    Speaking of "don't get it," Mrs Chief is really mad at me, and I'm at a loss as to what the big deal is. She blames me, I guess, for ruining her birthday last week. And I gotta say, that's a bit unfair. I mean, I didn't even remember it WAS her birthday.

    Why? He's 27. 6th year of MiLB. 7th year since being drafted. 1500 MiLB PAs. He doesn't need everyday playing time for development. The sole consideration is if he's an upgrade, even a minor one, over current Twins 4th and/or 5th OF spots. And a 40 man spot, of course. That's all that matters.

    I've long been in agreement with a quote I can't place: "Baseball is the sport least likely to go according to plan in the short term, but most likely in the long term" It takes a long season for the difference between a team giving up 4.2 runs per game and a team giving up 4.7 to inevitably show up. But show up it will.

    I agree they'd be better off with an actual hitter at DH, but I'd rather have Kirilloff (or basically anyone) and Jeffers in the lineup than Vazquez and Jeffers. Trading out Vazquez for Kirilloff is an easy choice. There's nothing all that valuable about Vazquez's defense, if that's what you're shooting for.

    I hate to applaud a double play grounder, but at least he put the ball in play and a run scored.

    I don't think anyone on the bench actually called that pitch. What I think is that the Twins, as an organization, are in love with breaking balls. I think they encourage their catchers to call for a lot of them and their pitchers to throw a lot of them.
