  1. This stretch is showing why a 6 man rotation or even piggybacking doesn't work. The Twins still have one additional arm in the bullpen thanks to September expansion but the bullpen is still running short. The way bullpens are utilized today, you can't operate down one arm. They really need to bring in another option for closer, Hoffman may be able to bounce back, but they will need another option. Because Gomez is middle relief at best.
  2. We view the events that have occurred differently and will have to agree to disagree.
  3. “We believe that the best structure going forward is a president of business and a president of baseball,” Pohlad said. “I think any structure can work with the right belief in it, with the right people, with the right people underneath, and the foundation,” Falvey said. “And I want to say this: I totally respect Tom's position that he would like it to look a little different in the other way. There are few teams that have it this way, there are a lot more teams that don't that have it spread apart. I totally respect that decision. It's a really hard job for sure to do both. I think with the right environment, the right structure around it, you can do both, This is from the reporting at the time of his leaving. His own words say he wanted both positions. I blame the Pohlads for not addressing this at the end of the season due to not having the ownership situation worked out. Because they just continued the same practices for another year and I hope they address it soon.
  4. Was there an announcement about Connor. They have 8 games left, why would he not get one more start, he has 5 more innings left in him.
  5. Falvey was looking for a way out because he wanted to operate like the big boys and when he got his feelings hurt because he had duties taken away from him that anyone in his position would know were temporary. He then had his out and grabbed it.
  6. Falvey had the business operations duties taken away from him and he didn't agree with that. The Twins have always split the business and baseball operations duties. Falvey was given the additional business operations duties when St. Peter because at that time the team was up for sale so it would seem that was a transitionary move. But Falvey wanted both and felt one person could do both and Tom P. didn't agree. Now Tom P. may have pushed him out the door with that move, but he wasn't fired.
  7. We changed the field staff, but the front office has the same personnel except Falvey.
  8. Well the reporting at the time said that was one of the reasons he was chosen.
  9. Neither of us was in the room, so we don't know the particulars or what led to the decision to choose Falvey.
  10. You give your vision when you interview, they decide if that is the direction they want to go. As I earlier stated they liked his background in analytics, so naturally he was going to be a top candidate.
  11. Because they don't make out the lineup card.
  12. Like any job, you are going to be in alignment with your bosses and he was big on analytics which all the teams were starting to move to when he was hired. And many on here have lauded all the work he did in restructuring the front office.
  13. I am sure we will get an update at some point about the recovery timeline, otherwise we are just guessing.
  14. He was picked over Bloom who many have liked on here. We will hopefully see if Tom can do better.
  15. So how many AB's does take Roden take from ERod and Jenkins.
  16. That means they hired Falvey to do a job and probably gave him too long of a leash because he didn't get the job done. And then they promoted his #2 because they didn't their ownership issues resolved last fall, which is definitely on them. So what decisions have they made that had an impact on the product on the field. What player did they sign or not sign, what directive did they give in regards to player development. I am not necessarily a fan of the Pohlads but until Joe took over they have been primarily hands off owners.
  17. The ownership has nothing to do with roster construction or player development. What they can do is hire someone that is experienced and can put together a baseball operations staff that knows how to build a sustainable winning team. And Zoll was a major contributor to a staff that has been unsuccessful in this for the last 10 years. And many of his decisions this year leave most reasonable people questioning these decisions.
  18. Which of the players on expiring contracts were they going to bring back. Duran and Jax followed the pattern of Pressley, Rogers and other relievers. The only trade that didn't follow the pattern was Varland. And when did Falvey in 10 years ever rely on young players unless forced to. So I am looking history and trends and I will believe what that tells me. You can look at the same trends and decide something else, that is up to you, but please don't tell me what I believe.
  19. Going forward in development of our players, you would hope they would want to review what went wrong. Not just with Royce but with all the others. Otherwise you are doomed to repeat the same mistakes over and over.
  20. The whole team has been taking poor at bats, the focus seems to be only on Lewis. I used Bell as an example. The comments towards Royce have been a little too much IMO. There are plenty of factors to talk about when discussing the failures of this team.
