  1. Yeah, Berardino didn't understand how that works which seems to be leading to all this confusion. Duffey could be sent down now They had plenty of ways to NOT have a 2 man bench, but chose not to
  2. With Milone not even getting through the 5th last night, again, does Berrios debut at home on Sunday vs the Tigers? Who do you think makes that Sunday start; Milone Berrios Meyer Duffey
  3. It all goes back to the irrational love for Danny Santana - if they just saw him for what he was, a back-up, they would have kept Kepler up to play CF every day, at least until Plouffe was back. Danny Santana would be the utility infielder, Rosario the 4th outfielder. But because they have convinced themselves Danny Santana isn't the trainwreck that we all see, they had to send Kepler down so DSan could play CF most days.
  4. Apparently they are keeping Duffey around in case Santana missed his next start, but they could've sent Duffey down and brought him right back if Santana went to the DL... I'd wager on this roster throughout the Indians series
  5. Baseless? They made a 40 man roster move in order to promote Murphy, he chose to quit instead. That's a fact Do you know it's a 1 day roster? The only position players they are allowed to call up are Adam Walker and Kennys Vargas, neither of whom have any business sniffing a major league roster tomorrow
  6. I'd rather see Rosario out there than Santana, but you can't be serious quoting UZR for the 40 some innings Rosario has played in CF....
  7. I mean he's at .200/.357/.218 in AAA. It almost HAS to be an infielder if they are intent on Danny Santana being the regular center fielder, right? They don't currently have a backup infielder Or dare I say, Sano goes back to 3rd, Nunez becomes the backup around the IF, and Arcia and Rosario play in the corners? Then theoretically Mastro would be the 4th OFer
  8. This is shocking (in a good way). But ummm. How do they get back to a 12 or 13 position player 25 man roster now? In a way, does this make today's moves even more confusing (even though most of us I'm sure are happy Murphy won't be on the roster)?
  9. I wouldn't even have Santana on the roster, so I definitely would not worry about stunting his development. Kepler showed in the minimal amount of at bats he might be able to take the most professional at bats of anyone on the roster not named Mauer. Who knows why he wasn't given more.
  10. The explanation I keep hearing is "Kepler needs to play every day"... umm, ok, the Twins have an opening in CF. Every day. Problem solved.
  11. I'm the biggest Buxton backer there is, and I have no issue with demoting him. However I will scream until I'm red in the face about how they chose to do it. Danny Santana, who hit like Buxton over 91 games last year is the replacement, David Murphy who should be playing across the river in St. Paul is going to get major at bats, Kepler for some reason was not an option, etc. Complete and utter incompetency
  12. Didn't we all spend 3 months this off-season discussing how there was no plan? Pats everyone on the back, good work guys
  13. I'm as ready as I can be, because I fully expect that to happen. All of their problems will be solved with a Murphy - Rosario - Sano outfield! And Danny Santana ready to fill in 5 times a week* Arcia on the bench obviously because he had a bad game once last week *Let's just ignore that Rosario and Santana are as bad of hitters as the current version of Buxton
  14. If someone has a logical explanation for why they are under the assumption David Murphy is needed, I'm all ears. I keep hearing through the FO mouth pieces in the media that he was signed to "send a message" to the young guys like Buxton. But he isn't a Buxton replacement, if the Twins want to demote Buxton they have Santana being activated, and Kepler should be the every day CFer in that scenario.
  15. Remember when people said Berrios couldn't be called up because the 40 man roster was so precious and he wasn't on it? And then the Twins released a needed catcher from it so they could add a 34 year old left handed hitting corner OF/Dh of which they already have 3 who are better and potentially part of the future (Arcia, Rosario, Kepler)? That was fun. This season has been fun
  16. Again, there is plenty of dead weight on the back-end of the 40 man roster. DFA'ing Casey Fien, Pat Dean, etc is in no sense of the word an "extreme" move. I would wager any amount of money that Berrios does not get called up behind Duffy, Dean and Meyer. Frankly I'd be surprised if he was behind Duffy AND Meyer (Dean is not a logical candidate in any way)
  17. One quick nitpick. You think Tommy Milone puts more fans in the seats than Alex Meyer or Jose Berrios? Also, why would you assume they would/ might struggle? These aren't hitters being rushed from AA, they are pitchers with lots of succesful innings at AAA
  18. The babip was high, I see that in 2015. The issue has always been his control, and I would say the obvious number that jumps out is a high 4.4 bb/9 jumps to 5.4 bb/9... that should be going the other way... Berrios has walked some guys this year... still has only 22 in his 92.2 AAA innings. 2 less than Meyer had in his 39 (starter) innings last year. If Meyer gets called up to replace Milone I would be ecstatic... I just think Berrios should be ahead in the pecking order (Unless of course neither are called up until June, because the Twins can't manage a roster, and Meyer is still cruising along at that point)
  19. That's not really a valid comparison at all. He only made 8 starts in AAA in 2015, most of that was in relief. I'm not trying to bash Meyer at all, but he walked 24 in 39 innings as a starter. He was a disaster as a starter last year. And yeah, I know he was the higher ranked prospect. I said he is still the higher upside guy. But if he can't throw strikes for 6+ innings it doesn't matter how good his stuff is. His 3 starts have been very encouraging. Personally I would like to see another month. I don't know if Berrios will be a #2, 3, 4 in the Majors over the long run, but I do think he's better than Tommy Milone today.
  20. Extreme move = promoting a top pitching prospect who has been dominant in 15 starts in AAA? Not sure I understand that one...
  21. I think people are putting way too much thought into the Berrios 40 man "issue". There is plenty of dead weight to cut loose. He will get the call because he has the least amount to still prove at AAA - Meyer may have the higher ceiling, but its fair to say he needs more starts after last seasons debacle.
  22. I'm not going to go point for point, but just wanted to say I disagree with every single thing you wrote, and hope you aren't Terry Ryan in disguise posting on this board
  23. You're thinking of Milone to their pitcher I believe... it was an awful call, caught all of the plate.. he did strike him out on the next pitch though
  24. It would be pretty amazing if he was... someone tweeted at Doogie 30 minutes ago and said he is on the field taking BP in Rochester.
