Not curious. All RH starters upcoming in Chicago. I'd guess both Larnach and Wallner are likely lineup adds all three days

Both Margot and Farmer have more PAs vs RH pitching than LH. And in Farmer's case, he can't hit either....sub .600 OPS vs both handed pitchers. I'd dump Margot in a second, but at least he can still provide a little offense against LH pitching. Of course, Rocco misuses him, so even that singular skill gets watered down. But I doubt Julien is less useful than Farmer.

Astros (Arrighetti) v Twins (SWR); 7/7/24 @ 1:10pm CT

No Alvarez for Houston. No Miranda for the Twins. -
It seems everyone has been writing Stewart and Topa into the Twins pen since winter. And still are. I need to see a month of production from either before I count on either. I'd be very surprised if Topa provides anything to the Twins this year. Not only is there the tendon issue, but he has exactly 1 decent MLB season under his belt, at age 33. And Stewart has his own extensive history of injury, not to mention he's 32 and last year was wayyyyy out of line with his history. The Twins need bullpen help. Stat.

I gotta think it's Martin. With Winder down for Paddack Monday. If they send Winder down for Wallner, somebody needs to go Monday anyway. They need a starter Monday.

First of all, no manager in baseball is managing Sunday's pen on a Friday night in the middle innings of a two run game. Secondly, I'd guess only Alcala and Sands are off limits Sunday. And HAD Staumont thrown an inning Friday night, that's not necessarily reason to think he can't pitch again Sunday. Believe it or not, MLB relievers have, on occasion, thrown on 2 out of 3 days. Which is an example of why nobody is managing Sunday's bullpen on a Friday night.

Astros (Brown) vs Twins (Ryan): 7/6/24, 1:10pm

It's possible someone didn't exactly pay for that view. -
No, they're not. For this weekend they're 4/9 of his available choices. And Winder is number 9.

Really fun day at TF today. Nice crowd, good weather, lots of offense, and a W. -

He's well below league average for the year, where he's been every year of his career except one. He provides no defensive value, and isn't a valuable base runner. He can hit left handed pitching, most likely, at an acceptable rate. But he's pretty much unusable against RH pitching. Of course, our genius manager has somehow managed to give him more PAs against RH pitching than LH. With a .477 OPS to show for it. Get him off the team so Rocco can't use him. And for the record, it was April AND May where he was awful, not just "April." And further for the record, the lazy fliner that clanked off his glove in left last night proved to be the one run difference.

Winder was, by definition, the 8th best option provided by management. With at least 6 of the better ones rested and available. And "8th best" is generous, in that Winder is actually lower than that on the actual bullpen depth chart. He was 8th of those available yesterday to Baldelli. Why would he be the 2nd reliever called on in a 2 run game? For multiple innings, no less, after coughing up a run in his first inning? If you won't question THAT, I submit you're not objective.

? When he was PH for, Hader wasn't even warming up, much less in the game.

Stewart? -
They wouldn't BE behind 7 without Winder's contributions. Why TF was he the 2nd reliever called on in a winnable game, with a rested pen? By definition he's the 8th best reliever, and that's generous.

Josh Winder isn't good enough to be on the team. He's only here as an extra arm for the weekend. We had an almost completely rested pen. Why is Winder in the game AT ALL, much less multiple innings in what was a 2 run game. With 9 outs left for the offense. Why? Why wouldn't Winder be the last option, maybe on Sunday if the pen is spent? He's not good enough to be on the team, but he's the second guy up? Don't agree with sending Lopez out for the 6th either, but that's at least understandable. Really disappointing outing from Lopez.

Seldom? I think it's fair to recognize both poor players AND poor management. They're not mutually exclusive. And I don't see many, if any, people who want the manager replaced who don't also recognize and comment on both good and bad play. And rather ironically, one of my primary complaints about Rocco is his absolute refusal to recognize bad play from his players. He plays Vazquez at catcher as much as Jeffers, ferpetesakes. Your beef should be with Rocco, for not placing blame appropriately. -
Royce Lewis, Injuries, and Stupid Luck

4 soft tissue injuries requiring IL time in a year of baseball isn't bad luck or random chance. Somebody is doing something wrong.
