  1. The 2019 Twins have hit 261 home runs so far this season. That ranks them 3rd on the all-time list of most home runs by a team in a season (and yes - it is still only August!!!). Next ahead of them on the list are the 1997 Mariners who hit 264. Also, the Twins are 11 ahead of the Yankees this season and still have 2 games in hand.
  2. The Twins are still 8 ahead of the Yankees and have 3 games in hand AND the Yankees are done playing the Orioles!!
  3. The 3 Bombas in this game now gives the Twins 258 on the season. That moves them into 4th place on the all-time list for most home runs by a team in a season. Next ahead of them is the 2005 Rangers who hit 260. The Yankees have now hit 250 home runs this season, but also played 3 more games than the Twins. Bombas away!
  4. The 2019 Twins have now hit 253 home runs this season. That moves them into a tie with the 2006 Orioles for 6th all-time. Next on the list are the 1996 Orioles and the 2010 Blue Jays both of whom hit 257. They are also 15 ahead of the Yankees for the most in MLB this season. Here is hoping that the Bomba Squad adds several more in Chicago this week.
  5. Very nice win. The Twins ave a 3.5 game lead and a very rested bullpen heading into Chicago.
  6. Yup - and Odo has provided 2 ER ball with 5 or more innings as a starter 4 times over his last 12 starts. Hard to quantify that as reliable.
  7. Dantes: I agree with you that sometimes you have to looks beyond the numbers. I feel Odorizzi's August ERA is misleading. One number that is jumping out to me is that Odo has only pitched 6 innings ONCE in his last 10 starts. Any starter that needs 3+ bullpen innings is not reliable IMO
  8. Nice come-back win, but is anyone else worried that the Twins only have one reliable starter right now (Pineda)?
  9. The 3 home runs the Twins hit now give them 251 for the season. That moves them into 7th place on the all-time list of most home runs by a team in a season. Next up are the 2016 Orioles who hit 253 (Jonathan Schoop had 25 that season).
  10. The 2019 Twins have now hit 248 home runs. The 4 they hit yesterday allowed them to move up 3 spots in the all-time list of most home runs hit in a season. They now rank 8th all-time. Next ahead of them is the 2000 Astros who hit 249. Go Twins Bomba Squad!
  11. Thanks for the report Ted! We need to change Brusdar Graterol's "team" from Pensacola to Rochester in the Prospects Summary.
  12. Thanks for the interview Seth! Nick has been one of my favorite Twins prospects since they drafted him. From everything I've read and heard about him he seems like a great person as well as being blessed with talent. Here is hoping that he can get back on the field soon to continue his progression towards a long, successful major league career.
  13. sorry, Ted, but I'm not in agreement. Here is why. 1) Starting and overall pitching. Yes - the Twins are 8th overall in MLB in ERA. BUT, Cleveland is 3rd. Also, 4 of the 5 Twins regular starters are trending downward (sans Pineada). This combined with the fact that the Indians should get Kluber back soon and also might get Carassco back gives the Indians a significant advantage on the bump IMO. 2) Team defense. Cleveland ranks 11th overall in MLB in FPCT, and the Twins rank a putrid 24th. ICK! The Indians are also 6th in DER, while the Twins are 20th. 3) After tomorrow the schedules will be more comparable. The Twins may have a slight advantage, but only because they are "stronger" record wise than the Indians - and they play each other 6 times. I would like to be more optimist, but I've been a Minnesota sports fan for WWWAAAAAYYYYYY too long.
  14. The 2019 Twins are now 11th on the all-time "most home runs in a season for team" list. Next on the list are the 1996 Mariners and the 2012 Yankees, both who hit 245.
  15. Terry - THANK YOU so much for doing this. It has been an interesting "side effect" of a fantastic season for the Twins. I do have a request. Might it be possible to track this teams HR total against who is next for them to pass all time? For example, this team now has a team record 236 home runs. The next team ahead of them are the 1975 Reds whose 241 home runs rank 6th all time for home runs by a team in a season. Thanks again!
  16. Can't have starting pitching performances like the Twins have had the past 3 games and expect to make the playoffs or be a true contender during the playoffs.
  17. I was wondering about Thorpe getting pulled after 6 innings with only 69 pitches while throwing a 1 hit shutout. Seems like a wise move, however as he likely lost some of his ability to pitch longer while in the Twins pen. Also saves his arm so he can pitch more at the big league level later this season.
  18. I LOVE that picture of Acuna wearing those awesome throwbacks. Brings back memories of Hammering Hank hitting #715 back in '74. Hopefully the Twins can "stop the chop" again! Go get 'em boys!
  19. My understanding is that the Starting Pitcher gets to choose the uniforms. I guess they feel more comfortable in the colored jerseys at this time.
  20. I think they did OK. The floor of the bullpen is certainly higher. Dyson and Romo added needed depth, and Dyson is under team control for next year. The Giants unexpected success of late either raised the asking price for MadBum and Smith, or totally took them off the market. IMO these moves should be enough to allow the Twins to make the playoffs either as the Central Champs or a Wildcard. IMO the Twins are still behind the Astros and Yankees come playoff time. We shall see...
  21. What was your favorite Carlos Torres moment? Romo replacing Torres is a definite upgrade, and raises the "floor" of the bullpen IMO.
