  1. 1) If there is a real belief that struggling for a couple weeks in the Majors is hurting development, then yeah, a player might need to be sent down. 2) The players performance is hurting the team. In regards to Buxton at least - It doesn't sound if his confidence is shaken at all, the at bats do seem to be getting better... so I'm not sure there is an argument for #1 (get back to me in mid to late May) For 2) The replacement in CF would likely be Eddie Rosario/ Danny Santana and David Murphy (LF). So your defense is going to dramatically decline, and oh ya, Rosario and Santana are as lost if not more than Buxton at the plate... and yeah, they are 0-9 so before to long the Win/Loss column for this season won't mean much
  2. FWIW - Shore was not in Keith Law's top 50 draft prospects. I asked him if he was close/considered and his was response was a simple "no." I said interesting, as I've heard the Twins floating his name (local kid and all) and he said re; Shore "it's not that kind of stuff at all"
  3. AME Sports tweeted multiple cheap shots for no apparent about Mauer before the season. Extremely unprofessional for a business that relies on Twins players for promotion. I won't give them $1, and I think its disappointing Rosario and the Twins are apparently working with them on this.
  4. Do you believe there was no injury when he was throwing 90 at the end of March and gave multiple indignant responses to anyone questioning the velocity? If no, then when do you believe the injury happened, after or during the terrible inning he had Sunday (which he did complete).
  5. There is any excuse for tweeting vile, over the top things @ pro athletes, or especially their significant others. That being said, her post was about how much money he makes, and how the criticism he receives is undeserved because none of us are perfect. It is certainly true that none of us are perfect, when I screw up at work, no one tweets about it, talks about it on radio, etc.... but I also don't make anywhere near the amount of money she was all too happy to point out on multiple occasion he makes. If a baseball player doesn't want to be criticized, he doesn't have to play baseball...
  6. I think the point she was attempting to make was valid enough (losers sending death threats, etc. to athletes after they have bad outings)... she came across in how she wrote it pretty terribly...
  7. I think you misunderstood the joke. I was mocking a "blog" written by Perkins wife where she said in her own words, anyone who is mad that he blew saves is just jealous because he is doing something all of you could only dream of. Also, they flaunted the Porsche all over social media, around the same time as that blog, and his awful 2nd half.
  8. No need to feel bad for him, he lives a life and makes more money than you could only dream of... if you don't believe me, his wife will tell you. Oh ya, and he has a Porsche
  9. 2 weeks ago..... “Honestly, I could care less what it is,’’ Perkins said. “I haven’t uncorked a [regular-season] pitch. I don’t really see a point in me wowing anybody right now.’’ “I will be right where I need to be once the season starts and as we get going,’’ he said. Pretty typical Perkins, gets shelled and suddenly has an "injury" again. Maybe he could've told the team in March he was hurt and they would be 1-6.....
  10. Or maybe it's over-rating a "strong finish to SP" *By the way, I assume SP = Spring Training
  11. Yeah except that OPS means very little when he's batting with 2 outs and no one on base. But sure, we should continue to give Santana and Rosario more at bats than him
  12. Any idea why Mauer hitting 2nd this year lasted all of 2 games? Does he move back there today?
  13. Oh trust me, I am in no way giving them a pass for it. I'm agreeing with you. I think it's absolutely crazy that they could be so ill prepared for this. I could've told you in October they wouldn't get a big return for Plouffe.
  14. Because they did not expect to win the bidding on Park, and did not expect there to be no trade market for an ok at best 3rd baseman making $8 million. I really think it is as simple as that, as stupid as it may sound. Complete panic by a short sighted organization
  15. It's too bad baseball has that rule that doesn't allow you to use your closer who hasn't pitched yet this year with a 1 run lead in the 8th, especially since a LH led off for the Royals
  16. Since he was the 1st player that popped into my mind when I thought about low obp outfielder... Mark Trumbo has a career obp of .300, probably a reasonable guess for Rosario at this point. He's had 22, 29, 32, 34 home run seasons, and reached the .800 ops mark only 1 time, with a career mark of .758. I think the .459 slg% Rosario put up last year may end up being a career high... Hard to see him ever approaching those triple numbers again. I'll predict something like .270/.300/.400 this year. I agree with those that said LF is Keplers most likely spot this year
  17. There is no need to put him on the 40 man until he is going to be on the 25. Not being on the 40 man will in no way effect when he makes the 25. The only thing keeping him off both right now is the health of veterans with big contracts. He'll be up soon
  18. Agree, I think Kepler will get 400+ plate appearances this year, I think many may come at the expense of a guy you didn't have on your list; Rosario. I was more responding to the post about having to get something for Plouffe. I think theoretically they could be a better lineup without him (because of the whole Sano rf issue)
  19. Certainly a fair opinion, I don't think either of us are clearly right or wrong. I'm not upset Kepler isn't on the Opening Day roster or anything, I get it. I just think the lineup is awfully right handed, and worry about who is going to get on base. I also don't value Plouffe to the point where he's someone I have to keep unless they get top value in return.
  20. I'm talking over the entire season, not merely April. I think Plouffe's bat is redundant in this lineup, low obp, some HR power, right handed. I think Kepler would be more than capable of being a top 2-3 obp guy this season.
  21. I don't think looking at WAR in this situation is necessarily right. I think its fair to assume the infield defense would be worse, and the OF defense would be much better, with Sano at 3b and Kepler in RF. I think from a lineup stand point, Kepler is the left handed bat they lack, and would certainly be more than capable of exceeding the low to mid .700's ops that Plouffe puts up (higher obp, potentially lower slg%, but debateable). That said, its not going to happen... so I will hope for the best.
  22. Right. Personally I think its a better team with Sano at 3B and Kepler in RF. I hope Plouffe surprises me since he obviously is not going anywhere.
  23. Ditto, but Fien appears to be their right handed Brian Duensing. Will be kept around much longer than his usefulness.
