  1. I think the point that most/many are missing is that this thread has provided a vehicle to increase what little interest there is in the Twins. It took me 11 pages to read all the previous posts before I could contribute, and that's a good thing, because interest in the Twins is at the lowest level that I can remember. I hope Dave is right, but if not, it still was fun that people got involved in this discussion.
  2. I would like to see the boys go after Guillon. Let's face it- the Twins are likely to lose 100+ games again this year, and they obviously could stash Guillon someplace in the pen and let him face lefties for awhile. Or he could come up with a misterious injury that would place him on the DL for part of the year. Doc's reference to Johan is enough for me to go along with the 100,000 gamble.
  3. It would be insane to sign Napoli! If they are looking for a veteran presence, I bet they could find one for 5 million, not 50. And I agree with Dave-let's get some pitching help.
  4. He's not necessarily a tv guy, but I love to listen to Tom Kelly's analysis. He's also not afraid to criticize bad player performances.
  5. I agree with Shane- starting SS. He actually is NOT horrible, and would be a great bridge to 2018. His bat will make up for a lot of defensive questions.
  6. Isn't anyone going to comment on Buxton's hot dog non catch? Inning would likely have gone significantly differently. Or is it people just don't care?
  7. Gotta admire Anthoy for being a loyal employee. But it's more than time to look for some new blood. Get the dynamite out!
  8. I don't especially dislike Park. But. Park has had 93 more AB's than Arcia. I could live with Arcia being DFA'd if the Twins had said: " OK Ozzie, you are going to play every day for 3 weeks. Against right and left handlers. If you strikeout 3-4 times a game ( kinda like Buxton and Park), you'll still be in the lineup the next day. Play hard." Then, if he failed, move on.By moving him, they have essentially have said there is no room on the worse team in baseball for him.
  9. I respectfully disagree. That's fine that you do not like my take on the subject, it's only my opinion. The fact is that Santana is 1-6 with an ERA of 7.71 in his last 5 starts. And to your point that he was fine late last year-how does that correlate to this year? And I totally don't understand what his hair cut has to do with anything......
  10. Maybe it's just the terrible, rotten, lousy, and disgusting season the Twins are having, but watching E. Santana sucking again tonight against the Angels reminds me of the many players using MLB to enrich themselves with their steroid usuage. Off the top of my head, Ryan Braun, Nelson Cruz, Melky Cabrera, Dee Gordon, Bartolo Colon, Jhonny Peralta, Marlon Byrd (X2), and our very own Ervin Santana, are the current players that have used steroids, got caught, but still went on to secure tremendous contracts that more than likely set them up for life. Any why not? 80 games or a one year suspension is a "reasonable" price to pay, in the big picture. In my opinion, Ervin Santana was an average pitcher with average career stats. He was known to have a tear in his elbow, but decided not to have the famous Tommy John surgery, instead opting to rest his arm. Oh, and he signed a 4-year, $54 million dollar deal with the pitching needy Twins. But we all know what happened next. Now, he is becoming nearly unwatchable and unusable. And I'm sure he feels just terrible....... I particularly like watching his remorse while he sits on the bench when not pitching. It's no wonder that baseball is losing fans by the boatload.
  11. I agree with Rosterman- I think it will be Kepler. And I wouldn't be surprised if Park goes down for a month to see if Vargas can get hot. No reason not to try that.
  12. To me, this might be the first "come to Jesus" moment for the Twins: do you play the youngsters (Buxton and Kepler), and give the fans a reason to watch an inferior product, or maybe do the right thing and send them to Triple A to dominate and get the experience they obviously need?
  13. I heard today (somewhere?) that Santana was heading out for a rehab assignment soon. But when he is activated, someone is going to go. Any ideas? Could the pitching staff go back to 7 relievers? The way our starters get hammered-not likely. So someone off the bench could get sent down/DFA'd. Kepler? Arcia? Or possibly Danny himself-activated and DFA'd. Maybe I'm missing something. Thoughts?
  14. Pretty obvious he was bunting for a hit. I understand why you questioned this, but this team has had their collective heads up their collective butts all year. They have way bigger problems than knowing when not to bunt!!
  15. Hey Jeremy-what about the kid from Duluth that had 30+ homers this year? Is he a descent prospect?
  16. Plouffe would be a good fit for the Royals, but if it happens, I would hope the Twins would not give him away. He has been a "good citizen" for the Twins, and I would like to see him rewarded with the opportunity to play with a potential playoff team.
  17. ........throwing out about 73% of would-be base stealers.........that must be some sort of record!
  18. Let's face it: the only players other teams would be interested in-Berrios, Gorden, Stewart, Gonsalves, and Jay- are in the minors!
  19. Took the words right out of my mouth, jokin.
  20. Glad he's having some success, but I hope he doesn't come up until he's crushing Triple A pitching. I agree with tobi, another couple hundred AB's in Rochester would be fine with me. He's not going to make any difference this year, and when he comes back up, I hope it's forever.
  21. One of Halsey infamous quotes: he was announcing a game and noticed a couple making out in the stands. His comment-"he is kissing her on the strikes, and she is kissing him on the ba**s."
  22. I'm going to make a crazy prediction: Twins will not lose tomorrow!
