So if they trade Duran and Jax yes that hurts the team this season, but with health and development the team could come back much stronger next season. But if you trade Ryan and Jeffers there is a possibility that they don't come back strong for 2 or 3 seasons and now we are talking about guys like Buxton not being helpful at an advanced age. So I think as long as the Twins have guys like Buck, Correa, Lewis as their core, I think they need to keep Ryan, Pablo, and Bailey as their top of the rotation and try to get everyone healthy. They can trade Duran and Jax and still figure out a way to build a strong bullpen. But trade Ryan and they are praying that someone on the current staff not named Pablo or Bailey, (because they were supposed to lock down two spots anyway regardless or what Ryan has done) can repeat what Ryan has done. To me that is a long shot. I don't think it's as long of a shot to build a bullpen around a strong staff of Pablo, Ryan, Bailey, SWR, Zebby, etc...... Also looking for a starting catcher equal to Jeffers is also a stretch. So just in my opinion, trade Duran, Jax, Columbie, Castro, Bader, France all of the support players along with the big ticket relief guys. But keep the core of Pablo, Ober, Ryan, Buck, Correa, Jeffers, Lewis as a group to build a team around next season. Again JMO
  20. I don't follow the other teams systems. So I don't have any specific trade targets. I just know the Phillies have had some issues with their bullpen and Jax would solve some of those. So maybe they can pry away a couple of good prospects from them?
  21. After watching Tanner Scott, I think the Twins could get the Dodgers to overpay for Duran. Especially if they shop Duran to the Padres too. I think the Phillies would give something decent for Jax.
