  1. There's an old saying in sports, "It's a shame someone had to lose". Watching the Twins and Angels play you could simply change the word 'lose' to 'win'!
  2. . That was not MY stance, it was my wife's! .
  3. Mothers Day: A day when dad takes the kids so mom can have some quality time alone. Fathers Day: A day when dad takes the kids, so he can spend some quality time with his children.
  4. I think it fair to say that Gomez Addams wife distracted more men than Gomez. Little know fact. Gomez Addams is the father of Carlos Gomez. Carlos developed his baseball abilities at a young age playing catch with Thing and his hair from Cousin It!
  5. I am really not sure why he is here. It's been very obvious he isn't in their plans, and hasn't been since Molitor took over. It's a wasted roster spot, and short of anyone else coming up with a viable rationale it could be as simple as Ryan doesn't want to see Ortiz 2. That seems silly, but the Twins rarely PH or platoon. He isn't a defensive replacement, and the investment in money and pride in Park preclude Arcia DH'ing. If they aren't going to send Park down after these past 2 1/2 months, they ain't gonna send him down. Arcia seems like a good teammate, I hope he ends up somewhere and gets a chance, and does well.
  6. Not to be toooooo snarky, but striking out Dozier and Park is on quite a few pitchers resumes already.
  7. If there are two toolsy HS OF it wont make a difference, we will still get our man.
  8. I had a '92 wing, it was like driving a Greyhound Bus. Dumped it in a parking lot in Asheville. A couple pulled up in a pickup, jumped out and on the finest NC twang absolutely insisted they would take us to the hospital. It took some talking to convince her we were not mortally injured, but laud love some help picking that pig up! That thing was the damndest bike I ever owned.

  10. If we are going to start interjecting science into GT, then I am going to switch to sites where science, and intelligence are ignored completely, if not treated with outright disdain. My first stop would likely be any political website, I think most would meet that criteria nicely!
  11. A doctor .friend of mine had a sporty Bently. He brought it too a wedding in Hutchinson, and we took it out on a county road. I quit at 125, not because I was afraid, you couldn't even feel the speed. I started thinking of the ticket. Months later he got nailed on 494 over 130 and they impounded the car and suspended his license. Ugh!l
  12. True story. One late September Sunday morning at 10 am stopped on the bikes at Dels Bar in downtown LaCrosse. What attracted us might have been the guy that drove his Sporster in the front door as we drove by. Nothing ventured nothing gained. Ran into a bunch of Iowegians who were partying at Oct Fest, which was news to us, since it wasn't Oct. when I confronted a young woman about this discrepancy, and the fact that the Vaunted Germans in New Ulm did Oct Fest in October, she first informed me that Oct Fest is to prepare and celebrate the COMING of Oct, and that MN Germans were some of the more ignorant Germans around. I pondered that awhile, and decided it was much too early in the day to argue the subjective intelligence of Iowa v MN Germans, especially since I was distracted by a couple of the more comely Iowans trying on free Dels t-shirts in the middle of the bar. Oddly the free T-shirt offer was only extended to them? But since no one else seemed upset by it, I let well enough alone!
  13. I agree with Doc about the FO. Sure, I would like the Pohlads to sell the team to some rich baseball fanatic, Ryan to receive his Gold Watch, and Molitor to a happy retirement. All this week. But as they say, Reality Bites. The best that can be hoped for is that the result of this season is that Ryan sees a little light, not 'the light', but just a little. And if that is to pass, it's not going to be evident until at least Aug 1st. Pennant chases will have to evolve, injuries and non performance will occur, and the ticking clock on seasons will have to get louder for some teams. (Ours is in sand dial mode) What Ryan does between now and midnight July 31 will set the tenor for this franchise for the next 6 years. It's going to take those 50 days to see if any good can come of this? Do I think a move to a real roster reconstruct will occur? No! Do I think Ryan will suddenly change his stripes, and become reactive and imaginative? No! Is there an alternative? No! I hate being wrong, but in this case I would welcome it.
  14. To give you a mindset of my family, we often play this at Thanksgiving. Btw, I wonder what the Twins would look like il Les was running them.
  15. Abaracadabra implies something mystical. This is at the point of mythical! Like the Hindenburg, Titanic, and BlockBuster.
  16. It's kind of sad actually. Obviously I still watch and care. But there is not even any angst anymore. It's repetive and numbing. There is no reason to check the standings, unless morbid curiousity drives you to the NL Cellar Dweller. The players don't seem to care, Molitor looks confused, and Ryan still looks stern. Jim Pohlad has had two interviews, and can't even script righteous indignation! UGH
  17. I don't think it's a meaningless stat at all. Some guys are simply better at staying themselves under pressure. The worst aren't in MLB, the best are the ones you don't want to face with men on base. It's not perfect at all, but over time can be indicative.
  18. It has went the way of the Dinasaur and Brian's car!
  19. Bert said the location of the curveball and consistency was a problem, and the location of the FB. (Other than that there are no problems)
  20. But sadly it was inevitable. Almost every position decision was made on ANTICIPATED offense. So we ended up with no offense, no defense, and no pitching.
