  1. The Red Sox true colors showed through. They are feeeling the fan base pressure and want more from the Twins. I say NO. The Twins deal was with the Dodgers, not the Red Sox. No new prospects, players or money from the Twins. The Sox fleeced the Twins by signing Ortiz and think they can do it again.
  2. Boston had to have done their due diligence and known how Graterol was preparing for the upcoming season (especially since the Twins announced it). I don't think it has anything to do with injury, injury history, etc... as Graterol pitched at the end of last season and in the playoffs (touching 100+). I think it is cold feet on return (no immediate starter to fill Price's spot) and angry fan base (trading Betts). Los Angeles and Minnesota should stand firm and let Boston catch all the flak for trying to renege on a trade (from the fans, the commissioners office and the player's union).

  4. I think he makes the team simply because injuries happen and he has position versatility. Donaldson and Sano both have a history of lower body injury issues, and Polanco is coming off of ankle surgery. Buxton, Rosario and Kepler have all also missed time due to injury. I don't think he can be packaged in a trade because of the Astro's scandal, but if he can be added as a throw-in for starting pitching, I think the team should do it.
  5. You cannot force a player to sign where he doesn't want to play. Donaldson seems to be using the Twins interest to jack up the $$ of the offer from the team he really wants to play for. That is his (agents) right to do. Too bad the Twins fell into the trap and we, the fans got excited about the possibility of him playing here (like the other players, I don't think there was ever a chance of him signing here). Time to move on.
  6. The word silly comes to mind when I think of Sano. He either looks silly or makes the pitcher look silly, doesn't seem to be an in between. I think more plate appearances should help that, but I can't help but think of something I heard Morneau say in one of his booth appearances with Dick. It went something along the line of being a run producer is not just about HR's, its about getting them in any way you can. A single with runners on second and third gets more runs in than a strikeout does, as does a fly ball with a runner on third. Discipline and maturity come as much with PA's as it does with age, and he has missed a lot of time the last few seasons. Lets see how he develops this year with Cruz and Gonzales around in addition to Rowson's coaching.
  7. Not impressed by Machado "Cadillac-ing" it to first, not just once but twice in this game. Post-season should be 100% effort 100% of the time. He's gonna get paid, but I am not a fan.
  8. I think Dick 'N' Bert said the team has 11 relievers currently on the big league roster, by my count at least 5 of these have no business being in the majors, expanded rosters or not. And as far as using an opener, DON'T!! The bullpen is far and away the worst part of a bad team, though I guess we wouldn't have to worry about them blowing a lead if they give up 4 or 5 in the 1st inning.
  9. At this point 2 years for $20M should be considered the top offer, especially with what Moustakas signed for, less than half of the qualifying offer. Otherwise let him sit until June.
  10. My belief is that he will either re-sign with the Twins or retire. He was born and raised in the metro, opted to sign with the team instead of going away to college, signed his big contract before hitting free agency and is raising a family here. He also doesn't seem the type to chase numbers or money. I believe if he doesn't have a contract by or before early next off-season he will announce his retirement rather than being forced to retire because of no free agent offers (look how slowly free agency is moving along this year with all the young front office guys and the sabermetrics). He then joins Molitors staff and is groomed to become the teams manager (JK, he might join the front office, but probably decides to play golf and raise kids).
  11. I think the team should try and get whoever the Cubs don't! I'm sure Maddon wants Hickey and Theo wants Maddux, let's see who wins and go get the "loser".
  12. Another thing to remember about a Dozier extension, Pohlad still loves Joe Mauer, like it or not (I like it), and another contract for him may signify an end to Dozier's time in MN. The 1B market that year is weak and I don't think the Twins want to move Sano (just my thoughts, I have no idea) unless Mauer leaves or retires.
  13. How close is the next 2B? Who is the next 2B? if the brain trust thinks that the next 2B is ready in 2020, offer Dozier the qualifying offer, if he takes it great, if not, hope the kid is ready or put Adrianza out there as a stop gap. Also remember that Dozier, Mauer, and Santana are all free agents after 2018 (team has option on Santana), lots of freedom to build this team.
  14. Unless Mauer is shut down or an injury to Plouffe or Sano happens, there is nowhere to play Vargas.
  15. Where do you play him? 1B, DH, and RF/LF are full.
  16. Sorry guys, didnt see that Rosario was in CF.
  17. Really! Santana over Rosario. C'mon Molly, how about we play the guys with a future here instead of another failed Twins SS prospect who will be out of baseball....oh never mind we got him until 2020.
  18. We don't get paid to do that, he does. But at least he put it in play, right?
  19. Maybe, but all he needed was to hit a flyball and and he would have gotten another one. Kind of a gimme, just go get it.
  20. And boom, tie game. Team needs to get these runners in when given the chance.
  21. C'mon guys, neither of our "RBI" guys, Plouffe & Vargas, can hit a fly ball to get the runner in from third? Players need to know how to get these runs in!
  22. Set Plouffe free!! HA ha, JK! Send him through waivers and let whoever claims him have him. Otherwise DFA him, he will be too expensive next year (as a utility player) and Molitor will feel obligated to play him.
  23. This is called re-building, i.e...let the kids play. Missed signs, not executing bunts, cold streaks with flashes of brilliance, etc..., the things Ryan wouldn't do. The kids are here for good (hopefully), be ready for more "unmitigated" disasters. Should be fun!!
  24. Pace of play, gametime,etc.... Whatever you want to call it, there is more action in a baseball game than in a football game, according to a Wall Street Journal study from 2013 (http://www.wsj.com/articles/SB10001424127887323740804578597932341903720). But on each play in a football game all 22 players are doing something, whereas a baseball play might only involve 2 players doing something. I personally enjoy baseball more, I kind of go into "robot" mode during football games (rush left, rush right, incomplete pass, punt....or is that just the Vikings!).
