  1. When did Rosario hit? His .289 OBP in 2015 was him "hitting"?
  2. 65 of his 68 starts in 2015 were at SS. Was he worn out when he hit .215/.241/.291 last year?
  3. For everyone saying Santana serves a purpose. He's been the worst player in all of baseball since the start of 2015. What purpose is he serving?
  4. John Jaso is 32 and had all of 10 major league at bats by the age Arcia is today.
  5. His MLB OPS vs Right handed pitchers is .785 (.316/.469). I don't think you'll find many people who thought he should be a full time starter in the outfield. But he could've been an extremely productive LH Platoon at DH
  6. I'm fine with Park being in the Majors, the team is awful so why not. But sending him to AAA for a few weeks > Letting go of Arcia.
  7. You missed option Park who is 5 years older than Arcia
  8. It was another poster who brought up Beresford. I think his point was... there's no need to keep Danny Santana around because there are plenty of players always available capable of his production. Beresford was just one example (not saying the team needs him now, just that he's a guy you could use in a pinch)
  9. I'm not understanding your argument. DFA'ing Danny Santana instead of Arcia would've opened a 40 man spot for Bereford or a random waiver utility guy
  10. It's a very difficult injury to diagnose, the tears don't often show up in an MRI. So you tell him to go in and have the surgery right away, and his career is likely over... or you see if rehab will work and try to hold off on the surgery. The Twins medical staff has deserved blame for how they've handled injuries in the past, I'm not seeing it here. *Perkins should not have been pitching the opening week, or in the 2nd half last year. I'm not sure if that's on him or the staff
  11. At least Punto was good at something (defense), there's literally nothing Santana is good at other than being fairly speedy
  12. As bad as Buxton was for the first 3 weeks, and as meh he's been in the 2 weeks since the recall.... He'll have a higher OPS than Plouffe if he gets a hit next at bat
  13. Arcia being a butcher in the OF seems a bit irrelevant when discussing the DH spot. Odd that the Angels knew they could get him out anytime they wanted too, but chose not to earlier in the year when he mashed vs them in a 3 game series, including a GW home run
  14. That's really only true if you are willing to give the same weight to low minors numbers as you are upper minors numbers. Kepler blows Rosario out of the water if you look at AA+AAA Rosario hasn't cracked a .290 OBP since 2013 in New Britain
  15. I think this year has proved we should never pretend to know what the Twins will do.... But he's made as many starts in CF as they've given Polanco at SS this year. Plouffe and Escobar have each been on the DL so there's been plenty of opportunity to get him in lineup. (I'm not saying he's not a SS, I'm saying it sure appears the Twins don't think he is)
  16. Maybe I read it wrong, but the crux of the argument in that post seemed to place great significance on 2016 Jorge Polanco. Again, I have no issues with someone calling Polanco an equal or greater prospect than Kepler, I just think breaking down stats into super small sample sizes isn't that informative. 2015 MiLB numbers; Polanco - .288/.339/.386 Kepler - .322/.416/.531 That's not an insignificant difference. I have no idea if Polanco can play SS long term, but if he gets added pts for SS, then Kepler should for CF as well... the Twins seem equally likely to play Kepler in CF as Polanco at SS. I think they both have potential to be High OBP guys that this lineup desperately needs.
  17. Only looking at Polanco's 160 at bats in his specified sample vs Kepler's entire career is a terrible example. If we only want to look at recent history, then Kepler was the MVP of the league they both played in during 2015....
  18. Kepler and Polanco are both good prospects, I would rank Kepler higher, but don't have an issue with people who see Polanco as a better candidate. But I'm sorry.. "please compare Polanco's 48 MLB at bats spread out over 3 seasons and his 113 AAA at bats this year, to Kepler's entire career" is laugh out loud funny. If we want to use numbers to evaluate them, maybe, just maybe... we should be looking at all of the numbers, not cherry picking the ones that fit our narrative "I think Kepler is the better prospect, just look at his Southern League MVP season numbers vs what Jorge Polanco did in the Gulf Coast league in 2010 and 2011!"
  19. Calling a kid low character and questioning his morals because he wasn't chummy with fans as an 18, 19, 20 year old is pretty damn unfair.
  20. What has Kohl Stewart done to be labeled as low character and immoral? Seems a tad bit unfair
  21. Gotcha, I thought you were referencing saving money to sign Groome in Round 1
  22. Mobley, Hamilton's 12th grade English teacher, will never forget the day that Hamilton cut class. It was during his senior year and Mobley couldn't ever remember Hamilton cutting class before. In fact, he was paranoid about getting into trouble. Hamilton was Yessir and No, ma'am. He didn't smoke or drink alcohol. He was the kid who would give his grandmother a peck on the cheek before every game. The kid who chose not to go to his senior prom because it might put him in a compromising situation. But this day was different. "One afternoon a female student of mine was having a personal need emergency," Mobley begins. "There was an item that a woman would need and she didn't have it and couldn't get it. It was very obvious that she needed to go home and change clothes, but for some reason she could not reach her family. Then she ran into Josh. As soon as Josh saw her, he didn't hesitate. He drove her home. He cut two classes and that was not a good thing for Josh to be doing. When he got back to school, he was called into the office and our principal Walt Sherlin asked him, 'Why did you leave school without permission to take this young lady home?' "Well," Hamilton said, "she asked me."
  23. Josh Hamilton had makeup issues pre-draft? You'll have to refresh me on those, because pretty much every team thought he was the perfect prospect. Tim Beckham pre-draft scouting report: "His makeup is a plus, as he displays an enjoyment of the game and energy on the field" - Baseball America Donovan Tate http://www.perfectgame.org/Articles/View.aspx?article=852 Frankly, I can't see 1 inkling of make-up questions for any one of these guys except Matt Bush leading up to their draft. This seems like odd revisionist history
  24. 5 years may have been an exaggeration, and I'm not claiming that is Ryan's thinking. Just pointing out for all we know he has 0 plans to trade Plouffe, and he may be in their long term plans. He's not a Free Agent after the year, and there aren't a ton of examples of starting players with control left who Ryan has traded
  25. The $8 million is only for rounds 1-10, punting on every pick after round 10 wouldn't help them sign Groome. I'm guessing they'd have to go underslot in Round 2, and at least with one of the supplemental picks (not that I'm against going this route, just pointing it out)
