  1. Great article as usual, Nick, but you really mean Robbie Grossman is actually faster than Adrianza? I highly doubt that!

    Time to diss Dozier

Don’t know if it was last year or the year before, but he got out of his horrible slump then by going to RF. Tonight both of his doubles were to right and right center. When this happened before-looking to go the opposite way- he absolutely took off and was a monster for the rest of the season. The homers will return for him then when he’ll get better pitches to hammer. Glad for Brian!
  3. I agree about Polanco, Doc!!
  4. Like most Twins fans, I hated the extension, and still do not understand it. But there is no denying Hughes is a warrior. I respect what he accomplished in his major league career, and understand that, although part of the game, career threatening injuries don’t always happen to the other team’s players.
  5. Seth mentioned tonight that Sano is headed to Rochester tomorrow for a rehab assignment. If the Twins were smart, they’d leave him there until his weight is where the trainers want it. The Twins are unlikely to make the playoffs this year, so now is the time to find out who their players of the future are. I’m sure all of us are disappointed to see a young man with immense ability continually battling injuries because he stubbornly refuses to get in playing shape. An extended stay in Rochester might get the message across.
  6. Gonsalves pitching was the best news of the 2018 Twins baseball calendar- including major and minor league franchises!!!!! June 1 to 0ctober 1 #1-Gonsalves (13-3) #2- Romero. (9-5) #3- Berrios. (17-7) #4- Santana (13-9) #5- May. (6-3)
  7. My opinion about the 4th outfielder: he is only going to play 1-2 times a week, so he has to be a good soldier and not complain about sitting. He has to have a “decent” chance to get on base as a late inning pinch hitter. He most likely is a marginal player, since the front office doesn’t want to prospect to come to the show to sit. He more than likely is perceived to be a good clubhouse influence. Hence Grossman. If the front office deems it ok that a player of Grossman’s ilk is going to play for an extended period of time, the fans have to accept that this is a problem for the portion of the season when this happens. It would be nice if Wade would come up until Buxton is healthy, and Grossman agreed to go to Rochester during that time. But what do you think the chances of that happening are?
  8. If Berrios doesn’t win Sunday, there should be some serious panic in all of Twins Territory. Our pitching just made the worse team in baseball look like the ‘27 Yankees! This from a team that had already been shut out 4 times this year. The entire organization has the look of a group that’s about to have a date with the executioner. I believe all 4 minor league teams have losing records, and except for our 3 studs pitchers we have been waiting to breathe life into the boys, the hitters have been bad, I don’t even know. 50% of the so-called offense, who by the way are pretty average or slightly below average. When the management’s post analysis of each past season, and then predictions for the new year of success always mentions the need for pitching improvement-improvement we expect we should see from cast off veterans other clubs no longer want for both the starters and relievers, expecting middle age players released by other clubs to suddenly come here and be aces and stoppers and sure thing closers. So, feeble hitting, and atrocious pitching = losing streaks. Doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result-you Know- is the definition of insanity.
  9. I’ve been impressed with Ryan LeMarre. Can someone bring some vital statistics about this guy, please? Age, other teams he’s been with, good “d” or good “bat?” Right or left handed. Thanks, Seth should know this info backwards and forwards.
  10. Reading the earlier posts has changed my opinion on the 4th outfield position. Originally, I thought Grossman could go, and someone else would emerge. But I continue to be worried that this club might be susceptible to left handed pitching. Mauer, Lomo, Kepler, and Castro (probably Rosario, too) are considerably weaker against southpaws. It seems to me that last year we saw a lot of Loogys in the late innings to face one of the guys mentioned above. Garver and Escobar would be good options if that situation occurs (If Escobar isn’t already starting). But so would Grossman, and to me he makes more sense than Adrianza or Granite. It appears possible that the team heads north with 13 pitchers, and if that happens we would be left with only 3 options on the bench. Grossman just makes too much sense right now. I like Seth’s choice for pitchers, except I would trade Busenitz for Presley. I think that kid has a chance to be a stud, and I loved what I saw last year. If Busenitz has options, I guess Presley could make the club initially, but if his inconsistencies continue, Busenitz would only be a phone call away. In addition, I think Duffy should be a lock as the long guy. Every team absolutely needs one, but few pitchers have the mental capacity to pitch in that roll. Hughes ‘could’ do it, but I don’t think he would be happy. Finally, my “sleeper” is Zach Littell. I’ve seen him pitch a couple of days ago, and he was terrific.
  11. Any more old, unsigned guys out there?
  12. Another typical, washed up, and inexplicable pickup by the FO. Really? I agree, Seth, someone is going to lose their spot on the 40 man that could come back to haunt these guys. What it really tells me that a possible pickup of one of the remaining free agent pitchers is probably gone. How about we try one of “our” guys first! Looks like Falvine has little confidence in our farm system!
  13. I have enjoyed reading this excellent analysis of why Darvish is going to sign with Minnesota. The authors have been beyond informative and thorough in their presentations. Except for the Super Bowl, this has been the story that all of Minnesota, and especially TD readers, have been salivating over. But do you actually think Darvish is going to spurn the “bright lights” of Los Angeles or Chicago for ................ the Minnesota Twins? Come on!
  14. Wolves moved the ball efforately in the first half, and looked super. Then, as great as Butler is, went to a one on one game in the 2nd half with him and Crawford. Ball stopped moving. Last quarter, especially, was tough to watch. Disappointing.
  15. It would be just like the Twins to sign Rodney-typical Twin move-drafting old, washed up reliever. New front office-same old moves.
  16. Eddie has been fabulous lately, but he gives so many bats away.
  17. Just jumping into this thread now, but I love Gee's tempo. Same with Slegers. It makes the games so much fun to watch! (Also fun to watch when Twins score 6 runs in one inning!)
  18. All professional teams take on the personality of their manager/head coach, IMHO. No doubt Molitor is a true Hall of Famer, an all around terrific player, but I don't see his players play with a lot of intensity. Again, just my opinion. I'm sure it's difficult to succeed in a small market where money and attraction of free agents is difficult. All of us second guess all the managers, and when your team wins everyone is a genius. Molly failed as a hitting coach for Seattle, and very few humans have as much knowledge of hitting than him. So go figure. In the end, I'd like to see the new regime have the say on "their" manager. Personally, I'm a big fan of Dougie Baseball- a guy who has seen many of the current players on the way through the system, and someone who relates to the younger players.
  19. Amazing, disgusting, embarrassing effort by supposedly major league players. Totally unwatchable. I was planning on taking my grandkids to a game this weekend. I am not going to spend good money to watch these guys. Why would any decent free agent want to come to Minnesota? The culture in this clubhouse must be something. My personal thought is that this type of play starts with the manager. And, really, how much actual talent is on this club? Sano and maybe Buxton would play on the worst team in baseball. MAYBE. I'd love to see some kind of ass kicking, but that's not in this club's DNA. Curt out
  20. Man, I hope it's not Garver- Twins wouldn't be that stupid, would they?
