  1. If they truly are committed to improving the defense, they start Adrianza at SS, with Polanco moving to utility infielder. Santana is gone, possibly Escobar as well. If not, I guess Adrianza could replace Santana/Escobar, but then they're not really committed to improving the defense.
  2. Dozier doesn't have enough arm to play on the left side of the infield.
  3. There are 3 (2 if they carry 13 pitchers) bench spots not counting catcher. You're going to dedicate 2 of those spots to late inning defensive replacements? Including OF? That doesn't make sense to me.
  4. Is it "EYE-ray?" My Spanglish is even worse than my English.
  5. The Twins "should have no trouble scoring runs?" I hope you're right, but that seems pretty optimistic. As for Grossman, I'm going to have to see it again to believe last year wasn't a mirage.
  6. I'm not at all sure "final" is correct. Opportunity for lawsuits, IMO. The more I look into this, the more I believe the University process needs overhaul, from athlete oversight, to the EEOE office, to disciplinary SOPs. Nobody looks good, including the female, who changed her story yet again. She now admits she wasn't intoxicated.
  7. I'm approaching 40. In dog years.
  8. I predict I'll be up at 3, getting a brisket into the smoker. As to the game, I predict a NE win. 31-27 sounds about right. Somehow, Belichek will find a way to bend the odds slightly in his favor in a technically legal but entirely questionable way.
  9. Have you read the Dozier threads? Set aside a week to ten days, if not.
  10. "But I try not to let that cloud my judgment of the front office and conflate "I'm disappointed" with "they failed". Precisely.
  11. I very much want to like the new front office. And I understand they are doing some reorganization, that hopefully will pay dividends down the road. The offseason isn't over. I also understand that as a fan...I'm left pretty underwhelmed with the visible effort to date.
  12. "The way the picks fell?" They had the first pick.
  13. Can someone refresh my memory...what did the Twins wind up receiving for having the first pick in the rule 5 draft and ending up with the guy drafted 8th?
  14. wrong-oh, mr smarty pants. No flip phone here.
  15. Pray tell...what was the response?
  16. "Guessing what was in JDGoin's mom's basement." OOOOHHHHHHHHH, I KNOW this one... J. D. Goin!
  17. I'm guessing because the current front office doesn't think the starting pitching can be fixed by adding 1 iffy prospect, either. Particularly at the cost of your best everyday player.
  18. There is no such thing as a pitching prospect. I read that somewhere.
  19. At the risk of repeating myself: I was happy with the hiring of both Falvey and Levine. They appear to me--from a distance--to be exactly the type of hires I wanted. They seem to me to be smart, experienced execs with sound baseball backgrounds. Young, analytically savvy, from outside the org...pretty much the exact guys we all screamed for. So...if they discuss a trade for months, and end up not making it, I am going to assume they did so because they didnt get the right offer. We all sort of agree, if the offer was De Leon plus another legitimate prospect, say Alvarez or even Beuhler, we'd take that. If that's the consensus here...seems plausible Falvine would agree. Which leads me to believe either that was never offered, or the Twins don't place as much value on De Leon as prospect mavens. I trust this new front office. I think they deserve that, for a while at least. They can see everything we can and have actual facts from which to base their decision. Criticisng them at this point seems unfair.
  20. "Major downgrade if Dozier has another year like he did in 2016 or improves. I would bet zero dollars and zero cents either of those things happen." If Forsythe isn't a "major downgrade" from Dozier, then he's a minor downgrade, right? If that's not what you're saying, my bad.
  21. So on the one hand, there isn't a great deal of difference between Dozier and Forsythe, but on the other hand, the Dodgers offered significantly more for Dozier than Forsythe? That doesn't make sense to me.
  22. He's a nice pickup, no doubt, but I haven't seen him ranked as the number 1 safety in the nation. Number 1 safety in Alabama, consensus 3star. I do agree I'm exited about Fleck's potential as a recruiter, he's upgraded this class quite a bit already in very little time, and I believe he'll do better in the future.
