  1. This is truly a battle of Epic Proportions. ( I really don't think so, I just love the term) If this was the Red Sox, and Yankees ESPN would be all over it! They would drag out the cliche encyclopedia and rain down superlatives on our heads..... Someone might even intone, 'And we'll (sadly) see you tomorrow night'. But alas, it's the lowly Twins and Braves, leaving only rural America to care, or more likely not care!
  2. If JP is an "active" owner, it's one of two things. Either it's something that was never evident in the last, or it's something one would wish was not evident in the future. And yes, it's his perogative to be an active owner. But if he is going to hire a new GM and tell him Molitor is untouchable, that eliminates any idea of cohesion between the FO and field staff right out of the chute!
  3. This has likely been said in six different ways already, but why didn't they just leave Albers as #26. Then just send him back? And deal with Buddy as a separate issue? Maybe I am being too simplistic, or else am missing the sequencing. Btw, I do wish you had titled it "Techinical Explanation of 26th Man Optional/Recall/DFA Requirements After Aug. 1st". Then I wouldn't be confused about something that interests no one outside the USA! (And remote parts of Canada)
  4. "Even some comments, to paraphrase, that came out of Molitor talk about Nunez NOT being a regular player, or would play rookies but the team still wants to win (sheesh!). " This has been a major aggravation of mine, playing these games to win vs a learning and evaluations experience. Others are playing for one run early in a game, with this pitching staff, and seemingly valuing offense over defense, regardless of the position. That said, no matter ones take on Molitor, unless the new GM is completely sold on him, he needs to go. The Twins need everyone to be on the same page, which is hard to do with a manger that is not your choice, on a one year contract, and ownership protection. A recipe for disaster.
  5. No one who has over 15K 's worth of post should ever use the word 'plan' when discussing the Twins FO. Therefore, forthwith, and henceforth, and heretofore, I am formally petitioning a moderator to penalize you 10,000 posts, putting you back with those who would! :)
  6. This team needs pitching, pitching, and then some more pitching. They are going to have to give up something to get it, and the only thing they have is offensive asssts. Someone, or several, treasured by many are going to have to go. Otherwise the last 2-3 weeks will be the future, hot winning streaks and cold losing streaks. And since Doziers current streak is as unsustainable as his lengthly cold one, I would sell high. This team isn't sitting here with good pitchers on the DL coming back next year, or any guys waiting in the Rochestere wings. And so far our top stud has only produced questions. The SP is a serious issue, with no resolution at the end of the existing tunnel.
  7. Someday, somehow, I hope that a decision on SS based on the defensive capabilities of Polanco/Escobar is not a discussion we will be having. It's not so much about whether either can "play" SS, it's whether they can raise the level of play there so it is a defensive plus. For the record, I still see Polanco's future at second, or as a possible fill in at third depending on the Sano outcome, and EE as a utility IF. I would still trade Dozier, but his streak makes the concept hard to defend. But no human being can continue not only to get his favorite pitch up in the zone, inside FB, PA after PA and continue to not miss one of them. It's beginning to border on crazy.
  8. This post made me think of watching the Twins, since April. It's like in an alternate reality. The games count for someone, and it's been fun to see some of the new guys, but deep down you know it don't make one hell of a bit of difference if they win or not. It's basically a 110 game extended ST!
  9. I am past fervent, or hope, or probably next year as well.
  10. Just think if you were an established NFL, and got yourself hurt in a f*^king preseason game! Ugh!
  11. What is Orlando hitting? If he can field like that, it can't be over .200
  12. I always wondered how that bunch in the Bible could wander if the desert for 40 yrs! I am beginning to know how they felt.
  13. I am really excited to see what this team is going to look like next year when we get out pitching issues straightened out............
  14. Catching up. Does Robbie know that you cannot walk unless the pitcher throws 4 pitches out of the strike zone? Just because you want to walk every AB, you might not get to.
  15. Yesterday FSN showed one of those catch up to the action videos, and the first three plays were Grossman lead footing it after a double. He really is not much help out there.
  16. The Twins are to pitching velocity, what the octogenarian in the tan Buick Park Avenue is to I94.
  17. There was a heated discussion on a GT recently about the appropriate time to use the CAP LOCK button. I doubt there will be any disagreement in its use on this thread! NO! NO! NO! I might add, the comments on this article would have been far more interesting if Reusse had written it! . Someone was going to broach the topic, and Seth did it in a relatively cohesive manner. . That said, I thought the 'con' section was about 4 pages too short!
  18. BD will be a barometer for a new front office. He is a valuable but replaceable asset. What the new FO does with him, will indicate whether they will be proactive in re-balancing and improving this roster, or continue to make square pegs fit round holes.
  19. Going into 2017, I'm not sure the Twins will have to make the decision as to whether or not they keep Eduardo Escobar or Danny Santana. There's a very real possibility that the 25 man roster has room for both players. Minnesota doesn't project to be significantly better a year from now, and filler players like both of the aforementioned names have a place in that type of situation.>>>>>>>>>>. This paragraph is two things. Very sad, and very true. And that will get us into what? Year 7? As for the topic, let's consider your paragraph correct. In essence I think it is. Also let's look at today's Twins v beginning of the year Twins. The influx of younger and generally more athletic talent is being felt. And while there are valid arguments for each player, I would only keep one. My choice would be Santana, but that's not why I write. Regardless of whom, I want the other spot to go to a Palka, ABW3, or someone we can evaluate. We don't have room for everyone as is.
  20. Please NO! His arm is pathetic. There's a good chance Ben Revere could have thrown that guy out last night. He runs lousy routes to balls. And it's becoming apparent that he thinks of every AB as a walk waiting to happen. He is the mirror image of Rosario at the plate. I have never understood how he even draws a walk. He is not a good enough hitter to strike fear into a pitcher, so make him hit the ball. That's a .250 OBP, tops. Walking him is borderline ridiculous. I know DanSan is toxic on TD, but I would take my chances on his upside over RG any day, plus he can fill in in the IF if needed.
  21. I am not as versed in the abilities of MiLB catchers as some are here. But I always hear that Turners defense is MLB ready? If so, could we not have a good defensive catcher, and let our 6 corner IF and DH types carry the offense. I am far from a Suzuki fan, but watching Centeno whiff on the low balls over and over, mitigates some of my Suzuki angst. It's hard to throw the low breaking ball late in the count, when you have no idea if your catcher will block it.
  22. Twins Daily is either for the better, or for the worse because of that teacher. Everyone will have to form their own opinion!
  23. I am just catching up on the GT, but if I find anymore posts of this nature I am notifying a moderator! . if I find a need to speak in a foreign tongue, I will speak Canadien!
  24. I too have dreaded the return of the Plouffe! Not so much because of Plouffe the player, but of Plouffe the position. His injury did stymy whatever chance there was of trading him, but the fact remains this team is no closer now than it was on April 1st over what to do about our plethora of DH/corner guys!
  25. After.a few more comments like Par. 2, you might want to add a third time frame........ After Marriage! As to road trip food. If you are into Chinese food, best Egg Foo Young ever at a sad looking little place in Prairie du Chien, yet another reason to trust the locals when they tell you where to eat!
