    What is Zoll trying to accomplish with his moves. Now Nightengale is reporting that they have let Deron Johnson go, another scout shown the door. The timing seems odd, unless Zoll has been told he will be back. They may not have any scouts left by next season and we will be left at the mercy of Zoll and his spreadsheet geniuses.

    He has started 5 games since July 4th and 2 of those were at first base, I do not think that is similar to other backup catchers.

    I am a Lewis believer but have been disappointed with his finish to this season. I still believe there is something to unlock. If he is on the team, I think it should be first base, he has showed better defense there and with more time I think he will improve even more. He has done a good job of scooping the ball which is something Clemens struggled with. I personally believe we should give him another year and keep him at one position, not moving around. If they can get a clear upgrade at first then maybe move on but I don't believe Clemens is the answer. Or would I be in favor of another one year stopgap especially a league average or worse type. This team needs to improve the talent but make some decisions and stop playing musical chairs on defense.

    This team wasn't a playoff team and one player wasn't going to change that. But Zoll made moves that indicated they were a playoff contender at the deadline, you don't stop halfway, have players on the roster that can contribute in some role, other than playing cards. This is roster management 101 in my opinion. If you want to defend Zoll, by all means go ahead, but I am not sure how this move is defensible.

    Diaz played no games in the field this year and 37 last year, has he turned into a DH only at this point in his career. His bat would be an upgrade but is it enough to be a DH only.

    Only the games in SF, Shelton said he is playing the veterans against Texas because they are still in the playoff race.

    He should be a pinch hitter only for the last six games, don't let him take at bats from the younger guys.

    He just clogs up the roster and for a league average player why would you do that. Rotate the DH between the outfielders, there will be 4 and maybe 5 that will need at bats.

    Prielipp and Matthews should have the last two spots in the rotation to start, they have earned it. Abel still hasn't shown he can pitch up here consistently. Kremer can be the long guy in the bullpen if they want to keep him, even though it would probably be expensive. But we don't need another 30 something league average player blocking the younger guys with more upside. I hope we can upgrade the backup SS position over Kreidler, he shouldn't be handed a job in my opinion.

    There will always be 30 something journeyman catcher's available on the waiver wire if you want to replace Jackson with a comparable player.

    It was the middle of August and he was back within days of not being claimed.

    If there are no changes in the front office, I don't expect the roster management any different or better.

    But if you are truly trying to contend as he has stated and showed with his deadline moves, you don't keep a player on the roster for two months to give four at bats. You bring up someone that can contribute in some role., Who knows if it would have made a difference but due to the incompetence of Zoll we will never know.

    You have high expectations for Zoll thinking he would have a plan.

    I can't recall a team punting a roster spot like this for two months unless it was a rule 5 pickup. Especially for someone that was already released a month ago and no one claimed. I don't see what more Tom P. needs to see to know Zoll is just not up to the job.

    Hopefully he will get a competent front office in place.

    I think Wallner is done with the Twins, they have pretty much signaled this with not calling him this year. It is probably best for both sides that they move on at this point. And that would be good, because having a DH only bat clogs the bench, you can rotate it among the outfielders just like they have in St. Paul.

    Gleeman tweeted this morning that because of the hamstring injury Culpepper will be eligible for ROY consideration next year.

    @PuckettPond, did I post something that is factually incorrect for the thumbs down. I realize we may have different opinions on different subjects but putting a thumbs down on a post like this just shows you will do it on anything I post which you have been doing.. Maybe explain yourself one time.

    For division we are eliminated, wild card the magic number is still one.

    We are not eliminated yet, still have a chance, very small, but a chance.
