  1. Arcia didn't play again tonight. What's up with that?
  2. Danny Dorn- 30 year old rookie OF and 1B for the Diamondbacks. After a lengthy minor league career with the Reds and Tigers, Danny finally got called up to the majors. At time time, he was hitting .428(!) in 148 at bats. I love story's like this!
  3. Will someone wake me up when this game is over?
  4. Chris Parmalee, playing RF for the Orioles tonight agains the Fighting Phils, is 4-4 with 2 HR's!
  5. One more opinion. It looks to me that Buxton is not quite ready. His hit tool maybe needs some refining. I'd like to see him play until Hicks returns, then go back down to work on the areas where he struggled. Then bring him back up and let him play the last 6 weeks with the big club. He is such an amazing talent, but I worry that he might start pressing if things don't go as planned.
  6. The worse thing that happened to our Twins this year is the May winning streak and record. Now everyone, including me, has the quick answer to right the ship. The fact remains that this season was supposed to be a work in progress, not necessarily a rebuilding season, but one in which we expected the news guys to hit some bumps in the road. And that's what has happened. How can anyone believe we have a better team than the Royals and Tigers? As a matter of fact, IMHO the Twins, Whiteys, and Indians are basically on the same level. I am looking at the hitting a little differently. Using last night's box score, which players are ascending, leveling off, or declining. Here's my take: Ascending: Dozier, Buxton(?), Rosario(?) Leveling off: Plouffe, Hunter, Escobar(?) Declining: Mauer, Suzuki If we included the bench players, I would have included Nunez, Robinson, and Herrmann in the declining category, and probably Vargas too. I, personally, would like the Twins lineup to include Danny Santana and Ozzie Arcia. But what do I know? Those 2 are struggling now, but could be raking by July 15. I think I need to take my own advise and be patient while these things work their way out!
  7. Screwed up player who does not have the character to play in the big leagues?? You are certain about this because of why.........?Everybody is entitled to his opinion. I hate it when fans sink to character assassination because they don't particularly like a certain player, or a player doesn't immediately perform like a superstar. Many posters are too young to remember that Rod Carew was an absolute prick in his early years. Most of these players are in their mid 20's with varying degrees of confidence, composure, and maturity. I have no problem with saying that they are not good players, but let's wait with references that are not as yet certain.
  8. According to MLB At Bat, Byron Buxton will hit 9th today. Aaron Hicks, because of elbow soreness, will go to the DL.
  9. How about Michael? I thought he was only going to be out 7-10 days with his ankle...... Is 'injury prone' going to be his final postscript?
  10. Seth- I seem to remember I read that Stewart wasn't either allowed to, or wasn't throwing his slider last year. Anything to that?
  11. It absolutely drives me crazy to carry 13 pitchers, but when you think about it- with our lineup against RH pitchers, who do you want to pinch hit for? Who are you going to replace defensively? Now against LH pitching or when Herrman starts, there could be some options. But who would you want on your bench to pinch hit once or twice a week, and........that's it? It really sucks to be a bench player and succeed under those conditions. Having a guy like Pinto would definitely help if he plays 3-4 times a week, though.
  12. I agree, Bark. I, too, am a Mauer fan, and have been in his corner when the doubters have been unrelenting. I really have no clue what to predict! I've never seen him as clueless at the plate as he is now. Usually most of his outs have been hit hard at someone. That hasn't been the case in the last month. He has been somewhat successful with RISP, but even that is misleading. I can't remember his last line drive hit. I am hoping Mollie tries him lower in the batting order-maybe at 6, to get him going. I know that leaves a big hole at 3. I would like them to try Rosario there, against right handers in particular. I'm not as hopeful as you: .279, 5 HR's, .725 OPS.
  13. The best answer is; the don't have anyone (LH) better!
  14. You're the man, Jeremy! Time to quit that teaching gig!
  15. Hope he is back soon. Now the pitching staff get Escobar and Nunez.
  16. So what if he goes all the way to the wall, and it hits high off the wall, and caroms. He'd get blistered because of that. My take is that he did not misplay the ball. It was a judgement call. You have to understand the situation. First inning, not a big deal. Bottom of 9th, runner on first, I say he plays it differently.
  17. Dozier Hunter Rosario Plouffe Vargas Suzuki Maurer Hicks Santana Rosario has proven, for far, to be a great hitter with runners on. Give him a chance at 3- he offers more than Joe does right now. Problem with this lineup, Vargas needs to be up for it to work!
  18. 14 pitchers???? Next thing you know, the Twins will be sending down Dozier to bring up Milone!!
  19. Yea, but I'm still waiting for someone to pull a quad someday, Brock!'
  20. I've said it before, Blake, the Twins will not do that. Stauffler would have to melt into a pile of goo, turn into mush, and be evaporated before the Twins would DFA him!
  21. Tough as it gets in the 9th for Perk. Watch for the bunt by Reyes!
  22. One more run would be nice here. Come on Plouffe-zie!
  23. This one is on Molly! The guys battled back, and Stauffler gives it back with a pitch that said "hit me" all over it. Come on, it's not like Stauffler was fooling anyone. They have a 8 man bullpen!!!!! That just sucks!
  24. Didn't he get 5 wins in May?
  25. Day of reckoning for Nolasco vs. the Jays today. If he holds this lineup in check, and in the park, I might start to believe. I hope I'm wrong, but I see Donaldson and Bautista going long on hanging curves. Maybe it will be a high scoring game with our guys ending with their 20th victory in May.
