  1. J understand what are you saying but they need a different plan than Caratini and I am not sure what is out there. So it is either live with the gaping for a year maybe two, sign Jeffers or find another solution.
  2. So first Royce has to stop flailing away at the low and outside pitch say the comments, then when he does lay off one, he has to start approaching those pitches differently. This is where to me comments about Royce start losing their effectiveness. Yes Royce had a bad night last night and he was laying off those pitches better until mid August, even though I don't think it has been as bad as it was before he was sent down. And yes you have to protect the plate with two strikes, but that is something that every batter in the lineup struggles with, how many pitches have we seen right down the middle with 2 strikes being taken. Royce was not a pull hitter when he came up, this is the Twins way of teaching players to hit. Yes Royce deserves his share of the blame but someone needs to look at the development of these players and ask why they didn't work out, not all these players should be average or below.
  3. The Caratini signing never did make sense. He is in his mid 30's and hasn't consistently been a top or #1 catcher. Houston trade for Vasquez because they didn't trust him to be the backup. Yet the plan was for him to be the bridge. I believe he was signed because of his positional flexibility, this is nice but can we start worrying about talent instead. Caratini was never going to repeat his June numbers which was a career month, we have been seeing the real Caratini. This front office needs to go so we can come up with a real plan to raise the talent level. I would sign Jeffers if you can even if you overpay and move off of Caratini to recoup of the salary.
  4. But yet he is not good enough to get even one start now when giving Jeffers a day off, the logic is truly baffling.
  5. What rebuild did they start, Falvey was doing what he has always done. He got rid of expiring contracts and traded away relievers at the trade deadline. This is what he had done throughout his tenure but all of a sudden he is rebuilding because this is what we want to see. He signed a couple of league average at best free agents in the offseason to compete in a weak division.
  6. So he is good for three or four innings a game, because after the fifth inning he has a very high ERA, so I am not going to say he is one of our top pitchers.
  7. Then he is a back end starter at best and we have plenty of those. Let's raise the bar for talent and a pitcher needing an opener doesn't do that.
  8. It looked like Keaschall was throwing the ball home trying to get the runner from second, which with his arm wasn't going to happen. That is the reason the batter went to second, unsound fundamentals again.
  9. Exactly, if he can't pitch to the top of the order, put him in middle relief.
  10. That is where I am at and he has shown he's a little better but he still has many of the same issues he had with Tampa just a little less frequently.
  11. I have seen many comments wanting to sign Taj to an extension.
  12. He still has to be ready to pitch whatever inning he comes in.
  13. Good to see our stud pitcher showing up tonight.
  14. I love they are giving Ross the nod at SS over Kreidler. But what is up with Jackson, they are stashing him to be the backup next year but yet they won't give him one start for Jeffers. He's come in as a late inning replacement for 5 games in a stretch of almost 35 games over the last month and a half. The logic is truly stunning.
  15. Lewis has gotten better throughout the year defensively, give him time, everyone expects him to be a natural over there. It took Mauer time as well to get to the level he did over there. If they are going to replace him, they need to do it with a clear upgrade. And I do not believe it is Clemens, who still can be streaky and will he repeat this year, no one knows. Put Clemens in a super utility role and upgrade the roster so he is in a more valuable for the team. I like Keaschall in the outfield, again give him some time, they played musical chairs in defensive positions this year, give the players time to get comfortable.
  16. Where has it been said that he doesn't accept coaching, just because you may not agree with his comments, doesn't mean he doesn't accept coaching. If I recall he talked about how he tried the different stances and swings they wanted him to before he got sent down. And they weren't working for him. The Twins and Falvey did this to Buxton also, to the point that some former players were telling him go up there and do what you are comfortable with.
  17. Larnach is either going to be non tendered or he will be on the team for the year. If he gets the projected arb number of $7m to $8m, there is going to be no market for him. If they decide to move on from him, which I am not against why would you tender him, the opportunity to get anything for him was lost at the trade deadline.
  18. Bradley was in his third year and was expected to be here. Abel made two starts and Keaschall was only called up because Castro was traded. Same as always, only call up the guys from AAA when they had no other option. Roden they were only trying to justify the trade.
  19. I was referring to last year based on the original comment about a direction being set last year.
  20. What was the direction they set, they 6 players on expiring contracts which is typical for the Twins and they traded three relievers. Falvey had a history of sending away relievers before their contract year and did so again with Jax and Duran. He felt he could build a bullpen on the fly. And even after they faltered in August, we saw no younger guys come up to see what they could do. I don't understand this narrative of he was starting something, look at his history, he wouldn't call up younger players unless he had to instead opting to sign one year contracts on vets who had little or no upside.
  21. History says he will re-sign Bell. I don't disagree with you about Wallner but if Zoll is in charge Larnach is very likely to be back as well. They already signaled their intentions the last month when they kept playing Larnach and didn't call up ERod because they couldn't find at bats for him. This front office still favors the average or less veteran vs. young players. If Zoll stays, we will have pretty much the same roster with both Ober and Kremer in the rotation. And we will see more blunders like Kreidler made yesterday with no hope for the future.
