  1. No, he needs to play CF, that is when we are a better team.
  2. I am not sure I would count DeLeon as young as he will turn 32 next year and really hasn't done much in his career. Will it happen, maybe but it hasn't happened yet.
  3. This was an example of the Twins playing not to lose instead of playing to win. There is a difference and you can't be afraid of failure and they are.
  4. We are a team of platoon players, that is the front office mantra to play everyone equally. It had nothing to do with injuries, otherwise you wouldn't have players getting pulled in the second inning of a game. As the roster stands now, Correa, Buxton and Lewis are probably our only everyday players. Everyone else will be a platoon player and that is what any signings or moves made this offseason will focus on. The problem with this many platoon players is you are assuming all players are equal in ability and they aren't.
  5. When has Ober pitched out of the pen? We know Maeda has done it in the playoffs and you know he will be ready to pitch when needed.
  6. My main point was Rocco can't keep living off of his success in 2019. We need to see better results and his in game moves are not producing good overall results. Individual moves in a certain game are just examples.
  7. Baldelli has led us to a cumulative record of 15 games under .500 since 21. He had the juiced ball in 2019 and used to get to 100 wins. But since then his series of moves have not produced a winning formula even in the weakest division in baseball. He has continually increased the platoon usage and it is not producing wins on a consistent basis. We had 64 pinch hitting AB's in 2019, this year we have 148 as of two days ago. All players are not equal when you keep pinch hitting so early in the game that is what you saying in the manager and it just simply is not true. The handedness you hit from should not be the only criteria, I want the best player up there to hit. Develop a core of regular of players and play the bench guys in roles where they can be more successful. Rocco has not done this and we will not win consistently until he does.
  8. And remember it took over a year to even leak, that was very strange.
  9. And how did those acquisitions work out in terms of production against left handed pitching. We have been either at or near the bottom in offense against left handed pitching all year. Why continue the same practice, try something different give the kids a chance against the lefties, the production can't get any worse.
  10. I think the decision on Polanco and Kepler should be made based on how we do in the playoffs. If we lay an egg again it is time to move on from them and bring up the young guys including Larnach. Yes Polanco and Kepler have been productive when healthy but if we can't win in the playoffs with them then it is time to go another direction. How many years do you want to give them, they have had their chance and this should be their last chance.
  11. Question, are the Twins too conservative when dealing with injuries. I am not saying I want an injured player to play. But if feels like if they get a little ding, they are down. An example was last night again, Duran grimaces on the mound because of the pitch he threw and they immediately come running out there to check on him. That seems a bit overboard, he didn't indicate he felt something or that he was hurt. In contrast in the Pirates series, their pitcher took a shot off of his foot, no one from the dugout came out to check on him because the pitcher indicated there was nothing wrong. It just feels like their philosophy is a little over the top. Again I don't want a player to play if he is hurt. But are we always putting our best lineup out there because we are always afraid someone will get injured.
  12. Vasquez played 2B when we were up by two touchdown and we put Castro into pitch and there were not any position players on the bench. It was not an emergency situation, so no he's not going to end up there in a playoff games. If he does, that will mean there are so many injuries it won't matter because we wouldn't win anyway. If Gallo gets 1 AB in a playoff game that will be one too many.
  13. What about the fan who comes to one game a year and that game was last night. What Francona did was more disrespectful of the game than not burning thru his bullpen. You get your butt kicked, suck it up and take the consequences. That was not a major league game last night after the 5th inning.
  14. As long as they DFA him, the problem is this front office does not seem to be able to move on. So let's hope they will move on when the time is right.
  15. Keuchel shouldn't even be on the roster now, but much less when we start the playoffs.
  16. Yes the Twins have the easier schedule but this year's team has had a tendency to play down to their opponents. Remember the KC sweep and losing 3 of 4 to Detroit. So I don't think it's a given based on the schedule. We need to put these teams away.
  17. Honest question, what makes you think based on the history of this front office that it will be a 60/40 split next year. Why wouldn't they have done it already this year when Jeffers has earned the additional playing time. This front office values veterans regardless of production over younger better producing players i.e. Gallo over Wallner earlier this year. I believe this should be the split at a minimum but will believe it when I see it.
  18. Two options, Varland or Funderburk to start. I have to believe they could give the same production with more upside. All the reports I read was he was struggling with his command in St. Paul, now I didn't see any of his games I am only going off what I heard.
  19. Someone please explain this fascination with Keuchel. Yes he had one good outing, but his command has not been real good including in AAA. Why do we want to count on him, this is not the 2017 version of Keuchel. How is his stuff going to play out of the bullpen, it won't. Can we try and raise the bar at some point and find and develop pitchers who can contribute. We have guys in St. Paul that should be brought up and see if they can contribute, there is more upside than throwing Keuchel out there, release him now.
  20. Great game and performance by the Twins. If there was ever a doubt about Kepler's reluctance to play in center tonight answered that question. Luplow has played only 225 innings there and yet he was the one manning center instead of Max when Gallo got tossed.
  21. At what point are they going to break the cycle of not using their prospects that they are supposed to be developing. You can't continually try to turn the staff over from the outside. At some point you have to give them a chance. Varland has shown some potential and sometimes they are not lights out right away but that is part of the learning process. Are we waiting for them to show a sub 2 era before we bring them up, this is similar to keeping Wallner down earlier this year. As an aside I saw Varland the other night in Omaha and he didn't look bad despite the results. They were using the ABS for that game and I do wonder if that is impacting the pitchers. They don't use every game and there were borderline pitches being correctly called balls but a lot of umpires would be calling strikes. I do wonder what kind of adjustment this is for the pitchers.
  22. At what point do you give a chance to Varland, he will be 26 at the beginning of the season next year. At some point the pitching pipeline has to start producing or we will be going thru this revolving door every year. Paddack was not very good except for one year and is coming off the second TJ surgery. Put him in the bullpen, And let's open some spots for the young pitching to join the rotation.
  23. We currently have 5 starters, if the front office is counting on Keuchel down the stretch, then we are in trouble and this front office needs to go. A six man rotation takes everyone out of their rhythm, which we have been told over the years is just as important in the performance of a starting pitcher. Stay with a 5 man rotation, release Keuchel when Ryan comes back and slide in Varland if another starter is needed.
  24. I doubt Winder or Sands will be on the playoff roster either. Again Keuchel has had one good outing in the last two plus years and you want to count on him in the playoffs. And potentially in a relief role that he has not been in for over 10 years. Can we set some higher expectations. start bringing up a couple of guys from St. Paul and see what they can do. They would at least have some more potential upside. Keuchel is toast and has nothing left in the tank, and no other teams were after him. Why do we keep going after lottery tickets, that is not how you build a winning team.
